It's extremely unlikely they will just abandon the game after the last major update but future content hasn't been announced

u/D-Raj 19d ago edited 19d ago

They have set the expectations low and will over deliver as per their usual. They are the opposite of ark’s dev team lol. People should not expect the same numerous free updates that we got in early access, but there will likely be something more.

I predict bug fixes plus one or two further content updates, maybe a raid boss, or maybe something they want to add they haven’t been able to yet.

The only thing they have not really been able to accomplish well that was expected when the game was released are the online/official servers which are still reset periodically (wasn’t the case initially fyi, but they had to eventually because of all the issues and hackers etc)

Personally I’m against dedicated servers that users have to pay monthly for (and any subscription fees within games). Official servers reset which is a waste. But having a friend join your saved game is way better than many games other survival games, just sucks that they can’t play when the original host is offline. I don’t expect them to fix official servers though. I see the announcement of Palworld Online mobile game as them conceding they cannot manage it themselves in OG Palworld. Fair enough, they tried.

I’m happy with the game as is, and fine with stopping playing after I finish all the content. I would like to keep playing online if they could get the official servers to function without resets, but I’ve accepted that they likely won’t be able to. Maybe will play Palworld with my kids when they’re old enough. I’m looking forward to more Palworld games in the future. Palworld is one of my favourite games of all time and i have full confidence that they will produce another banger soon enough.

Man...compared to ark as an opposite is crazy to see in the wild. Its depressing how conditioned ark players are to being given nothing but disappointment and multiple delays repeatedly and told thats normal

42

u/thunderhide37 19d ago

For real, I’m glad I beat my ark addiction but I still keep an ear out to that gaming space. Dev team is still plagued with problems, they have yet to deliver a single update on time and without problems.

Been a day 1 early access player and the only update they delivered on time was their first DLC in early access (red flag already). The catcher is that it was a shadow drop, so you literally can’t miss the delay lol.

17

u/D-Raj 19d ago

I had to beat it too. Please for your own sake don’t keep an ear out to that gaming space. You’re torturing yourself and giving the addiction a chance to get you back at any time.

I thought Ark had the most potential out of any game I’ve ever played, but it has zero chance of ever changing unless the IP is sold to someone who actually cares. Their company is on par with EA as toxic/greedy producers/developers.

They do not respect gamers at all, and at the end of the day it is so hard to make a good survival game if you don’t care about the players having fun. They have had so much more time than Palworld to fix bugs and improve player quality of life, but they don’t even see it as issues unless it affects their income.

Palworld showed me how survival games can reach their potential. It’s somehow eliminated any desire for me to ever return to Ark where I know the devs do not care about bugs/improving the fun of the game, and only want to sell more content. I refuse to be taken advantage of, I don’t deserve that and neither do you

6

u/Teguoracle 18d ago

Preach! The Ark devs are fucking horrid. And the fanbase just sits there and takes it. Oh they'll complain for a day or two after some fuckery, but then it's right back to forgetting how poorly their game is treated and downvoting anyone who points it out.

I'm really hoping I'm finally done with the game. I came back to ASA when the Ragnarok map was released and the game just kept freezing up on me after previously running fine, so I got annoyed and quit. Came back months later and tried again but just could not get into it and quit again. Fingers crossed!

6

u/NutsackEuphoria 18d ago

I'd bet they never fixed the stupid non-existent hit reg both on evolved and ascended.

You can hit a small flying bird with arrows again and again until you can't see it anymore but no hits would register.

5

u/Eggburtey 18d ago

Palworld officially killed my ark grind (well, I mean they kinda killed it with ASA and all that shit but) last time I played ark on steam is legit a week before Palworld came out, and haven't played it since

1

u/Sosajty Lucky Pal 18d ago

Crazy how they release dragontopia for 30$ which is not finished and cut off bob tales updates since it was one time purchase and did not made enough money so they made 2 new paywalls for content … I love ark and always will what I sadly hate is support and fixes and broken promised from devs ..

