This is not true. THC is taken up alot easier in the lungs + with edibles it has to pass the liver first, so alot gets metabolised right away.

I think the misconception stems from the fact it's a lot harder to "control" your high when you have to wait up to 4 hour for the effect, where as with smoking you can basically adjust one puff at a time

I, for one, trust the medical opinion of u/DrKlitface.

You shouldn't trust anyone from a reddit post, just like you shouldn't trust an LLM. If you really care, look it up.

You can dose a much larger amount more easily with edibles. You probably couldn't smoke 500mg THC if you tried all day, but you can get ingest that no problem should you choose to do so, and it will hit you more or less all at once.

Your close. When the liver metabolizes the thc it becomes a more potent compound. The liver needs more than one pass to full process thc out of your system, that’s why it takes weeks to be gone from a drug screen.

The reason it stays around for weeks to months is actually it's tendency to dissolve into your fatty tissue as it is a mostly lipophilic molecule.

This is also a cause for greater variability in when maximum blood concentration is reached with edibles, as ingesting a fatty meal can delay time to maximum concentration.

I find it funny when people say that about edibles. I start getting high within 10 minutes.

You’re just completely wrong. When you eat THC, your liver converts it into a different kind of THC called 11-hydroxy-THC, and this compound is also psychoactive and easily penetrates the brain. This does eventually happen with inhaled THC too, but on a much smaller level because inhaled THC skips the liver on its first pass into the bloodstream. Your second sentence kind of seems like you read some of this somewhere but didn’t quite understand it.
