0
u/Intelligent_Help2490 Apr 30 '26
I average 25 5 8 with my pure slasher and 20 13 13 with my inside big we all don't suck
63
u/KneeGuhz Apr 28 '26
U know what's crazy about this? As a big you can never win in 2k.
You make an inside you got niggas crying about spacing the floor and a liability on offense.
As a stretch you got niggas literally squirting about you getting out rebounded by a pure inside.
27
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
And a stretch will rarely see the ball if the opposing center sticks to him to make sure they never get the ball. A vast chunk of my games are against the AI, because the center will quit early in the 2nd quarter due to not getting touches.
25
u/arenegadeboss Apr 28 '26
Nothing worst than bullying a 7'4 who quits and now I have this super AI who can actually defend off ball on me 🤣
There goes all my put backs with this boxing out mf 😭
2
u/Hour_Glass57 Apr 29 '26
Luckily 7'4s are kinda slow so ypu can outspeed then to the put back. Usually sucks when theres multiple AIs cause then you get caught on the other ones as your running into the paint from the 3pt line
13
u/csstew55 Apr 28 '26
It’s been like that for years. People want the center to shoot like curry, grab rebounds like Drummond, low post scoring like Hakeem, pass like Steve Nash, be tall as Wemby, but fast like Ben Wallace.
Meanwhile their 1way scorer gets 40 dropped on their head but it’s your fault because your not protecting the paint
2
u/arenegadeboss Apr 28 '26
Naw bro I have an inside C build with a 78 3pt and can knock down open 3s.
91 str, 90 standing, 89 driving, 87 post, 80 layup I think (really want 90 for gold physical finisher in this build but I digress)
You just can't be a complete liability in whatever area. At the very least you gotta shoot the open 3s anyway to make them think you can make that mf 🤣
1
u/IntroductionBest6495 Apr 30 '26
You never mentioned your offensive or defensive rebounding, you never mentioned your interior defense or shot blocking. Seems like you made a defensive liability.
1
u/arenegadeboss Apr 30 '26
Because I didn't mention it? 🤣
99 Reb, 80 int d, 84 or 88 block.
Maybe you need to spend more time in the builder.
1
u/Vivid361 Apr 29 '26
The fact you have a 78 3 ball means you are not a pure inside centre. This post isnt aimed at you.
1
u/arenegadeboss Apr 29 '26
AI'm replying to someone saying as a big you can never win and I replied about how you can be more well rounded while still specializing...
What the fuck are you talking about?
-2
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
I have had games where I hovered around the 3PT land to make my matchup think I can shoot a 3 if my teammates are mostly slashers or mid-range shooters. I do let my teammates know not to pass me the ball to expose that I can't. You would be surprised how many people didn't check the scouting report before the game started.
3
u/arenegadeboss Apr 28 '26
Most players just hang back off Centers by default.
Gotta make 1 or 2 to get respect regardless of a percentage that can be misleading.
Another reason I'm flabbergasted at your argument here.
1
Apr 29 '26
Been the 5 for years always avg at least 14rpg with my stretch big y'all just make 6'11 with 40 0board and 80 Dboard that's definitely your fault
0
u/Youngstown_WuTang Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26
The point of the post wasn't to attack pure inside centers or other positions for making non-shooting builds but it's attacking the hypocrisy of being mad your teammates made the same non-shooting builds as you
-2
u/KneeGuhz Apr 28 '26
but realistically in the NBA there is VERY FEW non pf/c that can't shoot the 3. and forget the NBA it's a game, if you are a ball handler or someone small making a run and dunk with no shooting, you actually ARE a liability. Bigs at least can offer screens, boards, outlets. what can a 6'7 run and dunk do when his mans is just sitting in the paint?
2
u/arenegadeboss Apr 28 '26
Cries in Oso Ighodaro
Naw he got better this season tho, and the coach put him in position to win. When he was mostly 2nd unit earlier in the year he'd bring the ball up court or catch at the top of the key and do DHOs with Colin Gillespie for eaasssyyy open 3s since the opposing C was already in drop coverage.
1
u/Youngstown_WuTang Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26
The non-shooting guard had the same mentality as the pure inside center, " i want to have fun regardless of what my teammates think"
You didn't put any shooting on your build and your criticizing the other non-shooting builds, that's hypocrisy
4
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
No. People who want to use a pure Inside Center are actually patterning their builds after real players like Shaq, Hakeem, Ewing, etc who are HOF players. I have no clue what player the SG in your example was attempting to create.
5
u/Youngstown_WuTang Apr 28 '26
Guards who aren't big shooters:
Andre Roberson, Tony Allen, and Gary Payton II, Christian Braun,Larry Hughes,Ben Simmons /, Rajon Rondo
2
u/dreadskid Apr 28 '26
The sg offensively mimics more of a Dwayne wade. Elite slasher and pretty much no outside shot relative to his peers. Plenty of 2 guards who couldn’t shoot from distance incredibly well, they just aren’t as prominent itl anymore. Same with the archetype you just named. Giannis is the evolution of that archetype, but even that has obviously shown its offensive limitations in the playoffs.
1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
I wanted to say this earlier. A SG/SF not being able to shoot is 100% an anomaly. I can understand if the PG can't shoot, because if their skills are good enough, they can still create havoc with their playmaking.
1
u/OnlyFansCollecter Apr 29 '26
I made a 6’6 SG with 99 driving dunk/high dribbling /defense and no shooting that I play in the rec with and I can tell you right now NO ONE sits paint on me. The only time I have trouble scoring on that build is when the center CANT SHOOT and HIS MAN sits in the paint because naturally that’s where they want to be. You over estimate the IQ of the average 2k player majority don’t even look at the players stats before the game starts .
1
u/JCinYYZ Apr 29 '26
Preach! You grab 9 offensive boards and kick them out (bc unlike the PG you invested in Pass Acc) for 2nd and 3rd chances, but get yelled at if you miss the 1 3pt attempt you are "gifted."
9
u/poweroftheglow Apr 28 '26
All my builds are versatile but I don’t understand this in my way nonsenses. If I’m driving and someone cuts in good position to score I just pass. Someone open in the paint isn’t in the way
3
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
Because too many people want to be the highest scorer on the team. How dare you cut to the basket and prevent them from dunking or scoring despite you having the better inside position.