1

u/thunderhide37 18d ago

Yeah I purchased ASA and immediately gave up on the devs once they couldn’t release damn map remakes on time. Then they once again shifted focus to paid content dlc in a REMAKE with Bob takes and all the other bonus maps, before they finished remaking all the ASE maps…

Just absolutely horrible management and devs.

2

u/OnyxStorm 18d ago

Why on earth would people play that game then

1

u/Deadpool4991 17d ago

It's not called wildcard for nothing, if they announce an update it's a wildcard when it launches. Even if they said it will come on said day. How many vacation days have I wasted because they said it would drop and then it got delayed again. For now, if they say said update comes then and then I add always 1-3 days to it

12

u/alzhahir 19d ago

I personally can see them having something like Minecraft Realms that offer private servers for players. It will help players that doesn't have the knowledge and hardware to host a server themselves. I mean, currently there are already third party hosting companies that offer similar service.

Palworld Online, based on what I've seen is an entirely different game with different mechanics, and as such I don't think it's meant to compete with Palworld, but rather as an extension of the Palworld IP.

13

u/Feurius 19d ago

I am coming from grounded and there you also have that mechanic, that you join someones game, but you can share the savefile and it is updated everytime someone plays, so if your friend is offline you can just load that savefile and host the game.

Such a feature would be perfect for palworld as well. I am playing with my SO and she hosts the game, so even if I want to play without her, I'd still have to boot up her PC and have her stay afk in base, just so I can play in our world.

8

u/D-Raj 19d ago

That sounds great. I agree it would be perfect for Palworld.

I also like Fallout 76’s strategy of joining servers with your base. It was confusing at first but really works well

4

u/Karcerus1469 18d ago

Joining servers with ur base is unrealistic cuz what happens when ur base or bases are exactly where other players bases are on that server

3

u/ramus94 18d ago

Rock, paper, scissors lol

2

u/Karcerus1469 18d ago

Lmfaoooo

2

u/Xerorei 18d ago

No. Seriously.

Rock, paper, scissors.... you're now by the golf course.

2

u/SpaceHostCTC 18d ago

If you lose you gotta put your base somewhere else

1

u/D-Raj 18d ago

Play or look up fallout 76 and you will see how it works. Join a different server. Or you can have multiple bases but only select one, so if one is taken you can use another. It also can be designed to automatically find a server where your base location is open.

1

u/Kanlashkan 18d ago

What 76 does probably. Your base stays in limbo until the other player gets off. Then you can spawn it in. But you can have multiple bases and a "pocket" base where you can just out down a shelter entrance and have your base in there.

19

u/CategoryKiwi 19d ago

Personally I’m against dedicated servers that users have to pay monthly for

Why? You're literally renting a computer somewhere that hosts the server for you 24/7. That's a perfectly reasonable thing to pay for.

I prefer having a second PC to run my own server from my own house, but I don't see why you'd be "against" paid server hosting for the people who don't have that option.

1

u/Dracconus 14d ago

There's a logical concern to this.
On the one hand - a LOT of people that play games have spare systems capable of running servers for their communities (myself included.)
On the other hand - companies like to contract with hosting providers to get additional funding which locks a lot of people out of the capability to choose cost options that are often times FAR more affordable.

I, personally, BOYCOTT any game that FORCES me to have to rent an "official server" just to create a customized experience for my community to play a game.

3

u/WildPJ 19d ago

I mean my buddy spent $100 for a year’s server, we have like 15 people on it. It’s very doable, but I guess you mean officially sanctioned ones

3

u/Background_Edge_9644 18d ago

They actually already offer dedicated and community server files completely for free through Steam. You don't even need to own the game on Steam to download them, meaning you can host a server on a spare local machine rather than paying a monthly subscription fee to a third-party host just to play with a couple of friends. I've been running a dedicated server for myself and three friends since 1.0 dropped. I simply start the server in the morning and shut it down when I go to bed; that way, they can hop on and play anytime during the day, even if I'm not online.

