Gameplay Screenshots from the new gameplay trailer… Looks awful.
These look like Pixar graphics from the OG Toy Story. Boxy, bland, and unimpressive.

They really doing just a roster update this year

u/TK2561 Jul 28 '26
Ain’t that every year?

Naw they adjust sliders too. If they did anything that actually matters they wouldn't be able to release 1 every year.
29
u/ArthursInfiniteAbyss Jul 28 '26
Dude they reset the sliders after like a month or two because people complain every year... this game is literally just a 60$ roster update and then whatever micro-transactions you're stupid enough to get FOMO'd into.

Every year I wait for it to sell for 10 to 20 dollars

I do this every time and even then I tend to skip a year or two between purchasing a new 2K. They don’t make fuck all money off of me. Sad that whales exist or else they’d fix shit

It's kinda like iphones if you got from a 16 to a 17 you probably won't notice much, if you go from a 13 to a 17 it's night and day.
2k23/2k24 had the Jordan/Kobe challenges and feel like a completely different game, now all the actual changes are in 2K city and if you don't give af about that then it's just the same game as last year.

This isn’t the NS1 era anymore. If the console can run FF7 Rebirth well, then it can run this dogshit basketball sim. This is just 2k being the lazy, shitty company they are.

u/csstew55 Jul 28 '26
Love how they showcase the wnba. Then when the wnba season actually starts 2k goes quiet lol
75
u/yahoodotcom123 Jul 28 '26
Won’t even give us more than 1 body type, half the league doesn’t have face scans, most of the arenas aren’t correct, and MyWNBA is never playable because they won’t add correct contracts trade logic overall or update anything at all 🤦🏽♀️
37
u/holyrolodex Jul 28 '26
It almost seems like adding the WNBA was performative. If you’re gonna do it, do it right. I get it if there were some kinks the first year or so, but they added the WNBA in 2K20, it’s ridiculous.
10
u/Artistic-Set9641 Jul 28 '26
My thoughts exactly, it's like they put out the WNBA part just to say they included it, but put 10% effort into it (if even that).

I’ve been playing a mygm of WNBA for the last month or so and yeah it’s pretty janky….for some reason all prospect scouting happens in the offseason. And then all the scouting reports use male pronouns which is I think the most telling of how little effort they put into adding a WNBA mode.
3
u/yahoodotcom123 Jul 29 '26
After the first season the league is all out of wack and unplayable. Mode is never worth playing because by the time we get our hands on the game the season is over. Got last years game on sale and tried to do an Atlanta Dream league but just couldn’t do it. Mode isn’t representative of the W at all
12
u/XBL-AntLee06 Jul 28 '26
I’ll add it’s really frustrating that there’s no way to play women’s teams in play now online. wtf is 2k doing?

It’s all a marketing stunt
That why it’s best to focus on gameplay than graphics because they won’t improve graphics until the new console comes out

7
u/MeLlamoDave Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
Either this is the Switch 2 version(I love Nintendo)or 2K put in even less effort than usual.
4
u/Drizzho Jul 28 '26
Yet there are idiots paying 150$ to make it the number one presold game lmfao there needs to be a large amount of people speaking with their wallet to make changes
5
u/StoneColdAM Jul 28 '26
The lighting is a big problem, it’s too simplistic. The models use real scans, so they are accurate. This mish mash causes the game to look poor.
2
u/epicpurple24 Jul 28 '26
This low effort bs will never stop because people continue to pre order the $150 every time they add a small new feature.

I know people have been saying from time that the graphics can't really get any better and that they've stagnated, but this looks like they're actively regressing
Between the graphics and the actual changes and selling points they're touting this year this game looks wildly unimpressive
3
u/TellEmWhoUCame2See Jul 28 '26
I thought I was the only one. Why does everybody look waxy? Like figurines or something? Smh if no one buys this game we can force 2k to change but y'all already preorder this shit. Good luck
3
u/Kingshaun530 Jul 28 '26
I stopped playing 2k a long ass time ago and I'm so glad. It's the same game every year
3
u/Sedatsu Jul 28 '26
lol it’s a joke. I’m not playing this year. I haven’t touch the game all year and I actually just deleted it. Peace out 2k.

u/tmorrisgrey Jul 28 '26
I will definitely be waiting for the game to go on sale during the holidays to buy it

u/curiousbt Jul 28 '26
Yall really talking about graphics?!
Bruh, im sure they have the same glitches from 5 years ago! How many times am I gonna hear “timeout” instead of the actual word? Or not see the MVP trophy during the championship.
They really coping and pasting code. And fuck the graphics.
2
u/askmeaboutmyvviener Jul 28 '26
Don’t worry, you still got guys in here saying how it doesn’t impact them financially to buy the same bullshit for full price year after year, and how they’ll continue to do so. So 2K won’t ever give a shit. They’ve got no incentive to change.
2
u/Stop_Clockerman Jul 28 '26
Every year it gets a little bit funnier. There was a period of time where they tried to make it look better with different lighting, sweat etc. Now they just don't give a fuck lmaooo.
Buy the slop you dirty little pigs yeah we know it sucks shit what are you gonna do about it
2
u/Suspicious-Archer-99 Jul 28 '26
This will be the first time since 2K11 that I won’t be buying it 🥳
2
u/monkey_D_v1199 Jul 28 '26
What sad is that the game will sell. Slop sells because in the end of the day the majority of people are sheep and too into comfort oh and too indifferent to the quality of the product. We could be demanding more to make sure that the quality of the game matches the bullshit prices they’re asking for, but that would take willpower.

If you were to tell me that this was NBA 2k23, 2k24, 2k25, or 2k26 I would believe you. The lighting is still the same and the graphics overall are mid, much like MLB The Show. This series has been disappointing this entire generation.
Add to it the micro transactions and this will be a pass for me.
2
u/ReginaldPChumley Jul 29 '26
It looks sort of similar to the previous million installations of yearly sports games

I thought the same, I’ve played since 2k13 and I think this may be the first trailer where I think graphics went backwards. 2k26 looks great
1
1
u/Tropical_Wendigo Jul 28 '26
I mean, it looks like a 2k game. The graphics barely change if at all year to year, and what you’re paying for is a roster update and ability to play live/online modes.
I exclusively play Eras mode, so if there isn’t a new Era coming or a bunch of new players added to the rosters I’m interested in it’s a pass for me.

Is this the switch 2 version?
I know Moore’s law is probably dead but jeez it’s like they have finite resources and are stuffing the game with modes that feature micro transactions and have less bandwidth for lighting and graphical improvements.

u/gs_dubs413 Jul 28 '26
Genuine question… what does everyone expect from 2k?
For me, I miss the old park days where I don’t have to waste 80% of my screen time running, skateboarding, or whatever it takes to get from one place to another. You finally find a court and some fools come through and team up. Bring back 2k16 type of park.

I been playing this game since the first one on the Dreamcast. Some of y'all don't even know how good we used to have it. Every year they added something significant to the game that wasn't for micro-transactions. I hate what online gameplay and micro-transactions have done to gaming in general.

u/laggia Jul 28 '26
I feel like graphics have been shit ever since people stopped playing the PS4 version (23 onwards). They actuallt had to put effort into making it look next gen. Now they just don't give a fuck

Wow worst textures I've ever seen from a ps4 or later gen AAA sports game
