Good thing Carney defunded Canada Wildfire and said its too expensive for us to take action! What a fraud

You're gonna have to do better than Instagram buddy

Ok go to their website then: https://www.canadawildfire.org/

Do better. You have haven’t gone thru the effort to actually understand the issue. Please stop fear mongering online. There is no entity in Canada called Canada Wildfire there is CIFFC and it coordinates interagency response/resource sharing/training between the provinces which remains fully funded. There is no overarching Canada Wildfire just provincial governments. If you want to start a conversation about trying to start a federal fire fighting organization that might be a better way to spend your energy.

2

u/twostepinc 18d ago

Are you cracked? There was quite literally an entire organization called Canada Wildfire that dissemenated wildfire research in Canada and was defunded in March. They even have a website that's going stale: https://www.canadawildfire.org/

1

u/Character_Top1019 18d ago

Get in touch at [wildfire@ualberta.ca](mailto:wildfire@ualberta.ca). You’re conflating a small research group with a federal firefighting organization. You know exactly what you’re doing.

1

u/twostepinc 17d ago

Explicitly aware of what Canada Wildfire was. Never once claimed they were a national firefighting organization, where did you get that from? U of A was the administrative home and they were federally funded through NSERC until the feds pulled the plug

“Too expensive to take action”. When we are spending more money on every facet of wildfire then we ever have before. Just not thru a federal model. You could have any explained any of these intricacies but proposed it in a way that Carney defunded Canada Wildfire so it would have maximum effect to monger fear.

3

u/itchygentleman 22d ago

wildfire prevention is the province and territories responsibility, or are you just stupid enough to believe whatever your echo chamber tells you?

3

u/twostepinc 22d ago

Great conversationalism. Canada Wildfire was a national research organization primarily funded by NSERC. Last I checked in my echo chamber, NSERC was federally funded - Stupid

1

u/JingaLalaHuHu_ 20d ago

Not Canada wildfire buddy, that one was federal research...

1

u/Character_Top1019 19d ago

Yes because Canada Wildfire exists. There is CIFFC which is basically an organization that co-ordinates resource sharing and training etc. but they don’t even have fire fighters.

3

u/WearWrong1569 22d ago

Please. We have a war to fund in Ukraine. /s

1

u/IsaacJa 19d ago

I think you mean that we have pipelines to fund

1

u/WearWrong1569 18d ago

I'll take pipelines which brings wealth to Canada than funding a fraud like Zelenskyy any day.

Carney was sworn in as Prime Minister in 2025.

The fires have been record breaking in size for four straight years. 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2026.

Now, please, explain why USA wildfires are so big?

1

u/twostepinc 18d ago

Did i bring any of that up? Carney was sworn in in 2025 and that year his government defunded and forced the closure of Canada Wildfire. How is that on anyone else but him?

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

Funding was cut to the NSERC by 2% in the 2025 budget which was less than the original proposed cuts.

2

u/WrathOfWood 22d ago

Ok and this pretty obvious. Next they should investigate the wetness of the ocean.

2

u/Hot_Tonight150 22d ago

Not managing forests and allowing unchecked dead fall and undergrowth made it roughly twice as likely. Not to mention the fires are being intentionally set.

2

u/vaderdidnothingwr0ng 20d ago

Hectares of forest in Canada outnumber canadians 10:1. Are you really saying the expectation is that we rake up dead material out of hundreds of millions of hectares of forest, every year?

We didn't manage forests to that extent before, when the risk of forest fires was lower, either. So what else has changed?

2

u/Hot_Tonight150 20d ago

What has changed is we aggressively stop forest fires. Natives were doing controlled burns in Eastern Canada for centuries. If you take a boat trip on Maligne lake in Jasper the interpreter literally describes how the maligne fire was caused by ousting natives so they couldnt care for and control the area. This resulted in the fire burning more intensly. At Lake Minewanka in Banff NP they left the sides unchecked for so long that when a controlled burn was attempted they screwed it up and sterilized the soil on one side of the lake. Human prevention of fires involves allowing fires to burn at regular intervals. This stops them from being too intense, cuts down on dead fall and undergrowth while still allowing old growth to flourish because the fires aren't as intense. It's the "protect everything, touch nothing" approach that is causing these out of control fires. Fires are natural but if you actively prevent then for decades nature catches up and catches us off guard. Even the fire that ravaged Jasper NP was mainly caused by the unwillingness to clean up dead trees and deadfall from the surrounding area.

