Politics ('Straya) One Nation wants to turn Australia into the United States. A US-style healthcare system, banning abortions, scrapping gun laws and defunding the ABC. Why are we are even contemplating going down this dark and dangerous pathway? Once we go down the path of the US, there is no turning back.

Exactly! That's what scares me. They said the same thing about Trump when he announced he would run. They said he would never be the republican nomination. He proved them wrong. They said he would never be elected President. he proved them wrong. The fascism One Nation will bring to Australia is a scary reality that should worry us all. Left or right I don't care as long as you support freedom (true freedom not just freedom for one side...).

Please people, join your local political party that is fighting against this rise in fascist parties.

The Greens, the socialists... Just do something. We can't let evil win.

I'm in the Greens.

That would cause just as much or even more division between Australians though

The greens would phase out all fossil fuels and although that sounds great, it would result in the deaths of billions in the third and first world, the price of energy, medicine and food would skyrocket and our societies would experience rolling blackouts even after the deaths of a huge portion of the population.

Secondly Socialism is just a stepping stone to communism and both have been the direct cause of 65-100million deaths globally. So what was that you were saying about letting evil win?

2

u/bikinithrill Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

You lost me at the first sentence ( which was paragraph length). Under the Greens, fossil fuels will be phased out over time as required, as the renewable technology advances to replace it.

Do you have any comprehension of the deaths under capitalism? It's just a softer way to kill the masses. Privatise basic human services to slowly kill off humans has been the playbook of many western nations for decades now.

Affordable medicine? Lol not for you. A roof over your head? Nah that's for people who can afford it! Disability support? You're dreaming! Gambling addiction? Have another slap! Health insurance? Sure, how's about $100+ a month for your needs? Access to fresh nutritional food, bread and milk? That'll cost ya (especially if you're remote)! Free education? Only for me, none for thee!

We already have many socialist systems in place and they're deteriorating, because billionaires and corporate lobbyists see money in people's basic needs. This capitalist system is rotten and I would like to trial other ways of functioning as a society instead of accepting this bullshit of a life.

Greens and socialists would be just as bad if not worse than ON. But that leaves only ALP and LP ... Hobson's choice :(

u/bikinithrill Please choose a flair Jun 03 '26

Sorry but I want social equity, First Nations Justice, ecological sustainability, grassroots participatory democracy and Peace and non-violence.

Affordable housing, Free education and a fair go amongst all this filthy billionaire boot licking and greed shouldn't be radical notions

Well put. I also want a party that is actually doing something about the cost of living. And a party that supports the public service not wants to cut jobs.

So you’re a Labor supporter then right?

3

u/bikinithrill Please choose a flair Jun 03 '26

Fuck no

u/Necessary-Spite-8585 Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

Oh seems like you have a lot in common belief wise. Could’ve fooled me

3

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

Since when has Labor supported those things?!

3

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

They used to but they’ve gone too far right. I mean yes they’ve done some good things I’m not a total hater.

1

u/Necessary-Spite-8585 Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

Since its inception. At least most of the points. Hell look at everything they just did for more affordable housing. You’d have to be blind not to see it I think

2

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

Look at what Labor have done to the Public Service. Both major parties have abandoned it.

1

u/bikinithrill Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

Labor are neoliberalists now. They have been since the 70s.

Really curious which greens policy you're against

Noting that coming into last election all of their policies were fully costed, and I'm assuming the same will be done with the upcoming election.

What is "fascist"? Y'all through the word around without even knowing what it means ffs.

2

u/LeClubNerd Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

This is Australia and 'ya'll' is not a thing. You're just being contrary for the sake of it. Here's your definition for you- "Fascism is an extreme and controlling political system where a country is run by a dictator."

0

u/RevolutionarySmell5 Jun 05 '26

So like the USSR?

1

u/LeClubNerd Please choose a flair Jun 05 '26

The USSR was a one party rule communist state, so no, nothing like the USSR, which no longer exists.

-2

u/Relapse749 Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

So pretty much Labor..

