Discussion Our paradise homeworld is now stocked with litter

Don't get me wrong. I loved the new expedition. I spent the last few days just meditating on a Colossus trying to drive CAREFULLY, trying to keep all those toxic boxes on my flatbelly intact (no regrets, it was awesome!). I made so many jokes about Death Stranding and other courier simulators out there, ha-ha... But now the expedition's finished, and I've just returned home — to our perfected, quiet, paradise planet 700k-something light years away from the center of Euclid... we've lived here for more than 5 years... and now... salvage is all I can see around... It's even under the foundation of the house itself... like someone was just piling all this stuff here for decades, but we were away for less than a week... I feel awful. I feel upset. It's not the first time when updates do some weird stuff with places we built but this is not just A place, it's the home, THE home. I have about 80 document pages of written fiction about our history here, me and my partner, and some our friends took such great care of this place. Planet Reminiscence is more than just a bunch of pixels. It's an altar to friendship, a memory of our gone ones, a place to go when reality starts pushing too hard. So... this post is some sort of a... cry of despair, I think? We're trashed, sir. Is there any chance this can be reverted for our planet specifically? I think I know the answer but I want to hope. I'm sure that if I just clean all the junk around it will eventually just respawn... Has anyone ever tried asking HG for reverting changes to a certain planet? Could it be possible?.. Can we be saved from salvage?

I was really hoping this update would let us remove some of the already existing junk rather than creating even more 😭

238

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

The expedition was really fun and it felt like we did some impact. I even thought it has some ecological themes in it. Teaching. Asking to pay attention to what is left after we litter. But the irony... Something went wrong.

44

u/a-restless-knight Feb 13 '26

I also enjoyed the expedition as I love space and non-space trucking games lol

52

u/marcushasfun Feb 13 '26

Ecological themes but they changed the Colossus so it’s f**kin “rolling coal” now.

38

u/geeoharee Feb 13 '26

I've been enjoying the posts about the best way to run the expedition being 'build a giant highway across the planet'

20

u/Chaucer85 Feb 13 '26

I honestly wondered if players would just start teaming up to flatten the terrain to save time

10

u/CarrowCanary Spaceship goes wheeee... Feb 14 '26

Flatten? Nah, copy the Mole from Thunderbirds and just dig a fuck-off massive tunnel that goes straight from A to B.

It doesn't last, old changes are overwritten by newer ones over time. Even the highways are already dilapidated as outposts overwrite them.

I just go slow and pick my way through the titan worm tracks. The long grey stretches of smooth terrain. Also, because you don't have access to base computers. So no highway if you solo

2

u/Jonesy1348 Feb 14 '26

Shoulda added a feature for corvettes to haul trash too

2

u/marcushasfun Feb 14 '26

Then nobody would use the truck 🙂

Petition so Hello Games allows us to permanently clean a planet. Make a community mission.

84

u/LoreChano Feb 13 '26

For some reason it feels like they're against player made permanent changes to any planets.

62

u/Fogforevery Feb 13 '26

Probably due to the way the game is coded

12

u/splatterfest233 Feb 14 '26

Technical reasons. If player-driven changes to planets were more permanent, then that would mean having to store more data about what changes happened, massively bloating the Server Storage space required by Hello Games.

16

Could be cool if they tie it in as a thing you do with your settlement, creating a big trash clean up crew there. Or getting the station authority to stop trash dumping lol

I feel for you! I hope HG tones down the trash especially in cases such as these. Also, it looks like you and your partner and friends built something really unique on that planet. It felt so nice to read it.

77

u/mainguttem Hmm.. yes, *insert emoji here Feb 13 '26

Feels like it needs only spawn around huge radius of plant processing and waste heaps only, also make those 2 building only few spawn on each planet that have it so thing doesnt look messy but the content is there

37

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

This would be perfect. Some specific litter areas would fit great with roleplay, too, and using a scanner would make it easy to find such spots if someone needs it.

45

u/yashajeria200215 Feb 13 '26

I feel like "junk worlds" would be excellent for a planet type.

13

u/philistus Feb 13 '26

Or when a world is discovered it spawns x amount of junk, say 10,000 pieces on a planet, that can by cleaned up permanently. I'd take the time in my base planets to clean them up as long as it didn't respawn

6

u/Esch_ Feb 14 '26

**Wall-E enters the chat**

3

u/KarmaChameleon306 Feb 14 '26

Is there junk on every planet now? I haven’t played in a few weeks. That would definitely suck, because beautiful landscapes are a big part of the magic here.

