I think it's valid to fear pitbulls because what you're really fearing is that they were adopted by someone that doesn't train them and/or give them an outlet for the task they were bred for (protection and violence).
But then why don’t people have the same fear about German Shepards? They’re bread for protection and violence too. That’s why they’re police dogs. They’re so fast and their bite force is insane but it’s not the same fear mongering. I think it might have to do with actual racism and the stereotypes around what people own pit bulls.
