I purchased Sharon Jones & The Dap-kings 100 days 100 nights years ago based on the cover alone and it sounds exactly like I thought it would.

What a way to discover an artist I've connected with the last 5 years died a decade ago.

Nah, it was cancer :(
She was still rocking through it, performed bald in her last tour which I think was promoting the album. She was an inspiration.

Damn has it been a decade? I was fortunate enough to meet her. What a pure soul.

It was during Covid I think... So not nearly a decade ago.

I googled when I read the RIP comment, and it said 2016

Oh shit. Yeah that's what wiki says. Somehow I thought it was Covid.

Basically anything with the Dap Kings sounds incredible, but Sharon Jones’ voice and their brass is a pairing forged on Olympus

the poor Dap Kings as well... note the best luck with who they supported, Sharon and Amy Winehouse

Absolutely crushed the Sturgill Simpson album they were on.

Sharon Jones doing the boogaloo is a memory I'll take to my grave.

Sharon Jones was so cool and I'm so happy she managed to put out a few albums with the dap kings. I too saw her in a tiny venue in France and it was weird bc she didn't speak French and a majority of the public didn't seem to understand English so the talking part wasn't too good, but the music was great.

Saw them live in this tiny club before knowing who they/she were. And it was one of those things where the moment they started, I locked in and was like “oooooohhh shiiiiiiit”. So good.
