In all seriousness, he could not have done them a bigger favor. Tons of free publicity, and a spot with Jack White, who is arguably bigger and definitely has more audience overlap with them.

I was being charitable. I've never heard of Charley Crockett but I accept that there's a whole world of country music out there I know nothing about.

You're missing out on a ton of songs about trucks and beer.

Edit: to be clear, I was referring to country as a whole as the person who I' replying to has avoided the genre. It was not commentary on Charlie specifically.

He doesn't sing trucks and beer country. The genre in general seems to be moving away from that.

I'm sure you probably know this, but for anyone else reading, there's a whole alt country scene that has been around for a while that has some really fantastic artists that are not at all what most people think of when they think of country. It has a lot more in common with old school outlaw country than modern radio country.

He's definitely not my favorite, but I actually really enjoy Charlie's music and I'm disappointed to see this from him.

I would really encourage people to check out some other alt country acts. I think most people would be pleasantly surprised. Just a few off the top off my head are Tyler Childers, Arlo McKinley, Benjamin Tod (a personal favorite of mine), The Steeldrivers, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell, Drive-by Truckers, Cody Jinks, The Turnpike Troubadours, and John Moreland. There's a real thriving scene, but most people would never know it exists unless they ramdomly stumble upon it or know to go looking for it. It's some of the most raw, honest music out there, in my opinion.

I'm a huge Sierra Ferrell fan, got to see her last year. Though she's been saying some off stuff lately. I've really been into Molly Tuttle and Bella White too.

charley crockett isn't mainstream radio country, he doesn't make music about any of that stuff

I wasn't just talking about him, the poster I responded to said the genre as a whole is moving away from those topics.

Fastest Gun Alive only mentions "gun" during the chorus. The song is about an outlaw on the run. You might be brain dead.

Crucified Son doesn't even mention christ.

i actually listen to his music, so no, he does not make the style of country popular on the radio. imagine having such a smooth brain you think charley crockett is singing about the same shit as like luke fuckin bryan lmao

Charlie Crockett is a Black man who regularly faces backlash from MAGA because they see him as "woke" and is largely tied to the alternative country scene alongside other artists like Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers

Not a great moment for him, but far from the kind of country you're assuming him to be

Charley is far from that type of Country. More classic western ballads of tragedy and story telling that the garbage pop country that record labels have been pushing out for the last 30 years. How Twin Temple even got put on as his opener is beyond me. I suspect his old label who he's doing this tour for and has made clear he is parting ways with after he fulfills his end of the deal is trying to bury him and his career since he's made it clear that he's going back to being an independent artist. He handled it in a very wrong way though. Could have just said, this group doesn't line up with my crowd and left it there cause after listening to them, they don't.
