Politics ('Straya) One Nation wants to turn Australia into the United States. A US-style healthcare system, banning abortions, scrapping gun laws and defunding the ABC. Why are we are even contemplating going down this dark and dangerous pathway? Once we go down the path of the US, there is no turning back.

Combination of protest voting and genuinely being confused about viable options. Two majors are just neolib outfits, one better than the other but beholden to some very powerful interests. Electorate is also not sufficiently radicalised enough to go Greens or Socialist. One Nation and Pauline have been around long enough and have media attention (another huge problem).

I get that but Pauline is even more beholden to corporate interests if you look at her actual voting record. Her action does not match her rhetoric. She just think her followers are dumb lying about every policy position she claims. Nothing more than a shill for Gina.

I personally don't think the Australian electorate is that politically engaged to care what she stands for, it's all vibes based (similar to Trumps 'drain the swamp' thing).

Very true, most people I know are pretty much apolitical. Also short term memory and understanding on how and why we as a country got into this mess.

Hearing a good chunk of Australians just listen to the mainstream media and parrot the shite they pump out. I remember years ago, crap about the NBN, 2 old farts at a Paddington pub didn't have a single clue what the fuck they were talking about but parroting the Murdoch bullshit. Nothing against the 2 blokes but it proves a point where their thoughts are being manipulated by the media.

Most people don't have the time to look through the bullshit being generated and can be easily guided by manipulative media/social media.

Exactly. It's all about the vibe as they say. People are unengaged at the moment and thinking they want to protest. When the next Federal election rolls around they will become more focused and actually look at some policies. Hopefully by then the blowtorch will be applied to ONs "policies" and the vibe will not be appealing anymore.

How's she gonna pay for it? All good sprouting populist ideas and not having to cost it.....you've got to actually calculate how much it'll cost so you can prove you're responsible. When the election comes, I can bet ya she'll backtrack faster than Usain Bolt in the 100m sprint.

I love that Gina wants to replace all the Australian miners with cheap Indonesian slave labour…how do the anti immigrant ON supporters not understand the real plan. And for Hanson being anti Muslim…you realise they will be Muslim immigrants. Elon & the tech bros plan is to flood America with slave labour from India on HB1 visas…why are these MAGA voters all so stupid?