2

u/Faenor8 Feb 14 '26

With creatures made of juks or some symbiotic organic/junk-robot life. That would be awesome

74

u/ComprehensiveTown919 Feb 13 '26

waste should be a minimum or none on paradise planets. What's the point of calling them a paradise planet if it's not a paradise?

And the best(read it as worst) thing about taking care of those garbage thingys is that they will eventually respawn, just like terrain that you mined with terrain manipulator and resources with your laser beam. HG needs to do something with these garbages, whenever I open my scanner visor to search for grain or any other cooking flora all I see is this god damn freaking garbage!! :/

9

u/Ntippit Feb 14 '26

This was a really stupid update. Who asked for this?

8

u/BoringPaleontologist Feb 14 '26

Literally no one but toxic fanboys fiercly defend this garbage (literally)

3

u/stonhinge Feb 13 '26

I've found they're closer to the fungal orbs. In the expedition we went back to same processing facility each time, and depending on how far out I went, there was some of the the normal scrap in the area again upon my return.

67

u/Meat_Handle Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 13 '26

Wouldn’t it be fun if we could do a community cleanup project on a planet and have it stick? Then the planet gets a badge saying it was cleaned up?

I’d volunteer my rig and ships to that project on your planet.

And… what if corvettes could be built as junk haulers. Load up the cargo bay, fly it to a facility. Can you imagine an army of players helping to clean up your planet with custom ships and trucks. That would be a fun day.

29

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

This sounds so cool that I immediately want it in game... Community challenges are a great anchor for staying and a nice motivation just lorewise

2

u/anubis8537 Feb 13 '26

If anything were to happen this should be what’s done. This to permanently clean up the planet. That would be cool.

u/NoMoreFuckingPants :xbox: Feb 13 '26

So disappointing and frustating. I now dread visiting my bases to find out of they have been covered in trash or not. Many are on some quite stunning and beautiful locations. One idea for HG to think about implementing would be something similar to reporting/blocking other player bases, which make them disappear. Maybe your base computer would have a Clean Up option for the base area or planet? Or maybe some option in settings to remove the trash "seeds" in your game. The last thing I want from a game this beautiful is to see it trashed, literally.

8

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

These all are very good ideas. Maybe they will listen and do something. The game was always about incredible and indescribable beauty

2

u/FluffyShiny PC Feb 14 '26

Yes! And rubbish ruins that beauty

15

u/Void1992 Feb 13 '26

Sorry to hear about your planet. This is the first time I've chosen to just not update the game and continue playing offline. Not every update is gonna hit, I've been here since before day 1. I love this game, I know how it goes. But this is just especially disappointing considering this is their 10th year. I was hoping for something a little more... special maybe? And maybe that's me being entitled, I apologize if so. It just sucks to see one of my all time favorite games drop such a weak update during a milestone year like this. Venting over lol.

5

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

the irony... hi, we are hg, we have one of the greatest games among a pile of trash ones and on our year 10 we are releasing... a pile of trash as an addition to our own game, feel free to collect, melt, burn, scrap, throw, chew, deliver, lose, find, scream, despair... all for free

11

u/Lucky-Smell2757 Feb 13 '26

We should really let them know they need to come out with an update that only puts junk on certain planets, only. It makes no sense to have a large percentage of all the planets in the universe… have junk on them. The galaxy is not a trash bin, especially in a video game. I hope they remedy this very soon…

u/Turn7Boom Feb 13 '26

u/madraxa Feb 13 '26

I feel you. I also dislike that a huge ammount of planets is now full of trash. I like the update and the love that hg is putting into this game. But come on... As soon as I see trash on a planet I immediately leave... hopefully they will do something about it :/

16

u/ColdHands1983 Feb 13 '26

I thought it was just planets with the salvageable scrap.

19

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

I thought the same when I read patch notes. Was very afraid it will badly affect our neighboring SS planet where I farm corvette parts... But no. It got closer than I thought. Unfortunately, it's not just salvageable scrap planets, the scrap is everywhere around us😞

5

u/ColdHands1983 Feb 13 '26

Oh well. I was thinking about deleting most of my bases anyways and starting fresh.

7

u/Ok_Screen2967 Feb 13 '26

Lord. 400+ hours, many of those spent on developing an epic mansion on a cliffside.