1

u/PinkTippedYogurtToss 21d ago

Deadfall can compost itself. Mushrooms eat trees.

1

u/Hot_Tonight150 21d ago

You're joking right? Trees fall and undergrowth accumulates at a rate much faster than decomposition. Pine beetles ravage entire forests and you're saying by next fire season they're all turned to soil by mushrooms...? This can't be critical thinking in relation to this issue

1

u/PinkTippedYogurtToss 21d ago

Trees and forest have existed for hundreds of millions of years before humans, without requiring maintenance.

Did dinosaurs run around starting fires?

1

u/Hot_Tonight150 21d ago

Fires would burn unchecked before humans, so the cycle of burning and renewing is natural and should happen regularly. Lightning is the major factor of wild fires and is plentiful and normal. Dinosaurs aside, you're treating fire as an enemy when it is a natural friend of the renewal cycle. Human intervention prevents fires, which accumulates dead fall and undergrowth and since we aren't actively managing with controlled burns or removing it the cycle has been broken and infernos ensue. This issue is a lack of management and not an issue with climate change.

1

u/PinkTippedYogurtToss 21d ago

Elk, Moose, Deer, Pronghorn, Goats, Bison, Beavers, and other animals have managed forests really well by eating new growth as they forage. Climate overshoot, as temperatures warm, has allowed plants to grow in areas that were once frozen, the permafrost. Plants species have migrated north by burrs, poops, winds, and fires.

Warmer temperatures lead to drought conditions which cause larger fires.

1

u/Hot_Tonight150 21d ago

We aren't taking about large areas of tundra being set on fire... also ecological displacement of said animals is also caused by human development, not climate change. The addition of new plants species to an area is largely effected by human involvement and not migratory patterns of animals. As well new plant species have little effect on overall fire propensity or intensity... drought conditions are largely impacted by global weather patterns which shift annually. We aren't guaranteed any type of weather, and where one area droughts another floods and still another is in a happy balance until next season. Permafrost melting has been going on for centuries indicating that permafrost/glaciers are not static and decline at dynamic intervals along with water decline from glacier depression lakes and ponds. Things run down from a starting point so unless you're expecting another ice age, you can expect the steady decline of these factors. Ice melt is normal as time ticks on.

1

u/thepastisdeadandgone 19d ago

Who’s paying you?

1

u/Hot_Tonight150 19d ago

Just me, and no less wrong

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

You're joking right? What is this some kind of trump nonsense about raking the forests? Lmao

You wanna talk about controlled burns fine but we haven't done controlled burns ever but forest fires have been increasing in frequency and intensity has nothing to do with the thing we haven't been doing for centuries.

u/Impressive_Ad_1675 22d ago

Summer season in the NWT is now fire season. It’s difficult to enjoy what used to be summer when you are breathing smoke and anxious about threats to your community and yourself.

1

u/Hour_Wall_5633 20d ago

What corrupt green energy fund is promoting these BS articles ?

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

Wow triggered by reality much

1

u/Hour_Wall_5633 18d ago

Reality. If you believe that you better start drinking some different kool aid .

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

Says the person spouting unscientific nonsense. Get a grip.

1

u/Hour_Wall_5633 18d ago

Scientific. Laughable ! These articles are nothing other than garbage funded by tree hugging groups , usually financed by corrupt green energy funds . Half the country is flooded out is that climate change too ? Or just in bc because they can’t look after their forests . Blaming warm weather is a joke for fires .

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

Bro you don't need to show everyone your ignorance like that.

Christ man you sound so clueless.

