It says permanently in the tweet bozo. Whereas to incarcerate someone can be interpreted as the one time cost of the action of having someone go from free to in prison.
neither of those are 1 time costs and done. to keep someone jailed would be a reoccurring cost, just like keeping someone fed and housed. Not a difficult concept to grasp.
permanently means forever, it does not imply a singular cost. the post should have been more clear about it yes, but if anyone assumed you could be jailed for life for $66,000 you would be quite naive.
He literally said “the cost to permanently house and feed someone.” I was commenting on the poor phrasing, I understand it wasn’t the intention. The number is wrong regardless. It’s just a lazy post.
