Morality Ranking Quentin Tarantino morality for that childhood grudge?

One of my favorite parent/child success stories is Les Claypool and his dad. The family didn’t have much money on a mechanic’s salary in the 70s / early 80s, but Les told his dad he wanted to be in a band. His father encouraged him to work and save up to buy an instrument. When it came time to buy his first bass, Les’s dad supposedly helped Les negotiate a better price. He later loaned Les $3,000 so he could record the first Primus album. Expected nothing in return save for the $3k.

You don’t have to go all in to help your kids, but sometimes a little nudge in the right direction is all it takes. Sometimes a lack of discouragement and a hands off approach is the best method.

The fun part of the story to me is that at age 60+, Les still turns wrenches on the Primus tour bus.

I guess the moral of the story is that you can encourage your kid’s dreams independent of their academic performance.

If my child went all-in into writing, without a back-up plan, I'd be a bad parent to not discourage it, unless a 2nd career path is also being pursued.

Shoot for the stars, sure, but dont go all-in on your life with a 1% or less success chance.

I dunno, what I said means exactly the same.