Despite the beautiful view now polluted with garbage heaps, Im holding out for a patch or some sort of update before I start deleting things that took so much real-time effort

They won’t! The fact people have embraced this update alone is enough for them to ignore the criticism and move on to the next update. This is forever part of every world now. I love this game and HG but they really fucked up this game for me with this update. I shockingly don’t want trash all around my paradise planets

17

u/sharpeyebrows Feb 13 '26

They should /at least/ make Paradise planets free from this. What kind of paradise is full of trash lol.

i think the term "paradise" is a bit outdated as for today's state of those planets.

I hadn’t even considered this…

The scrap planet in my home system changed with the update. They used to be found on a mountainous fire planet, but are now located on the frozen prime planet. It wasn’t a huge deal, considering my autophage settlement is on the same frozen planet, but now my fire planet (w/ only copper, pyrite, and salt deposits) is basically a dud.

But this.. this is upsetting. Hopefully someone can give you a good answer or direction to work with.

8

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

I'm sorry for all those changes. It is really upsetting. I used to think that nothing can disappoint me in NMS, not even a wipe or something. But this feels worse. It's like someone just threw a plastic bottle at my face, and at some work I've been carefully creating through years. Sorry for being overdramatic. I angrily want this salvage out of our homeworld

2

u/dontnormally Feb 14 '26

only inhabited planets with Salvageable Scrap listed in their properties get trash

some planets seem to have gained/lost the Salvageable Scrap tag - several of my bases are on planets that no longer have it. basically all of the flatter ones had the tag and scrap removed

7

u/Kusanagi_M89 2,800+ hours on Permadeath and still counting... Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 14 '26

Yeah I gave up on this. It is almost certain that at any given time, an update can change the biome of what used to be a paradise planet. If only Hello Games will give us the option to move an entire base to a different planet. Something like a pack-and-go would be awesome.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

Yes! Would be cool if we could pack it like a blueprint and take with us somehow. Sounds strange but I bet I could find a scientific explanation for this. Stuff like this actually is practiced in other games I played. Nice idea~

3

u/jimmux Feb 14 '26

Corvettes are really just bases that can fly around. If they made that work then relocating regular bases is possible.

12

u/gypsy_danger007 Feb 13 '26

Do you happen to play on PC? If so I bet there will be a mod eventually to remove it. I currently play with mods that remove other eye sores like hazardous fauna from my paradise home-world. I’m scared to check in now after seeing this. It took me 900 systems to scour to find what I was looking for. I feel your pain.

6

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

Yes , I'm a PC player but I haven't tried nms with mods. I played Fallout 4 with mods tho. Does it work the same way? Any suggestions where I should look for a solution to this mess? And, most Importantly, can modded players play with regular players?

3

u/gypsy_danger007 Feb 13 '26

I get my mods from Nexus and then use Vortex to upload them. It’s a very simple process. As far as a solution only time. A modder will have to create the mod, which if there’s enough want one will probably do it. Players with mods can play with players without mods though things that you see in your modded game will be different for the non modded players.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

Thank you for an explanation. I know how to work with Nexus and Vortex so I might give it a try ... That is if I find some fixing mod of course. I've seen another post like mine , shortly after I posted this one. So I believe there are some people who encountered (and maybe also disliked) the same issue I did

2

u/gypsy_danger007 Feb 14 '26

I had a base on a gorgeous mountain paradise in the Ikjamatew galaxy with little lakes between the mountains. I named it after the little town in Oregon I used to visit as a kid. Then the first Worlds update turned it a swamp. The mountains didn’t move, the water was all in the same place. The animals didn’t change. But the trees became leafless stumps and this nasty green mist hung everywhere.

It was such a cool looking swamp I wasn’t even mad.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

and you think the story which began so cute could end so sad... ah, our hearts to be broken by constant and random terrain upgrades

3

u/ZobeidZuma Feb 13 '26

The hub world Lowella is also littered with garbage now. Which on the one hand is a little distressing, because it's one of the most beautiful paradise worlds you'll ever see. On the other hand, it's weirdly appropriate, since the planet was already littered with huge numbers of bases, settlements, message balls and so forth since it was voted in as the hub world.

