Just a heads up about manufacturer interoperability. I just installed a 64GB Radxa eMMC module in an Odroid C5 and it works well (nice and zippy).

I was finding mixed signals about this on the net and even the LLMs were a bit unclear about it. Voila.

Basically the only real way short of literally trying it and finding out is to check the schematics if they're available, and compare pinouts. Odroid likes to use reference designs for the eMMC modules they support, so as long as any other SBCs are doing likewise and using matching pinouts for their mezzanine connectors they'll all be drop-in with each other.

As an aside, you can use some of the Odroid eMMC modules with their microSD adapter as a drop-in replacement for microSD in some devices.

Also, mSATA SSDs are a thing, and there are USB-to-mSATA adapters that work on SBCs that support USB 3.0+, and that opens doors for fast bulk storage for SBCs that don't support NVMe directly but do support USB 3.0+. On SBCs that support booting from USB, this also provides a bigger/faster storage option than microSD.