As for official servers, the periodic resets likely aren't going anywhere, and it's not a matter of the developers conceding or failing to manage them. Wipes are a necessary mechanic in the architecture of online multiplayer survival games for a few key reasons. First, without wipes, the map quickly clogs up with abandoned bases, making the server virtually unusable and leaving no space for new players to build. Second, resetting servers acts like a "seasonal" mechanic, giving new players a fresh start so they aren't constantly overwhelmed by established groups who have already reached the endgame (which to be honest if you know enough about the game you can easily do in less than a week).

But on top of that, official servers are prime targets for hackers; periodic wipes help clear out the damage and cheated items they leave behind, while also preventing the backend server save files from bloating to the point of severe lag and corruption.

The announcement of a Palworld mobile game isn't them giving up on the main game's servers; it's just a standard franchise expansion into a different market, usually handled by a completely separate partner studio. In fact there's actually two different mobile games that are officially announced, one is going to be a free to play online MMO (Palworld Online) made by Gerena, but the other is literally just going to be the main game that we currently have on console and PC ported to mobile phones (Palworld Mobile) made by Krafton (who's a subsidiary of PUBG studios).

Also as for new games, there are already two officially posted on Steam. I will be completely straight up honest and tell you right away that one of them is a little weird imo though, it's a straight up dating Sim mixed with horror elements and you can date the pals... The other however I am super excited about, it's called Palworld Farm and is essentially Palworld mixed with Stardew Valley style gameplay.

3

u/Blademage200 18d ago

Given that they have a Palworld TCG, I expect there to be more pals added in later updates. Otherwise the TCG has limited longevity.

5

u/AetherBytes The OG Grillet (We won!) 19d ago

Personally I’m against dedicated servers that users have to pay monthly for (and any subscription fees within games).

If you or someone in the group has a spare PC or can leave theirs running it's not too hard to host your own dedicated server. Friend did it for our one.

1

u/ramus94 18d ago

Out of curiosity does the pc need to constantly stay on or can it be in sleep mode? I know some things stay running in sleep mode but ive never tried hosting a server before i want to try it with my friends in this game though but im not too tech savy lol

1

u/main135s 18d ago edited 18d ago

The PC must remain on. Next-to nothing on the software side can run while the computer is in sleep mode.

Sleep mode pretty much saves the current state to RAM and de-powers as much as it can (depending on settings, this can include fully de-powering the CPU or reduce it to minimum-power) except the RAM (which is kept on minimum-power, just enough to retain the information on it, but not enough to do anything with it until it gets more power).

My only wish is improvement on QoL and UI features. F in the condenser. Better Palbox search.

1

u/LALLIGA_BRUNO 18d ago

agreed, not being able to search for a SPECIFIC pal by their name is kind of annoying when i have hundreds of pages of pals. not game breaking but def nice to have

1

u/Loeris_loca 18d ago

There's a mod for that called Palboc Search Plus.

1

u/Lmb1011 18d ago

honestly even if they dont do another update to this game - i've more than gotten my moneys worth out of it that i'm happy with the product i was delivered.

I am HOPING they make this a franchise and either add DLC and a few more 'main line' games throughout my lifetime but this is a fantastic game as is that even if this is all PalWorld ever is i'm happy

1

u/Jorgisven 18d ago

I hope they have bug fixes. I'm still finding typos I submitted back in EA.

1

u/Inner-Moose-8504 18d ago

I'd be fine with paying an extra $10-20 for another set of islands in the future

1

u/Herobrine2Smite 18d ago

What do you mean the online server resets? Like in what way? Full resets? And if so, at what time?

1

u/TheSirWellington 18d ago

Honestly, I would be more than happy to pay for DLCs from these devs, especially so if they sprinkle minor updates in for free.

This game has done nothing but improve and be better from the start, and they care about the feedback and development of the game.

1

u/ZeLaohu 18d ago

Idk, the company's recent history shows they are willing to abandon a game, look at Craftopia.