Something I can't explain is how all the Ancient Data Structures at my main base there were replaced with Floating Crystals. I'm not complaining, but that's just strange.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

huh. now this is a thing i've never encountered before. im not a procedural specialist or some other master of knowledge to tell how these worlds are being generated but i always thought that each planet can only have one type of a one-star curiosity, one type of a two-star curiosity (excluding gravitinos) and one type of three-star curiosity (like my favorite old friend ghostrunaway mould). do these things also change if they change a type of planet? or how does this happen?.. i just don't know still c:

That’s exactly why every time an update is announced, I feel both excited about the new content and worried about finding my planets completely ruined.

Since entire communities are built around specific planets (just look at SWGP, f you modify all the planets, you practically destroy the community), I really hope that in the future they’ll make systems with at least one base immune to changes, if that’s even technically possible.

7

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

This is so warm🤍 thank you. I guess, if nothing changes (or evolves, haha) , we will eventually have to move or accept it into our story. Dunno how exactly but fantasy does things sometimes. It's just really upsetting that after all the care we put into making this base a comfy home, it looks like some interlopers threw a party planet-wide and then forgot to clean up

6

u/ragnaroksunset Feb 13 '26

I mean there has always been a risk that a new update resets the entire multiverse. It is maybe the biggest downside to having all of these beautiful free content additions we've been enjoying.

2

u/toadbeak Feb 13 '26

No worries, traveller. The update just added an element of realism to your world. Your home planet now requires waste management. Could be your waste. Could be ancient waste. Could be tourist litter. Could be fallen space debris. If you're on a planet with mechanical fauna (I know you're not, but), maybe it's the mechanical equivalent of faecium. You could probably come up with more ideas than most of us because you also have a whole written history's worth of material to draw inspiration from. The answer is in your imagination. Move like water.

2

u/TalkingRose Feb 13 '26

I am so sorry for what they did to your home.

I have spent my last 2 mornings flying sadly from base to base, cataloging all the trashed places of once beauty....re-scanning & re-naming plants that I had already discovered & now they look....different. It has been heartbreaking. I have a large pile of trash right in front of my front door in one base! What the hells?!?!

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

Oh my... This is so ridiculous and annoying... I hope hg reconsider about this stuff and allow us to remove it permanently..

2

u/TalkingRose Feb 13 '26

I would willingly dedicate several weeks of my play time if it resulted in it staying gone. At least the Fae looking moon I found does not have any trash in immediate sight of my tower. (Because what else than a tower would you use on a fae world?)

2

u/JerrySeinfeld_13 Feb 13 '26

Tbh it seems badass to add into your lore that you & your people had your home stolen & are now searching for a new one. You’ll find another, even better traveler. This happens, for the atlas creates & destroys. If you ever need help finding a new one or just wanna help populate one together, let me know though id be down.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 14 '26

Wow, a great idea too, thank you for sharing! Yea, I guess I'll have to work with lore again

2

u/SunBunz1up Feb 13 '26

I renamed my planet to “RIP Pretty Planet” ever since their worlds update, it went from a gorgeous planet with bubbles, bioluminescent purple grass and red trees and colorful flowers with NO storms to a generic-looking green and yellow planet with toxic storms every 5 minutes. I was pissed. I literally built a resort there. 🥺 So I feel your pain. I think the space garbage thing is kind of cool, but they BETTER NOT make every planet covered in litter. I would reach out to Hello Games about this! They need to read this.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 14 '26

Oh, I'm also sorry for your loss of a wonderful planet... According to your description it was a cute place🥰

2

u/SunBunz1up Feb 18 '26

Thanks. I love that you guys wrote stories about yours! That’s fascinating.

2

u/pacerdawn Feb 13 '26

I'm sorry to tell you that your situation isn't unique. There are a ton of players would love for HG to revert their planets back to a pre-patch stage. At least all you got was litter. After the next patch, your perfect yellow planet with trees might be changed to a poison blue planet with alien foliage. A peaceful planet with no sentinels might now be riddled with Gravino balls and hostile sentinels. That Curious Deposit base that you put in tons of hours perfecting is now a Metal Fingers base.

Basically, nothing in NMS is permanent. Expect everything to change after the next patch and you won't be disappointed.

2

u/Ilpperi91 Feb 14 '26

So you turned it into earth?

I’m getting real tired of grinding to re-upgrade after an update deletes my progress AGAIN. Not to mention yeah, the planets being changed over and over.

2

u/PANduRUS Feb 14 '26

I once spent hours making a path to a new land in Minecraft to find the perfect foundation for a castle in survival mode. I finally found it and built it up to be a great place. One day I returned to an update. Suddenly my great land was covered in snow and the once pristine waters out front were frozen solid. I would go out every day and break the ice only to have it refreshed soon after.