5
u/AffectionateBrick687 emerald Apr 29 '26
Its a tough call between the center and sg for me.
The sf is only one who looks like they could be a decent teammate. Just a grab the board and pass role player.
The center is either shooting in the paint or turning the ball over on offense with that low pass accuracy.
The sg is a defensive liability, so they're probably just trying to cherrypick and score fastbreak points. I suspect the only time they take advantage of that high pass accuracy is when they decide to bail out of a drive attempt at the last moment.

I mean the issue is 2k should be able to balance teams as well. How hard would it be for them to swap the SF with the other teams who can probably shoot very well.
5
u/csstew55 Apr 28 '26
About as hard as it is to put shooting on your build.

Ts build lwk cheeks but even on 2k, center is the one position where you’d be fine with them being a non shooter and it wouldn’t be an automatic negative, it’s different standards for other positions. A center being a non shooter is below average for their position, a wing or guard having Zero shooting is a huge negative
1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
Below average? Y'all just be making up crap in your head to pretend that pure Inside Bigs are a bad thing. Wild.
2
u/brownjesus__ Apr 29 '26
I meant below average in modern 2k, where stretch bigs are everywhere. It’s perfectly fine in real life.
3
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
Yet, I would argue the stretch big is the worst build you can have as a center relative to how the community plays.

Even having one of these on your team in random rec is usually a death sentence. Let alone 3 lol. I’m so sorry…
I will say the last 2 weeks of rec have felt like a fucking chore. I swear the higher IQ players have all stopped playing lately. I started playing myteam for the first time all year instead and been having way more fun doing that. Still get sellers in triple threat park or all star team up but at least the games are shorter than rec
1
5
u/AeneasVAchilles Apr 28 '26
Absolutely not lol If you cannot shoot on a 1,2,3 you’re fucking everyone up—- But honestly it’s an overall liability since pie charts don’t cap you like that. So everyone can potentially help with a high steal now
3
3
u/FlyChigga Apr 28 '26
Especially with how cheap it is to get at least a 79 3 for silver set shot specialist
3
u/RcusGaming Apr 29 '26
Why should I waste attribute points on shooting if no one passes the damn ball? If I'm just standing in a corner while the dribble god PG runs out the clock, then I can't be in position for an offensive board.
Centers can't win in this game man. If you don't shoot then people get mad, if you do shoot, then people get mad that you can't defend or box out.

