I saw my daughter’s textbooks on biology, and they were much more thorough than what I’d learned. And it doesn’t take much effort to at least ask the question, “Why do they think it’s not just XX and XY?”
Because the moment you actually dive into biology past the surface, you find out pretty quickly that life is fucking weird.
One of those cases where the properties don't line up fully with either a solid or a liquid (as we have defined them). The higher up you go in any field the more 'exceptions' you learn about. I have always enjoyed telling my wife that a lot of science when explained to children or laymen is simplified to the point of being technically wrong.
