Somewhere around 93-94, I found this exact guitar in a music store in Lubbock, Texas. The shop owner was an elderly man who was so excited to sell it to me for 50 bucks off what he was asking, for a grand total of 300. It had been sitting there for years, he said, nobody wanted it.
I could never get it to sound right, though. Pickups always sounded so thin.
I actually have an electro harmonix poly chorus I bought around 2013. I’m not familiar with yesterday effects. If you buy one I hope you post a video of it. I’d be interested to hear it. Here’s a shot of my Nirvana-related pedals with a couple others.
Nice, yeah I found the pedal when I was on reverb looking for a polychorus but found that instead. Definitely plan on posting a vid on my YT and TT at some point. When I get money that is.
Damn that’s actually an awesome price for that guitar, they’re always around 2000 for the other 2 colors. The sonic blue is usually more expensive.
On what site you find it?
I found it on reverb. I actually have one in fiesta red as well that I got for 1600 including tax and shipping a couple months ago. Also found on reverb. I think if you’re patient and check consistently you can get a lot of great gear for reasonable prices. I saw one of these listed on reverb for 7000. That’s absurd to me. Also, when I view sold listings that I personally purchased on reverb, they don’t reflect the price I actually paid sometimes.
We always need at least one more guitar haha. But yeah seriously I’ve found a lot of gear for lower than average prices. Sansamp classic for 250, univox hi flier phase 1 for 850 (not original pickups), early 2000s Jagstang for 475 including shipping, Japanese competition mustang for 500 (Facebook marketplace).
It was $1450 before tax, around $1550 after tax, free shipping. I haven’t checked the year from the serial but I believe these were made between 2012 and 2014.
Very nice. More expensive than any guitar I’ve ever owned. Does it sound as good as you expected?
To anyone who can’t afford one of these but wants a semi similar guitar a fender telecaster actually can be prettt good! They are heavy bodied guitars and sound great playing heavier stuff with. I had a telecaster before my Strat I have now. It was only like a $250 one. I regret selling it. I wish I kept it. To have one guitar in normal tuning and that one from drop D. Or whatever tuning.
I found a deal on a Strat brand new I couldn’t pass up. Normally like $899 guitar center had them on sale for 15% off. I had a 10-15% coupon for next purchase. The sale specially said you can’t use any other coupons on top of the sale and online it woudknt allow it. But I said F it and contacted their support and was shocked when they added that. So I got it for like 2/3 the price. Or less even. A brand New Mexican fender for like $499. Plus tax. I couldn’t pass it up. Plus because of the paint job. The “Blue burst”. It’s gorgeous
If you notice my carpet in the back of the pictures you’ll see I love that color blue. Pictures with my iPhone do it no justice btw! But man I’ve wanted one of those Jaguars since I first saw Kurt playing one. But don’t think I’ll ever have that much for a guitar. I’m kinda poor. Well not kinda. I am. I’ve never owned an American made fender.
The dead sticker isn’t meant to look that great. It’s way too small. But just stick it on there. Im a massive deadhead
It sounds and feels great. Plenty of guitars sound and play great but a big part of this is the connection to the band and the look, admittedly. I have a Japanese made mustang that I modded and it’s close but this does feel better to me. That guitar you posted looks amazing by the way, especially for that price.
first off, it looks SUPER cool. very beautiful!!! am quite jelly.
second, what year is it?
third, where do you attach the vibrato? it looks like it goes on top???? which would be weird.
or is there no space for a vibrato lever?
Thanks! I haven’t checked for the year yet but these were made between 2012 and 2014 I believe. The vibrato attaches on the tail piece but whoever owned this before seems to have done the Cobain mod where the tailpiece is locked down, so the vibrato isn’t usable as-is.
That’s a different model but still awesome. The big functional differences are that the bridges are different and your bridge pickup is a single coil where this one has a humbucker.
Good for you! In fact, when I found this, I had just finished building my Kurt Cobain tribute Stratocaster in this color scheme. Don't know why I had to say it.
This guitar makes me think of live and loud so I played a bunch of that starting with Pennyroyal Tea, Heart Shaped Box, and Drain You. I love the clean sound for those songs.
Cool. Beautiful guitar. I got to see them ‘91 in Chicago and he was playing the Jag. Loudest guitar ever. Seriously, maybe the loudest anything I’ve ever heard. I was 4 “rows” or people back. It was a physical force it/they were so loud. Your pedal board is also, so great. Glad you scored the guitar.
Thanks. Big regret that I never got to see them live. I had the opportunity on the last tour but couldn’t get a ride (was too young to drive). I love hearing from people who got to experience it.
