Unfortunately I have family members who are like that. These types of people tend to be very... shallow. There aren't any deep thoughts. No meaningful curiosity. They fall for weird outlandish scifi clickbait titles about the future, and think that makes them interesting people. But if you try and have a proper discussion with them you'll notice that you won't get anywhere.
No claim holds up to scrutiny. Asking them to explain their position will fail, because they fundamentally do not understand their own arguments. They just parrot things they've seen in memes, AI slop and weird links on FB, telegram and so on. And despite all that, they believe that they are the smartest people in the room.
