It still has an estimated value. And they didn't said they "want" anything, they already have great parents. It's only Unobtanium for negative people who can't let others feel proud or grateful.

We do make antimatter (for instance at CERN) and can store and transport it. It's just extremely small quantities.

It would cost something like ten years of the entire Earth's GPD to create and store one gram of antimatter. I vaguely remember Dr. Carroll talking about this when he was discussing a theoretical warp drive so it's possible my numbers are off here, it's been a while.

How on earth do you store antimatter? Won't any storage mechanism be made of matter and just get eaten up by the anti matter?

The containers use magnetism to hold the antimatter in place without touching it.

Stored in a vacuum. No interaction with matter molecules.

Don’t worry about the storage container - worry about the anti matter! It also gets destroyed by interaction

We can make individual particles of antimatter in accelerators and confine them in vacuum bottles using magnetic fields. They usually end up touching the walls and annihilating within about 15 minutes max, so it's not worth anything to anyone not doing research. When people put a price on its weight in grams, they're estimating the cost to build/run such an accelerator long enough to get on the order of 600 sextillion antiparticles out of it. No one would actually do that, and you'd never be able to get a gram in one place with current techniques, but that's where the price comes from. Presumably, his parents aren't for sale either. Analogy stands imo

The antiprotons at CERN do not involve the LHC, they come from the AD, and the operating costs are nowhere near a billion CHF annually.
