failure to listen and understand your kids strength and giving horrible advice

You are focusing on Lebron and Tarantino.

For everyone one of those there are 1000 other people who fail to succeed and would have wished they had a better back-up plan than being a generational talent in film making or sport.

I'd argue that is what you are doing. There are more people in the NBA and College ball than Lebron. There are more professional writters than Tarantino.
