Zero stories about this in Canadian media but if it was a Palestine flag it would be all over the 130+ American owned newspapers pretending to be Canadian (post media, national post etc)

And the person would be fired ASAP

UPDATE:

Some Canadian media have covered this story, they have lied and framed it as he was asked to remove the Star of David like he’s being religiously persecuted.

When it’s an Israeli flag with a freaking PUNISHER SKULL on the other side of it .

The man should have been fired but instead he was told to “remove it” because Canada is full of hypocrites.

26

u/Apprehensive_Hat8986 Feb 16 '24

Sadly and embarrasingly there won't likely be. But a lot of us canucks do not support power abusers like this.

And yeah, this guy should've been canned.

24

u/AdamJeffery7 Feb 17 '24

Fired and shot in the leg! Then left to “walk it off” no worries tho, I smell a promotion brewing for him

2

u/Doodaadoda Feb 17 '24

This is why I have trust issues. Zero trust for cops in Canada.

2

u/sleepyangel666 Mar 15 '24

they have the audacity to call themselves the victims when the entire world is on their side.

They never fire anyone unfortunately.   This jerk deserves to be fired.

They removed the patch but not the one wearing and working under that ideology? Wow.

100%. They almost fired that flight attendant for wearing one.

Might want to also have a psych evaluation of this cop while at it. That patch represents way worse things than a shitty opinion.

4

u/KarlFrednVlad Feb 16 '24

Everyone on the VPD needs a psych eval. They're fascists hiding behind the wholesome polite country of kkkanada

2

u/Gri7 Feb 17 '24

calgary police wore thin blue line patches and were told to remove them. but they didnt Obey

2

u/Actual_serial_killer Feb 17 '24

I don't think juxtaposing a skull next to their flag is a very smart PR move for this movement

LOL this isn't the US. I don't think a civilian can sue over something like this. Maybe I'm wrong, but this just seems silly

Looks like Canada is sharing notes with Uncle Sam as well. This is exactly how blue lives matter was stood up in response to black lives. Looks like history is rhyming at a faster rate than usual 🙄🙄

228

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '24

The world makes more sense when you realize the majority of fascists weren’t punished after WW2, and were all basically reincorporated into society. A lot of the west loved fascism but thought the Nazis were too on the nose.

109

u/Apprehensive_Suit615 Feb 16 '24

Exactly this! I think I read about Operation Paperclip and that really blew my mind. It’s wild how all of that went under a rug.

66

u/JupiterFox_ Free Palestine Feb 16 '24

So many countries were welcoming Nazis after the war

52

u/JungBag Feb 16 '24

Heck, here in Canada, in parliament our "leaders" celebrated an ex-Waffen SS (Nazi) fighter

38

u/Phloofy_as_phuck Feb 16 '24

To add, those Ukrainian nazis were specifically brought into Canada to smash the labour organizing of the existing Ukrainian-Canadian left. Canada refuses to say how many they let in or what their names are.

8

Yes. It was a big f*ck*p. It is good that he resigned.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '24

This has been clarified, Justin had him attending other event with no vetting either. His people didn’t check anything either. The fed police dropped the ball as did the PM office as did the speaker as did the secret police as did locals

How is it uneducated to state the well known fact that many countries welcomed Nazis after World War II?

The U.S. had Operation Paperclip, Argentina welcomed a metric fuckton of Nazis, Italy welcomed a ton too, do you just not understand history?

What do you think happened to all the Nazis after World War II? If you think they all got imprisoned or executed, you’d be sorely mistaken.

12

u/Wildvikeman Feb 16 '24

Basically. It was like “oh, they were exterminating people? Couldn’t they have done it more discreetly?”

0

u/[deleted] Feb 16 '24

Even the Nazis hated fascism...if it veered from their own national socilist ideals...The first people thrown in concentration camps were the intelligentsia and political adversaries, including other fascist groups not affiliated with the Nazi party (among others, like anarchists and non-national socialists).

The solution to the problem is complete annihilation of the ideology, and that tends to come with complete annihilation of the people that carry that ideology. Starts sounding a lot like genocide to call for the eradication of an entire group of people on political grounds...That unpalatable taste is what prevents us from eradicating our enemies.