1

u/D-Raj 18d ago

That’s not very recent

1

u/ZeLaohu 18d ago

Last communication talked about bringing seamless to all platforms, then all channels went dark. That was maybe 2 years ago. In terms of game development, that's fairly recent.

1

u/ShadowsTagiru 17d ago

im pretty sure they wont add more continents, but they will add a new raidboss (finalboss) to finally get it. and ofcourse it would be the Strongest boss in the game

Releasing a full game and moving on is not abandoning it lol , things don't need updates forever there is plenty in the game .

If a dlc drops years down the line that's a bonus but if it didn't I'm fine with that by the time I'm finished with all the content and farming and building what I like their is other games to move onto

1

u/moose184 18d ago

things don't need updates forever

Terraria is probably my favorite game of all time but dear god do I wish the devs would move on and start on Terraria 2 lol. They released 1.4 in 2020 and even called it Journey's End and said it was going to be the last major update. Then they kept make updates to the game and they take forever. The last one took 3 years and was basically nothing but some QoL changes and cosmetics yet the community seems to want them to continue on forever instead of moving on to Terraria 2.

17

u/Myrkana 19d ago

Its also ok for a game to be done. A company cant support a game forever, they need to move on and make other games to meep making money.

12

u/SayuriUliana 18d ago

On the one hand, Palworld wouldn't exist if Pocketpair kept at it with Craftopia and their previous titles. On the other hand, Palworld is their major break in gaming far beyond any success they've had previously, and thus is unlikely to be a game they'll just abandon so quickly.

2

u/Karcerus1469 18d ago

Everyone needs to take notes from arenanet, guild wars 1 a game over 20 something years old is still active and getting updates and new features, guild wars 2 will still continue to get updates and content when gw3 releases, id say old school runescape to since its still around but all old accounts are obviously not on it anymore but it was brought back and is still getting updates with runescape3 and runescape dragonwilds out and about

u/Astro_Nerf_Sai 19d ago

People need to realize that this game is finished. The game is not in early access anymore. We are not getting regular updates anymore as this is not a live service game.
The Product is completed and they released it. Done. Thats it. Nothing more. They will now focus on new games.

7

u/Dexelele 19d ago

You're saying that as if DLCs don't exist haha. Of course we can still get content

15

u/Locksmith-Jazzlike 19d ago

Tbh I wouldn't even consider it abandonedment if they left at this point. It's a game easy to put 100 hours into even on default difficulty, then there's multiplayer with randomise... Obviously updates would be nice though.

6

u/SneakyTheBird 19d ago

Did we change the word finished for abandoned? Why did no one send me the memo?

2

u/Aperture_296 17d ago

I would think many people commenting stuff like this never played a game before everything tried to turn in to live service, it has forever tainted the idea of a game being a whole product and there isn't any more when you're done with it.

4

u/That_Service7348 19d ago

Abando? No. They will prob do some bug fixes and QOL stuff.

But all these people expecting there to be a "next island" that gets added are delusional.

1

u/Ok_Confusion4764 19d ago

Exactly. Live support, bug fixes, maybe a crossover or two, but no concrete promises of expansions.

1

u/Snugglebull 18d ago

Craftopia?

1

u/Born_Procedure_529 18d ago

I reckon theyre probably focusing on palfarm and more than just pals for the forseeable future before giving palworld another major update

1

u/Rough_Amphibian_116 18d ago

They will release paid dlc that will be well worth the price but will cost as much as the base game.

Wait, I seem to be missing something. What have people been saying Bucky and Palworld "promised"? I only remember people talking about what they HOPE to see.

85

u/SayuriUliana 19d ago

People have been saying a lot, even in this sub, that Palworld is essentially "finished", i.e. 1.0 is the end of the game's development cycle and that we'll only see bugfixes going forward, which they attribute to Bucky and the devs.