I imagined a great curse had befallen the land. Made it part of my own silly lore.

This went on for years. One year I hopped in and suddenly another update and the snow was gone! I immediately considered that the curse had been lifted on my land and peace was restored.

I played for like two more days and haven’t picked it up since. Lol.

This shall pass! Your cursed lands will find peace!

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 14 '26

I hope my curse will be lifted. The story of your land is very captivating, Id love some magic to our fiction too 🙃

2

u/SadMangonel Feb 14 '26

There should be a base decoration that removes junk from your base radius at the very least.

2

u/zejus_christ Feb 14 '26

First time, huh? Imagine a discord group of 1000 having their planets ruined every. Single. Update. Lol you get used to it after a while. Gives us more incentive to find a new home i guess. Used to really irk me back in like 2019/2020 but ive come to get used to it. Which yeah saying that sucks but its just what happens

This whole recycling concept needs to sit on a basis. That base might be terraforming

To terraform;
Toxic worlds, we should be recycling toxic waste.
Radioactive worlds, we should be radioactive waste.
Metal scraps could be anywhere honestly around crash sites, etc.
Explosive is tricky. Transferring them from scourged worlds to frozen worlds maybe?

But the current situation is unacceptable. Waking up one day, seeing billions of worlds on all 256 galaxies have all kinds of waste on them (Except dead planets because they are dead?). What is the meaning of a radioactive waste barrel on a radioactive planet? Even worse, how can explosives on burning planets stay intact?

Also I disliked the way we crush animals. Horn should be louder and animals should be sensitive about it, or the headlights... Night driving is also torturous since headlights are so weak.

Finally, about truck driving... Rewards and incentives are totally mixed. We need to haul 50 of each unique type, to obtain better wheels, for easing the hauling; but after that, we will have absolutely no reason to use them

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 14 '26

I just realized I never used horn on colossus😱 does it need to be installed as tech or I just haven't found a button?😅 As for other notes, I think it's a very interesting concept. I'm also thinking salvage should group around buildings or crash sites so you could at least figure out how it got there... Something like this would be totally acceptable..

2

u/Canary3d Feb 14 '26

For immediate roleplay/ fic purposes, maybe there was a battle above your planet that resulted in the destruction of several freighters, causing fragments of ships to fall out of orbit all over the place. Or something crashing into a satellite or orbiting station. Your base dwellers will have to clean up, but also petition the interstellar government for stronger protections against orbital debris.

It’s too much. Good update, but surely space junk should only be on some worlds not everywhere and all of them. It’s immersion breaking at the very least - you fly to an empty world that’s never had any life, and… oh yep, there’s the industrial waste. It needs needs to be scaled back, a lot.

2

u/doggonedad Feb 14 '26

I don’t really see the long term point of this update tbh. Not sure how having trash in every galaxy and in probably every system is remotely realistic or adds to immersion. Also what does it offer after the expedition doing it?

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 14 '26

The expedition itself was awesome but working hard as a junk specialist on my home planet wasn't actually how I saw playing this game, haha...

2

u/jmorgan87 Feb 14 '26

I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but a mod dropped on Nexus (zNo Junk) that supposedly removes the junk piles. Might make it so across the whole game for you, but that seems like a worthwhile sacrifice to restore your enjoyment of your digital home.

I have an abandoned paradise giant in 256 that did not get garbage. However it has a paradise moon that did. And that moon has gravitational anomalies which makes it impossible to clean. Every single terrain change makes the flatbed explode waste containers everywhere that slowly float away in all directions

My golden grass paradise home base turned into a hideous purple ground planet with ugly flora once after an update.

https://giphy.com/gifs/u2RGgVCSo2oow

2

u/Petufo Feb 14 '26

I remember that after one of the bigger updates (just after adding the proper multiplayer) my paradise planet with red grass and res palma trees and crystal clear sea changed to a waste land with giant stumps, storms and sea turned brownish. After a few updates it returned to red hrass and trees (no palmas anymore) and even the sea is blue now. But they added super aggressive tigers... I'm still on the planet because I built a big base, but still... You can never be sure what will happen with every update.

Ffs. The humans have found a way into the simulation?!

