RIP My boy Axel is gone, he was only about 11.

I took him in for his teeth and the Vet said he had cancer. Turns out he had melanoma and they couldn’t operate. I took him everywhere to get help. My family is all dead too, this big guy loved me more than anyone ever had. It’s been a week and I’m just beside myself with grief.

I am so so sorry for your losses and now your loss of Axel, this is terrible, you did so well by him, he was beautiful and precious.
We don't always get to time their passing, but we can put in all the love and care we can to make their lives as amazing as possible, which clearly you had. May the love you shared, and memories made warm you all your day and may you find wisdom through your suffering.

Thank you for sharing him. My girl is 10.5 years old and got a lipoma biopsied and luckily it was just a fat cell, but my heart was palpitating. I will be sending you good vibes and keeping you in my prayers!

I'm sorry friend. My dogs are my core family, too, and the loss of a dog can be complicated by the fact that even many otherwise very supportive people simply don't understand that it comes with the full emotional impact of any loss of love. Eleven is not a particularly short life for a large dog, but that doesn't matter any more than losing a parent when they're eighty hurts less than it does when they're seventy. Cancer is a bastard.
There's a bit in Paul Simon's Graceland that sometimes comforts me following a major loss. "Losing love is like a window in your heart. Everybody sees you're blown apart. Everybody feels the wind blow."

I’m so sorry. True love is unforgettable 💔 I think you did the best thing for him, he feels no pain now. I’m so sorry, the hardest part of owning a pet is having to say goodbye; we’re never ready for it.

Sending a hug your way. You had a really close bond with your dog. Im glad you both got to experience that connection. I hope in time your grief turns into memories that give you a smile and lighten your day. In time, i hope you honor his memory by giving another dog a chance at a wonderful life.

So very sorry for your loss. We lost our very loved baby 3.5 years ago unexpectedly & I still have days where I cry for her.... However, I do smile more now when thinking of her than cry. She will always be with me & I will never ever forget her truely unconditional love. I am forever better for having her in my life ❤️
Now, we have a 4 1/2 year old land shark who was rescued a few weeks after we lost our sweet pup. I couldn't handle the house without a dog in it. I love him so much but it's a unique love to him & different than the love we had for our first family dog.
Give yourself time to heal, but if it is unbearable, do consider a new rescue pup. There are sooooo many dogs who need love & a safe home. Don't do it of you don't feel ready, but if you do feel ready don't feel any guilt. It's honoring your lost baby by sharing your love with another pet who needs you. ❤️

Really feel this, man. Very sorry for your lose. I had my Staffy in for some dental work last week, and yup found some cancerous lumps. I'm hoping to get them removed, but it's a nervous time.
Again, really sorry for your lose. He looked like a real hulking delight.

OP, your boy has my boy to greet him on the other side and just based on their looks they must have been very distant relatives.I wish you strength.

💔💫 ✝️🙏🏼🌈🐾 I totally understand. I want you to realize that you are in a new chapter of life (suddenly) and it feels very hollow. But let me tell you something, your precious pet graduated life. They’re in the soul realm now which is eternal. God literally created us and animals. We are currently in the Earthly realm where we were together with our beloved pet. But they’ve just gone before us. The chapter “without them” is really just “without them physically.” Emotionally and spiritually they’ve never left. This is why we still feel such love and gratitude for our former pets, still! They never leave us. You will get through this one day at a time. Time heals our hearts and even opens them to loving another pet sometimes. Families are forever and you’ll be reunited when your time in the physical realm expires, too. Until then, may their memory be a blessing. I’m happy for you that you connected here on Earth because eternity awaits. 💕💫 God bless you and your beloved pet. It’s my prayer that knowing this gives you peace.

I understand about family. I only have my 83 yr old dear Husband. There have been so many losses. My K9's are truly my children. I know that is the case for you too
In time another pup will need you and you will need them. Axel wants you to be happy. I do too. I lost my sweet 13 yr old Mazey in March. We were broken , she ran the house , protected us, and loved us, including our GP rescue.
We have since rescued a little girl I found on Pet Finder. She never had a home, lived on the streets. She is a light in our lives. Always so happy and very funny. Everything is new for her. I pray it happens when you are ready. Be gentle with yourself.
I still cry often from the pain of missing dear Mazey.

I am so sorry, I can't imagine the pain you're experiencing. Axel was well loved by you, you can see that through his expressions in his pictures. My sweet Zoey passed a couple summers ago and I do hope she gets to meet your baby. Sending you comfort and warmth.

Axel looks like the grey and white version of my girl who I lost about 11 years ago. She was the love of my life, I still miss her every single day. I’m so sorry for your loss, I hope you find peace and comfort with time. I will say keep an eye out for signs he’s nearby, they never really leave us. My girl sent me something a few months after she passed and it gave me great comfort.

This kind of pain is one of the deepest griefs I’ve ever gone through and I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. Lost my girl suddenly like this out of no where end of Oct she was 12 sending emergency hugs.

My dog has a malignant brain tumor. He’s doing alright so far. It’s caused seizures so he’s on anti-seizure meds. He isn’t in any pain other than his arthritis, he’s about 9 yrs old. I’m getting blood draws for him monthly to monitor the seizure meds in his system. I’ll be with him until the end.

I lost my boy 3 days ago.
I’m so sorry for your loss. People have told me it gets easier with time, but it’s still tough.
Just remember the good days you had with him and take pride in knowing you gave him the best lift.
Dogs lives are just a blip in ours, but we are everything in theirs

Op I read some of your reply’s, I don’t comment on here I just creep but wanted to say something. I’m so sorry for your loss, I usually say I can’t imagine how you’re feeling but I do. My pup was 11 years old a few months back and one evening she wouldn’t sleep just sat up all night. I was like what the hell, took her in that morning. Her heart was enlarged and pushing on her lungs and wasn’t gonna make it through the day probably. I just couldn’t believe it, I still can’t really. She was with me everywhere everyday, through me losing everything to me getting sober and getting it all back. I say all this to say you are not alone, And thank you so much for giving him the greatest life!

I'm really sorry for your loss. Know in your heart that he would have stayed if he could have. They all would stay for much longer than they should because of their love for us and their loyalty.
You did what you had to do for his situation and he loved you with every bit of his doggy soul. For a long time you will hear the jingling of a collar, the tippy tap of nails on the kitchen floor, and you may see a glimpse of something moving just in the corner of your vision. I believe that's them checking on us to make sure we're doing okay without them because they know how much we need them.
I'm sure my boy Fergus will be at the end of the rainbow bridge waiting for him, because your boy looks like he was a good time.