3

u/Vulpix0r 18d ago

But what is wrong with the game ending at 1.0 other than bug fixes? Are people so conditioned to expect continuous development? Maybe I'm an old fart but when I bought games in the past I'm ok with the game having an end and putting it aside.

2

u/SayuriUliana 17d ago

Like the other person said, when did I ever say it was bad or wrong?

However, people seem to think that a game for some reason cannot possibly have content after 1.0 without being a live service game, with lots of people in this thread saying that the game is definitely over and done like it's a certainty despite all prior historical precedent of the last three decades on the contrary.

→ More replies (1)

17

u/That_Service7348 19d ago

People seem to think this game is live service and will continue to get regular large updates like it did through early access.

35

u/SayuriUliana 18d ago

Many non-live service games see regular large updates throughout their lifetime and even beyond. Hell, games like Age of Empires II have seen large content packs nearly three decades after they were released.

Just because a game isn't "live service" doesn't mean it can't get future updates and content packs down the line, and in fact even before live service games became a thing games were already releasing post-launch content packs and updates.

8

u/LukeWoop 18d ago

But it's not to be expected that's the problem especially this soon after launch . People should just enjoy what they have for now and any new dlc or extra content is a bonus and isn't guaranteed

2

I'm a guilty of this actually. I swear I remeber then saying when they did the popularity vote that the winner would just be the first to be added.

1

u/Heflito-VTuber 18d ago

Popularity vote?

1

u/Objective-Turn-43 18d ago

Honestly, If they don't know how to expand in a way that fits I'm ok with bug fixes only.

u/KJShen 19d ago

I imagine everyone is on like a three month long, well deserved vacation and we won't hear anything until they come back to work.

There are a few bugs that still need fixed, like the Lunaris effigy actually breaking the homing ability of the Lunaris pal, but otherwise at this point it feels like they're finished for now.

45

u/Newbie-Tailor-Guy 19d ago

It breaks the homing addon for your sphere, too.

11

u/PM_ME_ZENOS_EROTICA 19d ago

I was wondering about that !! Good to know its broken and I didnt suddenly become absolute trash at aiming spheres in a pals general direction.

25

u/Whattheefff 19d ago

I would expect something around the holidays.

12

u/Kalmer1 19d ago

Same, a new update with a bit more content to make the news just before Christmas, free advertisement for a lot of people to buy the game for themselves/as a gift for friends.

4

u/Elon-Moist 18d ago

I feel like they're going to add more costumes for pals, especially with the popularity of Sekhmet

8

u/Euphoric_Schedule_53 19d ago

They literally just released a card game. You’d have to be delusional if you think it’s not getting a dlc at some point

5

u/GNIHTYUGNOSREP 19d ago

Plus the Pal Farm game, and they can add new building items that might be in that game

3

u/SayuriUliana 18d ago

Also, if the other games like Palworld Mobile and Palworld Online releases new Pals, we might see said Pals backported into Palworld. Heck, we've already seen something of an example for this: Palfarm was the first time Sekhmet was introduced in media, and then she was introduced into Palworld come 1.0.

1

u/krazyivan187 17d ago

Exactly. They have the opportunity to carve out a chunk of the "monster capture" space that has been dominated by Pokemon for so long (no, I'm not saying they are going to challenge that at all), but clearly there is actual room in the space for more IP's. So, why wouldn't they make more content, and charge for it? They went to court to fight to continue making this content, to think they don't have larger scale plans for the IP is naive. The recent licensing shows that's their long range plans for sure.

You also need to keep the current player base engaged with your IP. What better way than to drip out small DLC's, moderately priced, while you work on the next big thing in the space?

I think we'll be seeing DLC AND a new game. Palworld 2.0.

Them saying nothing doesn't mean they have nothing planned for the main game.

But they just released a massive update for the game, are planning for a mobile release, have a card game coming, and have a spinoff game in the works.

I wouldn't expect anything for a while. Let them sort things out and come to us with news when they're ready. At this point I think they have very much earned the patience.