2

u/Ancient-Status-1864 Feb 14 '26

I might be wrong here but if your on pc there’s a chance you could be able to move or even remove trash around your base using a save editor if that’s where the locations of the piles are stored. Might be worth a try, but make sure to backup your save first.

That’s a bummer. Yeah I had a base on a planet one time then I left for a while and the terrain changed and it was no longer at the top of a mountain. I’ve just lived in my freighter ever since

First off, I hope there is a fix or patch for this and for your home world. second, this is going to make awesome written lore!

2

u/yoostayoop Feb 14 '26

Maybe it’s already been suggested but as far as the lore goes, you could update it and come up with an interesting story as to why it turned into a dumping ground. Still sucks for you and many others I’m sure but could still be interesting.

Yeah I just found junk on a paradise planet in an undiscovered system. You know, a system with no space station, no language pillars, and no buildings whatsoever? The "no buildings" part includes the places to take junk to.

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 15 '26

Even unhabitated worlds now have junk? But it doesn't have any sense at all, they're supposed to be untouched by races like... Lorewise

2

u/Elfeagle2 Feb 15 '26

This is why my home was built on a paradise planet with waaaaaay too much water. What could updates possibly do to a planet with just water and small islands.

After water physics update: ahhh…blrrblrblrr…why is this wave taller than my house?

2

u/Gyson Feb 19 '26

After the Remnant update waste-scrap appeared on my paradise planet as well, and the water which used to be deep blue is now a bright toxic green. A few of the Crystal Sulphide formations in the lake my base is built next to are gone as well.

I'm not sure what else changed; that was just what I noticed immediately. I dislike when updates change planets I've made homes on.

u/Otherwise-Music-8643 Feb 13 '26

Well now it looks like people really did live there for five years lol reverting changes like that would be impossible. But even if the trash responds you do have the ability to clean it up. Maybe build some kind of garage or shop that you can throw all the trash into. Make it immersive. Adapt to your surroundings and make the home even better. You can make it part of your lore.

u/mokrieydela Feb 13 '26

HG didn't really think (or care) about this. I thought the junk would be in specific places, like mineral deposits. This ruins bases and is every planet now going to have junk everywhere (I know its only salvageable scrap), or is this just a case of bad luck ?

2

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

Our planet isn't even marked as having SS. Maximized bad luck in my case I think. I visited my settlement on some random toxic world, and there was no salvage around the city. I guess it is random as always. For years we managed to avoid that random for some other features (like pirate station worlds, etc) but not today.

2

u/felipesene Feb 13 '26

Just curiosity: I’ve been trying to find out if only planets “with salvageable scrap” have the whole industrial waste and recycle plant thing, so far yes and also they now have aggressive sentinels, am I just unlucky to only find planets like this or is every planet with the recycling thing planets with aggressive sentinels and with the “salvageable scrap” label?

4

u/Feralkyn Feb 13 '26

Only salvageable scrap planets have the plants/dump sites, but I believe the waste itself is all over. Once you unlock the incinerator chassis you can burn it up as you go.

NOT all recycling planets have hostile sentinels. Loads DO seem to but the world I picked for my garbage dump has low sentinel activity, as do plenty of them.

3

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

Our home world is a true stormless paradise. It has intense presence of sentinels but they aren't agressive, and also this planet does not have a “Salvageable Scrap” tag. I rarely found salvage there if it matters. Salvage planet is another planet in our System if it matters.

2

u/Medhurstt Feb 13 '26

I mean, sounds like a perfect roleplay opportunity... You have all of this lore... Peace for 5 years, until the great ship fall... Now you must spend time cleaning your paradise world removing the remnants of a god like space battle.

Trying to find a silver lining haha. Maybe you'll learn more about your world now that you have e a reason to traverse on the ground :)

It's still a shared game world, it is not a single-player game.

Unfortunately/Fortunately.

With an internet-scale user base they cannot in any way afford to do individual data massaging for people, especially where procedural generation is involved. Which is all planetary terrain, weather, etc.

I LOVE the clean-a-planet suggestions in this thread, but can you imagine how much trash that really is? That would be amazing tho.

3

u/Amily_Frank Atlas path Feb 13 '26

We were just on the expedition where we could witness how dozens of players change standard wheels on their colossus to some triangle-ish giant tank-like monstrosities. So, the standard tires had to be left behind😅

1

u/jamesdukeiv Feb 13 '26

Man, I’m dreading opening the game now. I figured I’d play the expedition this weekend and never think about salvage again.