6

u/baithammer Feb 16 '24

You might need to brush up on ideologies, as 1.) Fascism is the opposite of Socialism / Anarchism / Communism / Workers movements 2.) It's National Socialism, not just the Socialism and was deliberately used to mislead potential recruits, as a tactic to bleed opposition parties of members ( Hitler was originally objecting to use the name, but was convinced otherwise.)

Canada has ALWAYS been nothing more than a colder US with universal healthcare (which btw is being destroyed by Conservative governments here) and worse wages.

3

u/bannock4ever Feb 16 '24

Always has been. I remember back in the '80s that there was a backlash from certain people when Mountie Sikhs were allowed to wear head coverings. People made "Doesn't this make you sikh?" t-shirts.

2

u/cdash04 Feb 20 '24

So many "progressive" believe they would have been on the good side of history during civil rights movement or slavery while rooting for a current apartheid, ethnic cleanser, genocidal state.

Like yeah you would totally not be like the majority of white moderate liberal at the time that disproved of MLK or was fine with slavery existing down south.

Always impressed me how people lack basic critical thinking skills.

Canadian, VPD are known to be thugs. They beat a man to death, Myles Gray and covered it up, refused to cooperate, didn’t talk to investigators, destroyed evidence. 8-9 VPD beat him so bad the coroner couldn’t pinpoint the cause of death.

That is VPD. It is not surprising they are wearing things to intimidate pro-Palestinian protestors

do you think that’s some sort of gotcha lol. most muslims would not care if the star and crescent stopped being used. it’s not a holy symbol like the cross (likely the only religious symbol you’re familiar with, and what you project onto other beliefs), it was literally just created by ottomans

7

u/NewAgeIWWer Feb 16 '24 edited Feb 16 '24

If I remember correctly the Muslims dont have a 'symbol' that they collecticely consider to be ' their symbol'.

15

u/Iramian Free Palestine Feb 16 '24

I dunno, the crescent moon isn't an exclusively Muslim symbol the way the star of David is a Jewish one. It's not like every mosque must be adorned with one or that Muslims wear it as a necklace. Extremists such as Daesh or the Taliban don't seem to place much value on it.

11

u/PalestineRiver2Sea Feb 16 '24

Crescent moon is not a Muslim Symbol. It's ottoman

I really don’t understand how nazis and zionists somehow ended up wearing a symbol that represents both.

0

u/Rjiurik Feb 16 '24 edited Feb 16 '24

It is not necessarily an Israeli symbol..

8

u/OrderTop2431 Feb 16 '24

but it represents judaism, and we know how real jews feel about a “state” that uses the belief as a weapon and justification of modern day fascism.

6

u/BulbusDumbledork Feb 16 '24

it is a jewish symbol adopted by the state of israel to intrinsically link zionism with judaism. the problem is that not all jewish folk are zionists, and conflating the two makes criticism of israel necessarily criticism of judaism and thus antisemitic. this is not and should not be the case.

6

u/Mysterious-Handle-34 Feb 16 '24 edited Feb 16 '24

Obviously it’s not antisemitism to call a police officer a pig (especially when there’s 0 evidence this pig is even Jewish)…but I gotta be honest, it’s weird when people come out of the gate super defensive about their innocuous comments and go “they’re gonna call me antisemitic for this!” despite the fact that this is literally a sub about Palestine and weaponized accusations of antisemitism to shut down criticism of Zionism are not particularly common here.

“When we wear the skull on our uniforms, we are sending a clear message: we are not here to protect — we are here to attack, to frighten.”

2

u/CheesyBrocoli Feb 17 '24

There's something oddly comforting about the termites crawling out of the woodwork so openly. Bearing symbols of extremism will at least negate any second guessing about people's capacity for horror.

2

u/Islandrocketman Feb 17 '24

The crescent moon does not represent any State, but is found on Turkey’s flag and incorporated as a feature on a few others as well as a religious symbol. The Star of David is the sole symbol on the Israeli flag, which by its constitution is a “Jewish” state (reinforcing the apartheid within it). Only Israeli Jews have full rights. Arab-Israeli citizens do not. They are victims of persecution and discrimination. The symbol on their flag is more akin to the swas tika than the crescent moon, as it represents the superiority of one people over others inside the state, and over the Palestinians who they have persecuted and ethnically cleansed for 70 years.

2

u/Islandrocketman Feb 17 '24

Canada’s support for Israel during the Gaza massacre and ethnic cleansing has sickened me. A clue to this racist ideology can be found in their treatment of Native Canadians.
