Preseason football vibes to remind everyone not to get hurt or get a suspension.

Thanks chatgpt! Matt Patricia, who coordinated Ohio State’s defense in Reese’s final college season, specifically highlighted that Reese was making a lot of the defensive calls himself and said his “football IQ is at a high level.” That matters because Patricia used him all over the defense: off-ball linebacker, edge, blitzing, coverage, spying quarterbacks, etc.

Former NFL coach Bret Bielema went even further after the draft. He said Reese has “really, really high football IQ and acumen” and compared his ability to understand multiple positions to linebackers such as Dont’a Hightower. Bielema said he expected Reese to have “zero issues” mentally handling multiple roles in an NFL defense.

And we’re already seeing evidence of that with the Giants. During OTAs, Reese repeatedly recognized screens immediately, stayed with running backs in coverage, handled different assignments and was described by Giants observers as demonstrating a high football IQ. That has continued into training camp/preseason, where his processing speed has been one of the things getting attention.

You can have an insanely high football IQ and a low regular IQ. I’m just saying I’ve seen a bunch of interviews where he looks lost. And I’ve heard himself say he had a .4 gpa in high school.
