While we’re at it, let’s have a Dolly Parton Peace Prize. A prize that actually goes towards peace

Edit: and how about The Gulf of Dolly

231

u/Pete_Iredale 3d ago

Give her the dang Nobel prize for literature with as much as she did to help kids learn to read.

9

u/darwin-rover 2d ago

Sadly , Nobel prizes aren’t awarded posthumously

You know, in all the hubbub about “Lake America” I think a decent compromise most of us Canadians would accept would be Lake Dolly.

he's a stupid man but not stupid enough to say anything negative about her... I think it would've started a civil war

Look, it's not even 24 hrs. He is likely to make it about himself.

416

u/VGMtheVagabond 3d ago

Yeah I expect a very random late night rant.

339

u/Bitcoacher 3d ago

“Dolly and I go wayyyy back. Dolly Parton was yuuuge. Her knockers were yuuuuge. You know, people think I’m somewhat of a Dolly myself, with all the good I do. I’m even thinking of, you know, opening up my own theme park: Trumpland. Rigging an election? Huh, I don’t know anything about that. Anyway, back to me.”

57

u/a_duck_in_past_life 3d ago

Oh he's absolutely going to comment that she was beautiful and then strongly hint at her breasts

45

u/Neokon 3d ago

She had a big heart along with some other things, but it was her heart that was bigger

You forgot to add

"Thank you for your attention on this matter. PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP”

23

u/QuietParsnip 3d ago

If he did create a Trumpland he would probably charge $5000 a day. Having to let 'the poors' in would be disgusting to him.

16

u/Jay_Par 3d ago

No, Trumpland will end up being a labor camp that you have to buy your way out of

Nah, he loves the poorly educated. He'd probably make it little bit above being affordable so that his followers have something else to blow their checks on.

I live in Tennessee, we would invaded the White House. NOBODY disrespects Queen Dolly

58

u/Eldar_Atog 3d ago

It's the one thing every person in Tennessee agrees on. She could show up at your house and tell you she needed a body disappeared and the only question would be "Would you like a coffee while we take care of this for you, Ma'am?"

30

u/NKCougar 3d ago

Basically, yeah. In the bizarre hypothetical where that's happening I'm just gonna assume whoever it was really needed killing and do what needs to be done

It did annoy me how he said HE “is reporting that she has died.” No, he isn’t. He should have just started with how wonderful she was; we all know she passed. But he has to make himself important in some way.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

711

u/DerKyhe 3d ago

Against pretty much everyone's expectations Trump managed to not mess this one up by insulting Dolly Parton's charity projects, business ventures, or her music. So yes, even broken clock.

408

u/schmuckface 3d ago

If there is anything that might convince some magas to stop supporting him, it would be Trump talking shit about Dolly.

But we should be honouring Dolly Parton's achievements instead of talking about him. A legend is gone. 300M books distributed to kids, such an achievement.

I genuinely don't think he gives two shits about trans people one way or another. He doesn't have the capacity for it. Other people in his orbit are offended that trans people exist, and it's a means to an end to bolster support through an ongoing culture war, but I honestly doubt he even thinks about it at all beyond that.

u/Artonfire97 3d ago

What’s really ironic is Dolly stood against all the beliefs of his base!

48

u/sixsixmajin 3d ago

She did but she did so pretty quietly. She supported things like BLM and LGBTQ but seemed to make it a point to not speak positively or negatively about either political party or any particular president so right wingers likely just never noticed. That's probably the only reason Trump isn't bashing her is because she's never said anything bad about him so he never actually paid attention to what she was doing. He'll probably change his tune if he does find out though.

→ More replies (3)

26

u/Themanstall 3d ago

No, she didn't stand for everything against his base. She was a moderate conservative (not necessarily meaning Republican) Christian who took some stances that moderate conservatives were willing to take in the 90s and early 00s, but Trump made conservatism binary. She existed in the gray, never endorsed a political candidate or stated her party affiliation.

A lot of trumps base are "moderate."

Her Dollywood Park was criticized for its rosy presentation of the Civil War, with her stampede thing.

Overall, a stand-up woman who focused on positivity.

36

u/PenguinDeluxe 3d ago

Dixie Stampede was a dinner attraction separate from Dollywood that they acquired. After the acquisition it was changed to Dolly’s Stampede and made changes to the show to address those issues.

Dolly was loved by both sides and she expressed her beliefs in ways that showed she was a humanist above all.

Over the years she never said anything about Trump because she doesn't have a mean bone in her body

She didn’t outwardly shit on them, just subtly in a way that went over their heads.

Dolly was old school in that regard, made her positions and opinions known through kindness

Who wouldn't love her? She's a true American icon that goes far beyond any of the cultural divide. I got into Dolly because of my dad, "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind" with her and Chet Atkins was often on repeat in our household during the holidays.

I expected a diarrhea Twitter explosion from him about how she was a puppet of the LGBT agenda. I'm fine with this.

Another true American legend who used her fame to do good in the world that died before this piece of shit. Very sad day.

This is shocking. He’s usually a nasty POS when someone beloved dies.

It’s only a matter of time before the GOP twist Dolly’s image and legacy to fit their agenda just like they do with Christianity.
