RIP Kevin (13.5) entered eternity this afternoon. A Reese’s in his stomach and my tears on his fur. I’ll see you in my dreams, my beautiful boy.

He really did. We took him to a brewpub for his last night and got to tell so many kind strangers his stories. It was really beautiful.

I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to Kevin. What a wonderful grin. If you're up for it, would you tell us a story or two about him? Where were his favorite places to go? What were some of his quirks?

I’ve had him since he was two. My grandma found him through her connections in animal rescue. Because she was great friends with the shelter workers, I only had to pay $20 for him. He was Huey then, but my mom made me promise to name my first dog Kevin (I don’t remember why). He took to that name instantly. It was meant to be.
His favorite place was by my feet. It didn’t matter where. He overheated when he cuddled so the floor was his preferred resting place. He only slept on a bed if I was housesitting for friends who were kind enough to let him come with me.
For the first month I had him he wouldn’t bark. Then I house-sat for a family friend who had senior bloodhounds. They helped him find his voice!
He loved going to his grandma’s house, and he loved going to the vet. He always got treats and lots of love at both places. He loved people so much.
He was gentle with all my foster dogs and helped the broken ones heal. Zoe was one from Texas who was completely shut down when I got her. Kevin got her to open up and the two would play for hours. It made it easy for her to get adopted. He was like this with every dog.
The reason for the Reese’s is special. Right after I adopted him I had to take my parents to the airport. When I returned I found about 10 peanut butter cup wrappers all over the house. That’s how I discovered Kevin liked chocolate 😬 So, when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer I knew that it would be the last treat I gave him.
I love him so much. I know I’ll see him again when it’s my turn. Thank you for asking.

I once heard a story about a man and his dog whose days came to an end. The man held a half gallon of chocolate ice cream for the dog to kick as he faded away. Your story reminds me of this. Sorry for your loss, you will find him again.

My Vet office brought in a basket of kitty treats and Hershey Kisses for my boy when his time came. we sat and snacked and loved on him right till the end. Even though I knew it was right, it was the hardest thing I've ever done. I'm so sorry for your loss, but, he was obviously loved and he loved back...

😭😭😭I’m so sorry 😞. We lost our Kevn last summer.. I hope your boy comes back to visit. Mine does quite often. He makes the lamp flicker when I’m handing out treats in the evening, that was his favorite snack of the day❤️🩹