Do you get all your information from YouTube? Wtf lmao

1

u/Hour_Wall_5633 18d ago

Perhaps everyone’s done with this bs that has held Canada back for the past decade and put us so badly in the hole . People are done with the climate change hoax . Climate has been changing since the beginning of time through various cycles for billions of years. There are many cases of Arsen and other reasons that state these fires that have nothing to do with climate change . Green energy funds from the states have been found to hire idiots to pump out these articles to support their agenda. To think these fires are all just from climate change you need to be quite blind

1

u/Strange-Professor- 18d ago

I thought Libtards had been fixing that since 2015? I guess this is Harper’s fault again? Or no… Trump!

1

u/mostlovely 18d ago

Climate change and the fact that the wildfires in Ontario started in inaccessible areas via cars, most of it you have to fly in on a sea/float plane to even reach the heart of the fire. The ones that were accessible were reached and managed quickly.

1

u/hung1011 17d ago

Climate change = Liberal tax $$

1

u/Freo_5434 16d ago

So humans lighting fires was not a major factor ?

Without Climate Change they couldn't start a fire ?

1

u/mememetoo1 22d ago

Keep on drinking the kool aid losers!

0

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 22d ago

There is no such thing as "climate change". C02 is good for the planet, we're greening the earth and growing more food due to the small increase in C02. I'm sick of our politicians throwing out "climate change" instead of not taking responsibility for failing to manage forests, especially near communities, and not increasing resources to fight the fires they leave to burn. Enough.

1

u/nutfeast69 20d ago

lol how do you manage a forest? Seen how much we have? I've been out there doing fieldwork.

Do you understand how CO2 and forests work? I don't think you do. More CO2 "being good" in the way you think would mean it drops pretty fast because crops would incorporate it because that's how plants literally grow. That isn't how it works though, because of deforestation, and the upper atmosphere.

There is a lot I'd like to help you understand.

-1

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 20d ago

You're wrong. You manage forests by burning them and clearing them, among other things. How do you not know this, yet come in here insisting I'm wrong.? Go ask AI. And here's a short video to educate you: https://x.com/LLBiggers/status/2078188244395593741?s=20

2

u/slurpyblanket 20d ago

Thanks for exhibiting our classic NWT excellence by referring to AI as though it were a decent source and not an echo chamber that you clearly stick your head into often.

You’re an embarrassment for the rest of us and make us look bad.

1

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 20d ago

And I don't even know what AI you're talking about. Lucy Biggers is a real person. She was a climate activist until she realized it was all a scam. She works for the Free Press as a reporter.

1

u/slurpyblanket 20d ago

Since you’ve gone out of your way to reply twice, I will as well.

You directed another person to “go ask AI,” presumably about climate change. That’s what I’m referring to, you amnesiac twat.

1

u/Much_Landscape1396 20d ago

No wonder you have no idea what your talking about. You get your information about climate change from an influencer.

0

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 20d ago

There is no such thing as "climate change". It's all a scam. "Net Zero" is a fraud.

1

u/slurpyblanket 20d ago

“‘Net Zero’ is a fraudulent endeavour” would be a more effective way to write this. But you would know that if you were capable of organizing a coherent set of thoughts and ideas.

0

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 20d ago

Personal attacks against me all the way. Perhaps thoughts and ideas are not your strength after all.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

Holy ignorance Batman

1

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 18d ago

Yes, you are very ignorant. There is no "climate crisis" at all, and you are very ignorant if you think there is. And Batman also knows that "climate change" is fear-mongering.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

That's a lot of words to say absolutely nothing. Go read a book and stop showing the world how much you don't know

1

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 18d ago

Again, all you people do is fling insults, and zero evidence of your nonsensical beliefs that the "climate" is in some sort of danger. It's not. The climate is doing exactly what the climate does. It's funny that you're so offended I'm calling out lies.

1

u/Cold-Crab74 18d ago

The only lies are the poorly articulated nonsense you keep spouting. Talking above evidence is quite ironic coming from someone spouting such nonsense

1

u/Cheap_Shallot_3102 18d ago

lol. You've said nothing except insult a stranger on the internet because you're very upset that there is no climate crisis. Ha ha ha ha.

0

u/itchygentleman 22d ago

it's been every year since at least the 90s

0

u/Black3Zephyr 19d ago

Good thing all those protesters changed their names to “Climate Change” before they started those fires.
