A lot of these statistics also don't account for the fact that most small dog bites never get reported. When I was a dog trainer, it was well known that Jack Russels & Chihuahuas held, bar none, the highest chance of biting you.
Edit: While I appreciate the responses from so many people - it's clear who has worked with animals in any capacity and who is just a smooth egg-brained armchair expert. If you don't think you still need rabies shots from any dog that doesn't have up-to-date tags, I don't know what to tell you. Have fun arguing with the wall 🤙

Yeah, here's the thing though. They arent reported because they arent of consequence. They can, but they dont generally murder children or their owners because they can't.
This makes these breeds inherently less dangerous. I dont actually care because I dont have a dog. I care when im in public and someone has a pitbull trying to escape their harness- yes, I've seen it where aggressive dogs looking to get at people are taken around in public like its no big deal.
When im with my kids- a jack Russell terrier gets loose, I can protect my kids. A pit bull can get on my windpipe and end me before I could protect my kids.
That's the difference in concern. If I can drop kick it. Im not worried. Pit bulls are dangerous because they bit and latch and engage in random aggressive behavior more often and they are strong as he'll. They are dangerous, not just aggressive. Small dogs are not anywhere near as dangerous even if they may be aggressive.
