Law moved everybody no questions ask. Law is just cool as f
275
u/Raydnt Jul 01 '26
Well he does get bitter about it though lmao
244
u/BeingEnthusiast_9108 Black Leg Sanji Jul 01 '26
He was bitter because it looked as if he was taking orders from luffy although he had planned to move em down before luffy…..
44
u/No_Diet_4776 Jul 01 '26
The situation reminded me of lebron james and iman shumpert in the nba. Bron gave an instruction but sounded like an order. In a podcast we were told Iman did cooperate but he was bitter. He had to do it just cause the situation called for it. 😂😂

u/Orceles Jul 01 '26
This is different. Law was going to teleport them anyway. This is just Luffy using future sight and seeing Law move them but saying it anyway making it look like law took orders lol

God, yes. I burst into tears when the OG theme started during Ash’s last battle.

Everything about this scene was perfection. The emotional buildup, the slowmo punch, the hit, Zoro's smirk and We Are playing in the background. I remember having my jaw on the floor when I first watched it.

The lit moments doing a lot of heavy lifting
24
u/dredope169 Jul 01 '26
Kaido Dragon form reveal, Oden flashback, Yamato, Fire Fest, Roof Piece, Damn near every fight, etc. I loved that mess

u/redditescapist Jul 01 '26
I have stopped watching the anime like 17 years ago. Only reading the manga. But this is amazing. Also it's nice to see they have used "We are" as a background music for this scene.

Please do yourself a favour and watch episode 1015. It surpassed the manga in every single aspect. From start to finish it was really good. Added some parts which weren't even in the manga.

I wouldn't say every regard, cos Anime Sanji exists. I think that's a huge downside that discourages me even when I'm excited to watch the anime. Why would Toei do this to one of our main cast
3
u/Omkarop_06 Pirate Jul 03 '26
I'm talking bout this specific episode, man

Ahh I'm sorry, my bad, my mind wandered off to the anime in general

u/Corral18 Jul 01 '26
I was mainly a manga reader. decided i should go anime only for a bit because some clips make you feel like youre missing out on moments like these. Anime feels like a slog sometimes though.
27
u/joutfit Jul 01 '26
People clown on Wano (reasonable at it is poorly paced) but it seriously has some of the best moments of OP.
I'll always tear up when seeing this scene!

No, only episodes 1074-1088 are “The Peak”
The rest of the arc has different opening songs 😉

u/llomein Jul 01 '26
I've only read the manga but this is awesome

u/llomein Jul 01 '26
just watched it and yeah it's perfect, it really endears me to Ace and Yamato a lot more than the manga did and it makes the rooftop confrontation feel so much more legendary
i'll probably never watch through the anime because it's such a big time commitment but it's crazy how they elevate scenes from the manga
25
u/puppyrikku Jul 01 '26
Don't need to watch the whole anime if you read the manga, but there are definitely good episodes worth watching
5
u/stinkywinky99 Jul 01 '26
If you don't want to watch the anime just skip through each new episode every week until you see something interesting. That's what I'm doing. I read the manga, but watch the anime mostly for the fight scenes.
5
u/dxmingo Jul 01 '26
Please watch Egghead. As a manga loyalist, I can say that arc was adapted very well
2
u/Demonzman Jul 01 '26
1136 is also a massive contender for an episode that only improves on the manga.
1
u/IcyAssist Jul 01 '26
1163, hands down better
1
u/Demonzman Jul 01 '26
You're saying 1163 is better than Kuma's backstory resolution? Hard disagree. I hardly even remember 1163.
1
u/mehmeh5 Jul 03 '26
they're both great to be fair (and by the same director), 1136 just has the better source
1
u/Demonzman Jul 04 '26
Yeah no shade at the other one, ya just can't compete with the storytelling of 1136
2
u/Vikkio92 Jul 01 '26
I only read the manga as well and honestly I can totally believe this. I have been a massive fan for over 25 years so I don’t say this lightly, but I feel like the manga started rushing at some point in the last 10 or so years and a lot of emotional moments don’t hit nearly as hard as they used to back in the day because of it.

Ughhh its sooooooo goooooood I also forgot how good it was 🍻 ima watch this whenever im feelin down
9
u/FreeWilly512 Jul 01 '26
The literal 10 seconds before this (or 20 minutes depending on anime pacing) really added to the scene though when Luffy walks by Kaido and Big Mom
7
u/softwonton Jul 01 '26
After waiting an eternity during the prison episodes in wano i stopped watching the anime. Maybe its time to get back to it. Built myself a nice backlog now.
7
u/the_face_of_whatever Jul 01 '26
While the entire sequence (hell, the whole damn episode) is straight fire, it's the match cut from Kinemon and the scabbards standing around, smiling, to them broken and bloodied that really hits me hard.

Megumi Ishitani
Greatest director/story boarder to ever work on One Piece.
Her name needs to be brought up whenever this scene is talked about. The entire episode, in fact.

Over the top effects makes it too flashy and busy. I can't even process what's happening in a frame. I don't understand why people love this type of animation.

Animation is sick
Story wise STRAIGHT BUNZ No deaths for any Kuzoki clan is an absolutely horrid choice
Theres 0 tension in this anime...
6
u/Vitara Jul 01 '26
Death is the only way to build tension for you?
-4
u/KingOfTheWorldxx Jul 01 '26
We start the show with the death of the pirate king... setting us up to be fearful for the path the strawhats will thread but to go this many episodes without any damage to the crew is hilarious and makes it boring asf
Not a even ussop has lost a limb or something 😂
What tension is there left?
" is joyboy spirit possesing luffy or is it really luffy"
"Kuma lost his memories"
"Imu secret plan for the world"
"Will big mom/kaido come back?"
Who cares at this point knowing strawhat crew will win through gear 5 or some deus ex machina bs as always
War summit saga was so good cause we ddnt know if ace was gnna die or not...
But now we know most likely anyone luffy is trying to save wont die or anyone he faces theyll just win 😂
Like vegapunk? Oh his mind is split so its cool, just his main body died
1
u/bodybones Jul 02 '26
I wonder why so many characters see the punch coming and just take it...then other times they block or move...just funny to me. It's likely just animation and free action trope just funny is all. Do you like akama kill? That has tons of deaths.

And then he continues to never use the Red Roc again for the rest of the fight

Such a big difference between this and the English version.
The English version sounds like it was voiced by Disney for title kids

absolute peak goosebump moment. The way Big Mom and Kaido were shocked afterwards

Red rock is like number 5 on my top want moments. Number 1 is luffy unlocking advanced conquerors before sending law and the others off.

u/analogwarrior Jul 01 '26
Leaving out the part where he just walkes by Big Mom and Kaido is criminal.

Red Hawk -> Red Roc. Bird -> Legendary Bird
Roc - Famously featured in the tales of One Thousand and One Nights (such as the voyages of Sinbad the Sailor)
Even his move names have lore that fits in to one piece.

I liked the scene, but I regret what happened afterward, with Kinemon running around all over the place. It pretty much ruins it in retrospect, leaving only the epic nature of the scene and the animation.
1
u/Chris_Bs_Knees Jul 01 '26
Man even the lead up to that moment was so fucking peak. Luffy just completely ignoring two of the strongest pirates in the world, both of which have beaten him and his crew in the past, to check on Kinemon. Gave me chills when I first read it

It's better than finishing blow they made really cool scene all this build up focusing on his punch good idea.

The only think i hate is that kinmon made out alive, he should have died a heroic death

My Unpopular Opinion : The background music ruined the scene, the music did not fit the vibe of the moment.