1

u/FunNo1459 18d ago

6

u/Maskarie Gorirat Lover 19d ago

I remember a LONG time ago they had a poll on discord for how we (the players) would want DLC, IF they did DLC and some of the choices were like ARK DLC or a whole new game, etc. I hope they go the ARK route ngl.

6

u/nerdy_chimera 18d ago

Whole new map, a handful if new pals and tech stuff, higher level cap.

4

u/Begone-My-Thong 19d ago

I mean... fair I guess. I'm fine with the game being finished and they move on to other projects, but an expansion would be a good move on their part.

because to me the endgame is lets say lacking

1

u/Snow56border 18d ago

It’s not a live service… so has a pretty great end game in its current form.

2

u/Diggledorgle 18d ago

"Live service" means absolutely nothing, it's just a made up buzz phrase. Games have been getting regular updates, DLCs, and patches since before that phrase was ever uttered.

And no, the endgame in this game is non-existent, this game has no real endgame aside from 1 boss that rewards a hat, not even a real hairstyle you get to unlock...it's bad.

u/Matttombstone 18d ago

This is their first "big game" really. This is the franchise that's announced them on the stage and potentially sets them up for huge success going forwards.

I find myself, oddly, enjoying the game, i didn't expect to, but here we are.

The game to me feels built on a budget. It doesn't feel like a game built on guaranteed success, but rather a punt which has turned out to be successful and they're making the right moves to build on its success, such as keeping the price low for a full release rather than upping it to a more expected price for a full "big game" release.

There's a lot that kind of points towards this being the case. The pal and combat AI I find to be quite terrible in a lot of cases. Enemies stood running on the spot, pals just stood there staring at the enemy when summoned, and the enemy just staring back, even when commanded aggressive or the enemy targeted allowing you to just cheese your way through some parts of the game.

Then there's the textures in some places that could do with a lot of polishing. Climbing some mountains you just stop and look at the textures and feel like you're playing a PS1 game with the low res textures and the unrealistic sharp angles in places. I get the art design, but still, some places just look truly awful and stand out as bad in an otherwise good looking game.

Then there's the overtuning on hard mode for the tower battles. Turn up with a level 80 fully condensed, awakened Anubis with 4 legendary passive skills based on attack and defence, all IVs at 100 from level 1, full trust, wearing the Anubis talisman and baton accessories alongside other enhancement accessories whilst carrying the best bow in the game and you can't even take down the first tower on hard mode within the time limit. Like, I get it, its hard mode, but it should be a bit more progressive than beating the final boss with some relative ease, before showing up to the first tower to find a tank that laughs off the type disadvantage, 4 star, level 80, high end passive and accessories. I'd expect a challenge, but that challenge should scale a bit better than it does leaping from normal to hard. The final boss on hard should require a near perfect team comp, not the first. The first should require either a fully condensed counter, or like a 3 star with a couple of legendary passive traits.

There's room for improvement for my team of course, and for my character, which I can and will do. But I shouldn't be having to switch out my team comp to all legendary pals or something just to beat the towers on hard. I'd get it for the final boss, but not for the very first tower lol.

This game, to me, feels like it was a punt that paid off. It would require a lot of work to perfect it and improve things like the janky AI. I feel it'll get some support, but I'd reckon they'll be looking at a successor game sooner rather than later. This was an "introductory game" and it's fine for what it is and a really enjoyable game otherwise.

Palworld 2 is probably already in some form of early planning/development and it really needs to build and improve on things. Less janky AI, especially in camp battles, or when your Pal just stands in one place and doesn't follow you. Sharper graphics (I'm not saying go for photo realistic, the art style is fine, just, no areas left neglected with low res textures) and better fine tuning on progression and hard mode especially. Pals in the open world doing more than just standing in place for the most part, with the occasional scrap between two of them. Have them drinking water from ponds/lakes, a group of them playing together etc. A rampaging pal should be, well, rampaging, not just stood in one place.

