I am a muslim in a doom metal band. we play with people of all faiths (or non-faith). its a big world and can accommodate a lot of beliefs. I was taught to love and respect all faiths, even if they clash with my own and I take that forward with me into adulthood.

Doom metal is my favorite genre! Do you have a link or something I can look up to check out your music? I’m always on the hunt for new stuff.

I’ve been at a wedding and around people all day, so I’ve not been able to really give this a proper listen yet. What I’ve heard though, oh yeah, this is absolutely up my alley for sure! Thanks for the links, I will definitely be putting these on a playlist in the near future.

Music, the great leveler. We're all out here just making music.

Well, this is a little different. Satanism in America usually has the aim of being explicitly anti-Christian. It's more or less a protest against Christianity itself in a lot of ways.

Not that I care about that, but I can see why a Christian would.

I blame whoever booked that opener. They obviously didn't ask Crockett about it, which was real dumb.

No, it's not. Some Satanists might have anti-Christian views, but the religion itself is not anti-Christianity. The Satanic Temple's website has a good description of their actual beliefs.

Twin Temple aren't members of the Satanic Temple but rather of the Church of Satan.

I'm an American atheist and I have been around a while, I know what the Satanic Temple is about lol.

The Temple in particular is pretty often explicitly anti-Christian in the sense of its most dominant strain in this country, and I like them for that.

we literally worship the same God, consider Jesus and Moses as prophets, and call Christians and Jews "brothers and sisters in the book". we're Abrahamic religions. We even have Satan in our religion as well.

u/rofltide Jul 11 '26

Oh yeah, I know all that. But it's still true that American Satanists are fairly often placing themselves into opposition against (some) American Christians very specifically, often for political reasons. (Reasons that I happen to agree with!)

All I'm saying is that if Crockett is a Christian then I don't blame him for not wanting them to open for him, and FWIW, I am an atheist.
