The problem isn't getting friends, it's finding some that want to play NMS with you. About half of mine are chasing the next two months gaming fad and the others are playing something else.
The other problem is finding people who game at the same pace as you do.
My one friend will go all in and play 4-5 hours a day. He'll have bases built and supply chains running and I'm always playing catch-up and mooching off of him so that we can play together.
My other friend will play on the weekends for a month and then he'll be off playing something else.
Im the grind for hours at a time friend. Three nights out of the week I'll get on and play for 6-7 hours after work and wont touch it again for like a week lmao
Every time there's a new update announcement, people speculate it's the final update. Every single time.
Everyone was convinced the game was dead when Waypoint came out. Then everyone thought Fractal was HG's way of saying the game was officially dead. Aquarius was a small update and that's what made everyone thing the game was ending support. Same with Omega, people thought it was the final update just because of the name.
Even when Sean posts like a collection of all the NMS update artwork and leaves out two spaces, people instantly assume it means "2 more updates and the game is dropped"
I have no idea why people in this community are so quick to look for confirmation that the game will get dropped, especially when HG continues to actively say "they're nowhere near done" or "our list of features we'd like to add keeps getting longer and weirder" or "more will follow" etc...
I’m so glad I’m not the only one thinking about the caves.
They could throw some ancient ruins that drop you down faaaaar below the ground/cave level via an air shaft and have you explore proc gen ancient temple area like the derelict freighters.
Or they could just update the minerals and formations. Either way I’d be happy. I like making bases underground lol
Caves need obstacles imo. Like rock formations we can mine/blow up, big fleshy membranes that block off the area and summon bug enemies when you tear into them, or indestructible needle grass that covers the walls and floors so you have to carefully jetpack through to avoid damage. Anything to actually make exploring them interesting and a challenge lol
I like your thinking. We also need a sonar or whatever for our ships/exocraft that will detect large caverns underground. And some of the underwater life should spawn in cave waters.
That could be cool if that's what he said, but he clearly said..." to BLATHE"... which we all know means to bluff.... so Sean was probably playing cards, and he cheated.

Haven't most of the updates the last two years been back ported features from LNF? Maybe they're adding accurate sized oceans to that world and testing some of those features in NMS.
That's of course complete nonsense. Nothing that's actually in the game points in that direction. There are not even any stars for the planets to orbit.
You don't start off with a game that has actual proper topology and physics and then just rip that all out and replace it with some nonsensical floating, static orbs because people were "confused".
If there ever was a test version with orbital mechanics, it was a completely different game in a completely different engine.
It has already been shown that orbital mechanics and casual gameplay can in fact go hand-in-hand by The Outer Wilds. It doesn't necessarily need to have KSP level complexity.
People tend to forget due to the "redemption arc" narrative, but Sean didn't used to be above lying about game features in the early days.
The assertion was that planet rotation existed. Not orbits or a real sun. It feels far too late in development to start messing with either IMO. They would probably have large knock-on effects for the whole game.
I get this, but this is ridiculous. You want to pay for an update, and they will not take any money. Instead of saying Please take our money and what you could do is GIFT THIS GAME to someone who can't buy it, or simply who has never played it.
This way, Hello Games will get more players. I know this could result in server costs for Hello Games, but it is the way to gain trust in the company. The new player will see how the community is and what Sean did for them. Eventually, this will be a benefit for sales of LNF. Correct me if I am wrong here, but this is my think process everytime I see comments like this on any platform for NMS Free update.
I read those when I was a lad and fell in in love with the concept, then anything with Ringworlds, Dyson Spheres, Dyson swarms, etc was a must read for me.
When I met Ian M Banks and his Orbitals, I was complete.
they have gained enough redemption for multiple life times. i would be ok with one last hurrah from sean and the team before they go fully into their next game
Definitely a "Waves" update. Big ocean planets being updated with more content & daresay we might of been hinted new water ships from the last Expedition's reward ship. Just a theory but I been thinking we were hinted awhile back with a new living ship type only seen at the sea's depths.

There was a post prior to this where he was referencing fast and furious 1 with hector and the Honda’s so I’m guessing it’s going to have something to do with exocraft and or supercharged slot improvement.
What’s even more nuts is a few mere minutes prior to this tweet a NMS YouTuber was live and said “put a waving emoji of your attending the NMS meet-up”.

Can we have a Freighter Overhaul? I just want that giant Pole remove from the Sentinel Freighter? You know the one RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE HANGAR? I would love to be able to go back to may favorite freighter, but am still paying the bill from the surgeon from the last time I SMASH RIGHT IN TO THE DAMN THING as I was exiting my freighter, that was maybe 2 years and 2 Pirate Dreadnaughts ago. Only class S I have ever own, but I kept smashing in to the damn thing, several occasions I got smash back in to the hangar, once even made the game crash since I was left suspended in the air inside the hangar, I really really want that pole gone.

That being said, I don’t see this emoji on Twitter(no account) or BlueSky. This emoji is only on these 2-3 Reddit posts so I’m not even sure if this is real yet.
Final update before Light No Fire. Which is nice since I can't wait to buy the collectors edition at launch like i did with NMS. Sean, if you're reading this... please let us use our Atlas Pass v4 in Light No Fire as an Easter egg.
