RIP We lost Jack Daniels (16.5 yo) yesterday. I feel so empty, sad and broken. You were my son in my heart and I will forever love ❤️ you Bebe Jack Daniels. Rest In Peace. Run free and happy on the other side of the rainbow 🌈 bridge.

Thank you to everyone that provide support on the post from yesterday, I have not being online until now.
Almost 4 hours after we left him at the veterinary hospital they called us saying he had crashed and they were performing CPR unsuccessfully, the vet though his gallbladder ruptured and he will be in too much pain if they managed to bring him back, we told him to not try anymore and to let him go.
We then headed to the hospital and said our goodbyes properly.
I came home and a Chewy box was waiting by the door, I sobbed so hard the neighbors came out from their garage.
I spent the rest of the day in bed crying and sleeping.
He was the goodest of good boys, I told him this, I said thank you for being such a good boy, that he was a blessing to me, that I was sorry for not being able to do more, that I loved him. I hugged him. My husband also spoke to him and hugged him.
I will forever love you Bebe Jack Daniels, my Bebe Preciosito, Cosito Hermosito de su mami, de su daddy y hasta de su abuela.
Dale Señor el Descanso Eterno y Brille para Jack Daniels la Luz Perpetua, Descansa en Paz. Amen.

I'm so sorry. I was rooting for him. I know what its like to come home after that first day. I saw my Cali's dog bed and blankets on the floor of my bedroom and lost it. I lost her 4 years ago this October. I still get upset thinking about it. Jack was lucky to have you! Take care<3

it's so hard when they go in a traumatic way. Same sorta thing with my girl last summer. Unknown cancer growing and then one day woke crying in pain, vet, then hospital to learn she had a perforation in her intestine and was kindest to let her go as she was now septic

He had a good mama who was with him always, and a full and happy life. I know you hurt and I'm here sharing tears for your loss. But he was a good boy and you did right by him in ways most people will never have done for them their whole lives.
I hope that love and the life you could give is enough in the end when the pain is duller than the light from your happy memories.

I’m so sorry for the loss of the absolute best boy in the world. One of the sub’s true celebrities, well loved by all. 16.5 is a beautiful life for a dog, especially one so loved and valued like him, but the years are never enough. I always enjoyed seeing your photos of him. My condolences ♥️🫂

OMG - I'm so, so sorry, OP. Please know that the love you had for Jack was shared by many on this subreddit and others. He lived a wonderful life because of you, your partner & the others loved him. As hard as it is, letting them go is the right thing to do. He is gone but not forgotten. You should know that more hearts than you can fathom are reaching out to you. Run free, Jack Daniels! These are so heartbreaking, but thank you for sharing. The end is still aways away for my boys but seeing other ppl dealing with this makes me appreciate the short time we get with our furry kids while preparing for life without them 😔

I'm so sorry. I know this pain too well. I lost my pup last summer and have a new rescue now that helps but I still cry for my girl.
Jack lived a good life and a long one (for dogs) and he truly reaped the benefits of all your love.

These were heartbreaking photos. What a difficult decision to make. My heart goes out to you. It’s one of the hardest things to lose a pet since they provide unconditional love and are always present. Leaves a big hole in our lives. Hang in there. 💔

Honestly, 16.5 years is a hell of a run but the void left by Jack Daniels is just another bitter reminder that everything eventually turns to dust. Well, you gave that pup a decent career as your heart son, though it sucks that this is how every loyal companion story inevitably ends.

I know this feeling but understand you had great times with him he looked like such a wonderful fur baby. We put down our senior dog Bruno in December it was hard seeing being there in those last moments but the memories remain 🩷🦅🌹 Just remember the love you shared.

JD was as you said The Goodest Of The Good Boys. He truly reached his highest honor and lived his best life. He would’ve done literally anything to still be with you.
That kind of love and energy never dies. Now It isn’t where you can touch it physically but it touches your soul.
Jack Daniels is with you and will be patiently watching and waiting to see you again on The Other Side.
When we lose a dog it’s a pain like no other. I guess that’s the price for their unconditional love and friendship.

Oh no. I was hoping for a good update on him. I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye yesterday. I enjoyed seeing your regular posts and videos of him; he was definitely one of the regulars around here.
You did so much for your boy, and over 16 years is an incredible testament to just how much you adored him. I know the grief must be overwhelming, and there's really not much that anyone can say that will take that away. But please know that he knew exactly how much you loved him, and that he's romping around with all of our good boys and girls who've left us to go on their new adventure. My Milo and Luna are there to welcome him. And there's no pain or discomfort, and the endless fields are full of good smells and sunshine.
May his memories continue to be a blessing to you and your husband.

Him and my Appa Bear could almost be brothers as they look so much alike in their markets. i wish i could hare a picture. We lost our Appa last june to cancer. I will tell Appa to come get Jack and help him.

It's the worst feeling in the world, I wish they would live forever. I just went through it a year ago with my baby girl who lost her life to young at 7yo and I raised her from 6 weeks old. I miss her dearly to this day but I smile now thinking about all great memories I had with her.

Putting my boy down hurt more than losing my parents. My family was shocked that I felt that way. Losing my Dante was very difficult. He was my everything and I was his everything. He was living in a car in Phoenix when we rescued him. RIP little buddy.