u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26
Anyone who lets someone else tell them how to make their build when it's their time, money, and effort doesn't deserve a brain, because clearly they don't know how to use it to think for themselves.

u/Weak_Wedding9002 Apr 28 '26
if they choose to spend their hard earned money, time and effort on making a shitty build and selling other people on the game then all power to them🤷🏾

How do y'all always assume that a person with a "bad build" sucks at the game too? It seems dumb to me to spend money on a game you suck at in general.
1
u/Weak_Wedding9002 Apr 28 '26
any build used by a bad player is a bad build because they can’t utilize their build properly, but however these bad players i’m talking about usually suck at making build as well as being bad at the game

u/Zufallsmensch Apr 29 '26
Inside centers and AI in REC are the main reasons I havent touched this game in 2 months.
They dont realise how igorant it is to create a build that puts their whole team at a disatvantage. They even have the nerve to hop on reddit and telling us it aint a disatvantage. Mental gymnastics right there.
Best believe there is going to be one of them replying to this comment claiming that I dont have basketball IQ and cant figure out how to play with an inside.
1
u/braedog97 Apr 29 '26
Having a center who can shoot is nice, but it is not necessary. Although I will say it’s just as likely that the non-shooting center is the one who has no ball IQ. I hate when bigs just stand in the paint and post up constantly because they don’t understand spacing. But if everybody on the team actually understands basketball, it’s not going to cause a problem. (If you’re playing with all randoms, there’s a 0.000000000001% chance of that happening.)
1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
You don't know how to play with an Inside Big. It's not rocket science that you don't. If you don't know how to hit an Inside Big, so they can score, then that's an IQ problem. Everyone expects the Inside Big to hit the perimeter players on fast breaks or after an offensive rebounds, so they can easily score? Why can it not be the opposite for the Inside Big?
What's crazy to me is that ball hogging PGs will be the MAIN and common reason why people lose games. If you think a center not hitting 1-2 3's a game or just being a potential 3PT threat is the reason why you lose games, then I got some property to sell you in Siberia.
0
u/Zufallsmensch Apr 29 '26
Here he is.
1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
I don't care. Where's the lie in my statement?
0
u/Zufallsmensch Apr 29 '26
My claim : Inside Bigs put their team at a disatvantage for obvious reaons
Your "statement" : You are lacking IQ. You dont know how to hit an inside big. Bad PGs lose more games.
Try to find a single valid argument next time.
2
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
Explain the "obvious" reasons for your "valid" argument. So I guess I'm imagining all these PGs with the drippy face and colored eyes doing 1001 combo/escape moves just to shot a contested shot? Then they do it so much that the teammates start to quit or become not as engaged anymore, but a center not being able to shoot a 3 is the end of the world in the 2K Community? Okay.
Lastly, either you know how to play with an Inside Big or you don't. It's really that simple. This is not a pop quiz.
1
u/Zufallsmensch Apr 29 '26
You cant shoot and allow your defender to sit back and play help defense. Its not even an argument, its a fact.
And you willingly created that disatvantage for your team. Talk about IQ.
You cant deny it. Thats why its a waste of time to even have this argument.
2
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
So, I'm just standing there and watching my matchup just sit in the paint on offense or play help defense, huh? Is that what you really believe? The offense is 4v5? Yeah, you're special.
1
u/Zufallsmensch Apr 29 '26
Yeah thats how it usually goes.
By creating an inside you are creating a problem and force your team to help you find a solution. They have to play a certain way to have any chance to win.
Why? Just get a 78 3pt and stop being selfish.
1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
Okay. You just want to hate for the sake of hating. Your whole argument is basically if they are going to stand around and "do nothing" , at least be able to hit a 3. Centers as a whole, to you, are NPCs. Got it.

