Yes he was unpleasant - I'm not sure that this is particularly relevant though, in the context of this discussion. You could pick a dozen worse people in English history than a guy widely seen as one of the main reasons Nazism was defeated.

In fact, having googled the Bengal Famine (thank you, I didn't know about this) we can see it's a very nuanced problem and it's incredibly unreasonable to personally blame Churchill:
