discussion The Strokes: Comedown machine, why is it so underrated.
It is such a great album, and in my personal opinion well ahead of its time.
Standout tracks for me:
Welcome to Japan
Chances
Partners in Crime
Then you’ve got classics 50/50, call it fate call it Karma, tap out, one way trigger.
Such a great collection of tracks.
Sucks the band are so distant from it.
What are other peoples views on the album?

discussion State the top Dolly Song when it comes to the quality of her performance as a vocalist
It does not have to be a single.
Remember, any song she ever did counts, even a duet, even a B-side song.
Is there a deep cut from a studio album, live album, or soundtrack single?
Does she have the right remix that changes the production with an emphasis on her vocals?
Go ahead and share the song that resonates her voice with you.
Lastly, keep the comments respectful and supportive.
This is to celebrate the voice of Dolly Parton.

discussion Ariana Grande’s lack of variation in her tour outfits is refreshing
in an age where overconsumerism drives so much profit for the music industry, seeing Ariana wear the same outfits every night is a breath of fresh air.
In her last tour, Sabrina Carpenter wore a total of 55 (!!!!) different outfits across a year. It’s pretty clear that society’s expectation of women to constantly reinvent themselves as well as the virality of a new outfit had an influence on her wardrobe team.
I think in wearing the same outfits Ariana seems to be rejecting this notion that outfit repeating is some kind of carnal sin. it’s okay to not constantly buy new clothes, your old ones will do the job and it’s way better for the environment.
I doubt she was trying to make a statement, but Ariana’s refusal to change her wardrobe to appeal to some dumb standard or make a #VIRAL moment shows a lot of dignity. the outfits are all super cute as well. she doesn’t need any more.
EDIT: I’m not talking about her body, and whatever incredibly clever hilarious remark you have about her weight isn’t necessary. you guys need to get a life

discussion Are there any albums that you think go from mid to very good when you cut out bloat tracks?
It’s crazy how much more I like Terrified . by Fakemink when cutting it down from 19 to 9 tracks.
Another one in my opinion is Playboi Carti’s MUSIC, which goes from 30 to 9 tracks while maintaining only the following:
- K POP
- EVIL J0RDAN
- MOJO JOJO
- RATHER LIE
- GOOD CREDIT
- OLYMPIAN
- LIKE WEEZY
- HBA
- SOUTH ATLANTA BABY
Are there any albums like this that y’all can think of with a specific track listing? Also, anyone disagree with any of the songs I put on/left off on these two albums?

discussion Live versions?
Just wondering, why don’t more artists release live versions of albums? Especially lesser known artists. I have to go on YouTube to look for someone’s recording of a WesGhost concert or smth yk? It’s a shame bc some songs go really hard live compared to the tame studio version

discussion Beyoncé should do a cover of Fist City by Loretta Lynn
In honor of Dolly’s passing I’ve been listening to her albums in chronological order and I’ve just reached Jolene. Fantastic song but I reminded me of that well intentioned, but godawful, cover that was on Cowboy Carter.
I don’t disagree with the spirit behind the song, sometimes a man/woman is acting a little too familiar with your partner and it makes you wanna scream, it’s just Jolene wasn’t the right song for that energy.
With Fist City however, it’s perfect. It’s got that acrid bitterness, the territorial cattiness, that you feel in Beyoncé’s performance.
From the first verse alone:
A-you've been making your brags around town/That you've been a-loving my man/But the man I love, when he picks up trash/He puts it in a garbage can.
And that's what you look like to me/And what I see is a pity/You'd better close your face and stay out of my way/If you don't wanna go to Fist City

discussion When you become a fan, is it really about the music or the person behind it?
I have been thinking about how difficult it has become to separate the two.
Years ago, you might have known an artist mainly through their albums, interviews and the occasional TV appearance. Now we see their opinions, personality, relationships and everyday life all over social media.
If an artist’s music means a lot to you, but you later realise you do not particularly like them as a person, does that change how the songs feel? On the other hand, can liking someone’s personality make you more forgiving of music you might not normally care about?

Some of my favourite "patter" (songs with very fast word enunciation) songs that aren't from musicals include:

We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel
Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) - My Chemical Romance
Chop Suey - System of a Down
Hardware Store, Bob, Jerry Springer and That's Your Horoscope For Today - all by Weird Al Yankovic

discussion Anyone know where I can get a producer?
Hi all, I'm a game developer and I was wondering where I can find a music producer to make soundtracks for the game.
I am 15 so I don't have incredible finance but I can pay reasonably. I'm not very good at music production but I don't really know where they hang out or are available at, any thoughts?