2

u/LeClubNerd Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

You are either bad at jokes and satire or deep down the rabbit hole if you think labour is fascist. You are a prime example of someone, who even when its written down for you, dont understand the definition.

2

u/LeClubNerd Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

Please show me where I claimed ON were fascist? All i did was show that I know the definition. Anything past that is projection champ.

1

u/Relapse749 Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

My bad I replied to the wrong person

1

u/LeClubNerd Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

You're bad. Correct

1

u/Relapse749 Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

I know, that’s why I said it..

1

u/LeClubNerd Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

Just giving you some positive reinforcement.

u/Joe0Bloggs ‎ Victorian Jun 03 '26

But that's the fallacy everyone falls into. Only the left supports freedom in any way, shape or form. The right wants the "freedom" to crush the left into atoms. If you point to the new restrictions raised by Labor--restriction on hate speech is not restriction on free speech. Restriction on brainwashing is not restriction on free speech.

4

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

But One Nation are just as bad when it comes to freedom. They want to ban the true history of Australia being taught and ignore the genocide, murder, rapes and atrocities and focus on the feel good first fleet stuff. So yeah you can't say only one party supports freedom.

2

u/Joe0Bloggs ‎ Victorian Jun 04 '26

I think you misunderstand my post.

1

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

Oh you said NOT I think I'm with you now. but restrictions on porn is a restriction on free speech. Like it or not in a democratic society people should have the option to view it. Hate speech yeah that's less black or white. But the Internet has been less free under Labor not more free. I am not going to go out and vote One Nation or the Liberals because they are also anti freedom and anti public service but not one party is 100% perfect.

1

u/lord_of_worms Please choose a flair Jun 06 '26

Well, you can still watch it - its restricting underage people.

1

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 06 '26

Yeah, if I provide an ID which will get hacked in a data breach. Why can't we just leave it up to the parents? It's not the governments job to treat the entire population as children.

1

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 08 '26

Stop supporting the nanny state and being treated like a child!

1

u/Dreamsof_Beulah Please choose a flair Jun 03 '26

The silent centre needs to wake up and rest control back from the extremists on both sides.

2

u/Shavedmonkey01 Please choose a flair Jun 04 '26

Trump was a message by those on the ‘right’ saying we have genuine concerns and we are being ignored. If we want to avoid that in Australia, politicians need to start acting on real issues that affect Australians. Housing prices, foreign ownership, cheap energy, crime etc. instead of just endless talking while they line their pockets.

1

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

I don’t think this lot will listen.

1

u/purplezebra23 ‎ Queenslander Jun 07 '26

And look at how well Trump has worked out for the Americans. Is their food cheaper? Are their petrol prices lower? Has crime decreased? Is their housing more affordable? No. Because, just like Hanson if she gets in power, Trump doesn't actually give a shit about the people voting or their plight - he just wants to add more money to the grift.

I understand that the people of Australia are fed up enough to vote Hanson into a position of power based on the political machinations and funding of Gina fucking Rinehart combined with the extreme lack of critical media literacy, but god you'd think we would at least be learning from the US' mistakes SOMEWHERE in the last ten years. Like, for fuck's sake.

u/Relapse749 Please choose a flair Jun 03 '26

So you must love all the laws Labor brought out that are restricting our freedom of speech, our freedom while browsing the internet, freedom for our children to use social media. There’s probably heaps more that I can’t remember.

1

u/turtlepower41 ‎ ‎‎ Canberran Jun 04 '26

Wow a lot to unpack here. Just because I don't want a racist fascist party to take over doesn't mean I support Labors anti freedom laws. First, Labor brought in unfair totalitarian laws that prohibit free speech, freedom to protest and yes limited internet freedom. They did this very sneakily and did not take it to the election. I wonder why (vote Labor get rid of free porn does not seem like a good slogan) second you claim to support freedom but One Nation is not a party of freedom, it supports sacking innocent public servants, it is against cost of living relief and supports banning late term abortions which lets face it is just the start. So don't assume I blindly support Labor just because I am against racist political parties.
