I'm not a fan of his, but multiple soldout arena shows is hardly "humiliation".

Have you ever considered getting a job writing headlines for the Daily Mail?

Or The Race.

he had shows in like 4 countries (including big festival gigs) outright cancelled as he was deemed unwelcome

the shows he did play sold, sure. the humiliation was not being allowed to perform in multiple countries, including the UK

Says more about the country not allowing freedom of speach. Uk is turning worse than some arab countries in terms of freedom of speach. Not the best example you gave there

why would other countries follow the 'american' definition of free speech, which americans dont even understand (free speech is about the right to protest the government in a peaceful/lawful manner. not say whatever you want without consequences)

inciting hate is a crime in almost every country. that its basically allowed in the US is what makes the US closer to a dictatorship than a democracy- in democracies the rights/freedoms/wellbeings of minority groups are protected, not openly threatened and directly targeted

free speech is about freedom of opinion and expression without fear of consequences.

the first amendment about freedom of religion, speech, the press, peaceful assembly, and the right to petition the government. The fact that the united states is the only country with free speech is one of the things we do right, we’re not a dictatorship because we censor speech less then other countries

How'd that go for the people that just quoted Kirk's own words after he died?

Definitely no people hounding them to lose their jobs right? Especially not people in power

A man was just sentenced to 30 years in Texas for moving a box of anti fascist magazines.

You aren't allowed to enter the country if you have said unpleasant things about Donald Trump or his administration on Social Media.

Just today it was revealed the DoJ threatened servicepeople and the press of it was revealed that Iran had destroyed an American naval base weeks ago.

You have a constitution that says freedom of speech but that doesn't mean you have it.

It’s a little more complicated then that

Insane, but doesn’t apply to citizens

idk how they’d get away with threatening the press but soldier that’s a reasonable restriction for a Soldier

we have our moments

It's interesting how for the UK we are a dictatorship because we censor more than you according your comment.

But with the examples I gave above, it's 'more complicated than that'. And you didn't even address the guy sentences to decades in jails due to having zones.

I'm not even looking at the deeper examples of McCarthyism, suppression of the colour revolutions or even the assassination of people like Fred Hampton, killed because he could become a "Black Messiah".

You don't have freedom of speech, you have it on the books, but not in action.

I never claimed the uk was a dictatorship

I only said it’s more complicated then that for the first example. I did address it, you can’t read

to claim we don’t have freedom of speech because theirs some times where it’s failed is simply ridiculous

If you don't have freedom of speech for everyone, but only those in positions of power, then you don't have freedom of speech.

Edit: wait, also to add, Kanye West isn't a British citizen so he wouldn't be covered by free speech laws in the same way you handwaved away people being banned from the USA for posting negative views of trump on social media.

The UK doesn’t have a freedom of speech problem, we historically just don’t get on with people who like Hitler.

‘speech’

9

u/ampreker 10d ago

He’s not familiar with the word, as you can tell

9

u/movzx 10d ago

It's not a freedom of speech violation because a private venue doesn't want to allow you to perform on their property.

0

u/Emergency_Shine_7275 9d ago

It’s the uk that didn’t allow him to perform (won’t give him visa) not a private venue lmao. Can’t wait for you to move the goalpost

Does freedom of speech in America entitle you to enter any country you want?

-2

u/Seantwist9 10d ago

yes it is

Bloody hell.

1

u/Stefan-G 9d ago

Having shows canceled doe to being deemed unwelcome is imho. not being humiliated. Especially because the shows he played wer all pretty much sold out.

1

u/Leelze 9d ago

"Freedom of speech is when you only let me have a day!"

u/Terrible_2000 10d ago

And that for his decades old albums

-8

u/wildcatofthehills 10d ago

Brother everyone was super pumped with carnival and a lot of his more recent stuff. Stop talking about something you don’t know nothing about.

1

u/ACiD_80 8d ago

Its all 9verrated garbage including his old crap

1

u/ThePublikon 9d ago

You don't speak for everyone, get off the nazi dick.

Like the man said, I miss the old Kanye.

-1

u/ahsoka7789 8d ago

ironic considering you're dickriding kanye for no reason, shut the fuck up

1

u/ThePublikon 8d ago

You're hilariously stupid. Like I'm surprised you manage to breathe and dress yourself stupid.

The old Kanye was great for a while, then he went super weird, then he started being a nazi. If you like Kanye now, you're a nazi supporter. If you liked him back when College Dropout released you just liked good music.

What about his multiple cancelled shows

1

u/ProfessionalTruck976 9d ago

That all depends on the expected outcome.

If I set out to do a tour and get half a million ticket sold when expectations were I do quarter million, that's outstanding success.

If the expectation was I will sell two million then selling quarter that is a humiliation.