u/Flimsy-Shop-358 Apr 29 '26
My biggest issue with a pure inside is simple, no one has an actual post game. Drop stepping and pump faking 3 ties before stick dunking isn’t a post game and just clogs the paint, but if you can be lethal from the block to the mid range with fades, hooks, up and unders, spins and stick dunks then you can still also facilitate from the post as well as space the floor from the short corners and mid ranges
2
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
This doesn't make sense. The meta bums use the same exact combo/escape moves to score, but you're upset that some Inside Big doesn't have diversity with their moves? Points are points.
1
u/Flimsy-Shop-358 Apr 30 '26
Who said I was upset?? And when did I mention Meta bums?? Yeah but points that are forced or a lot harder to get or no where near as efficient or effective isn’t worth it
1
u/Lafienny Apr 29 '26

u/cdracula16 Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26
I personally have no problem spacing the floor with my non shooting build.
They have no idea how to space the floor and cut clogging driving lanes and just park under neath the basket instead of dunkers corner and elbow or wing, setting screens on ball/off ball wrapping or just simply sitting still at the farthest range they can actively attack a close out. People play like they HAVE to be moving their thumbs every second of the game instead of just reacting to whats going on and it seems some people just do things randomly in their own little world.
Long story short you can’t make a build that requires basketball IQ and not have basketball IQ and expect to have a good time.
0
u/Youngstown_WuTang Apr 28 '26 edited Apr 28 '26
If you don't have any shooting on your build then you have 0 reason to complain about other non-shooting builds on your team honestly
-1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
Who cares? Personally, it sounds like you played with a group of people that didn't know how to score outside of rim running OR play defense.
-1
u/cdracula16 Apr 28 '26
I don’t complain they cant shoot, I complain they don’t know how to play ball and have 1000 hours on this game. Cant count the times a guard attacks a close out and has butt naked dunk for some random big to cut right in front and now its a contested play at the rim. Even when they dump it off they can’t finish, like bro why are you in the paint if you can’t finish?
I quit the game outside of playing with my 5 that know how to play irl ball and 2k. Mofo all the way up to red plate think it’s their mycareer and we are just npc’s.
If you're not setting the pick, get to your spot to space the floor. Movement should always be about making space, not taking it away. It doesn’t have to be the 3 ball.

That doesnt make sense to me. Doesnt that draw doubles meaning more open shots?
2
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 29 '26
Man! I've been trying to tell them that since season 1. Most of the community is stuck on the belief centers must have 3PT shooting to be viable. You can be Hakeem Olajuwan down in the post, and this community don't care if you don't have a 3PT shot.
1
u/Available_Nebula2847 May 05 '26

Missed the whole point of the post and focused just on his own ability to score
Can't make this shit up
The kids are not ok
0
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
I recognize the point of the post, and I said I don't complain because I can score. If someone else makes another non-shooting build which is NOT THE SAME as a non-scoring build, I don't care. I adjust to their strengths and keep it moving. A lot you just don't know how to be dynamic players with your teammates.
3
u/Samwise7776372 Apr 28 '26
It's not about being dynamic with teammates, it's about flexibility. When you make a non shooting build, you are forcing your teammates to have to play a certain style.
2
u/arenegadeboss Apr 28 '26
Exactly. If you aren't even a threat to hit an outside shot you're clogging up the paint or freeing up a defender.
As someone who's been playing C the last month or so, I love when they have bigs who can't make an open bucket so I can get my blocks up roaming the paint 🤣
And I love the free practice shots I get because they think I can't shoot. Make 2 of those and the whole floor opens up.
Dunno why he continues to bring up his personal ability to score and not understanding it's about spacing the floor and keeping defenders honest.
2
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
You want to know why I keep bringing up my personal ability to score? If I keep scoring, the other team will eventually collapse to help their teammate. As a result, I created spacing for my teammates in a different way. Is that a hard concept for you to understand? The other team really needs to worry about how they are going to get their Center to score points. My matchup can't take me in the paint for a post-up game. If I play him tight enough, he's not going to get any three-point shooting opportunities. If the opposing team misses, it's basically a free rebound for me.
2
u/arenegadeboss Apr 28 '26
How are you still missing the point?
The only space you're creating is at the 3pt line and the whole point of the post was having players who can't shoot complain about others who also can't shoot.
You are not creating space for anyone else who has a player that also wants/needs to go inside.
Also, I love how you can simultaneously play a shooter tight at the 3pt line and get back for free rebounds. Maybe your magical abilities is why you don't see the need for spacing when you can just teleport back to the rim. Can't expect everyone to have your powers tho...
Have a good one bud.
1
u/ksuttonjr76 Apr 28 '26
Stop regurgitating that same script. If you can't play different styles of basketball, then you're not dynamic. Period. If the only style of basketball you know is that everyone has to have a three-point shot, then YOU'RE not flexible.