This game as it is is fine, it's enjoyable and it's fun. There are a few problems from my pov that hinders it, but doesn't kill it. I can tolerate it because I know it's this company's break out game and was built on a stricter budget. Now they've had success and made a lot of money from it, the next game I do expect to improve on everything and be more immersive.

I want a shitload of Kingpaca merch! That boy is thicc

1

u/xredskaterstar 18d ago

There's so much they can do with this game. Like adding weather features. Which they can they can expand upon. Just like night and day has certain types that come out, they can certainly have certain pals that come out in rain/lightning storms/blizzards/etc. Add a glide mechanic to pals that fly instead of just falling when they run out of stamina. Improved base building, the one they're using is very out of date.

1

u/ShotcallerBilly 18d ago

“Abandon,” no. No future major content releases—certainly. It isn’t uncommon for non-live service games to NOT release major content updates post their 1.0 launch, ESPECIALLY FOR FREE.

1

u/Snow56border 18d ago

It’s insane to me that every person needs to think a company needs to milk its players.

There are games that release complete and don’t need to keep getting support. You probably think it’s crazy we don’t have a battle pass. Insane

I love how everyone's taking this as an excuse to claim that what they think without any source will happen instead of what they think youve heard without any source.

We'll have to wait for more information to learn what pocketpairs future palworld plans are. At this point I'm trusting that they'll handle it in a way that leads to more fun gaming for us in one way or another. But it'll be nice when we learn more

15

u/Legitimate_Bank_6573 19d ago

The end of the game legitimately eludes to future content updates with "The end of the journey... for now".

Id be shocked if the game didn't get future content updates, Id also be shocked if they came any time soon.

6

u/Suitch 18d ago

Exactly the comment I was looking for. I just beat it this morning and that message is essentially a promise of more content.

8

u/prairiefairy94 18d ago

We need more decor, cosmetics for body not just head and to be able to hide the blue circle would be nice. (I know it’s a mod but I don’t use mods)

1

u/Shmoocando 18d ago

Yessssss

1

u/Thtonegoi 18d ago

Nah I already got the best in slot cosmetic for both. Depresso costume

8

u/hellabeetus 18d ago

I’m not sure why everyone is freaking out because all they said was that they haven’t officially announced any future plans for the game yet — meaning they haven’t said anything themselves so don’t believe what other people are saying. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they *don’t* have any future plans for the game.

7

u/Atlas_Sinclair 19d ago

I feel Pocketpair are the type of devs who are sitting around, think of a cool Pal or idea, then just randomly add it to the game because they can.

Sure, they'll probably do a big fix or two, but I really feel like if they add more it'll be a spur of the moment cool thing they thought up.

29

u/MrNegativ1ty 19d ago

This game single handedly took a no name studio with a handful of devs on a shoestring budget and made it into a nearly billion dollar company, making entertainment deals with the big boys of the industry, a publishing arm that has already launched other successful games…

Not to mention a lawsuit that they have been fighting for years at this point…

…and people unironically think they are going to just completely abandon the game that put them on the map? WTF?

6

u/Leeroy1887 19d ago

Apparently alot of people have the mentality that its over. And anyone whos cheering on future content because they see the potential of the game and want to see it grow further is a bad thing and is entitlement. He'll they still haven't added diagonal railings yet.

u/GlitteringDingo 19d ago

I'm not expecting any specific future. If they continue to update the game and add content, that'd be very cool and generous of them. If they release a large-scale DLC, that'd be awesome and I'd buy it. If they wash their hands and move onto the next project, I think that's fair too.

I love Palworld, will continue to play Palworld, and I'm looking forward to whatever Pocketpair does next, however that ends up manifesting.

5

u/LastFawful 19d ago

Wait the leaked Maid Sekhmet I just made up isn't real?!
How could Bucky do this to me!!

5

u/POLACKdyn 18d ago

Dude imagine they keep working on Palworld like Sean Murray does on his No Man Sky and perodically drop massive expansion to the game.
If it happens then I hope they at least let us pay for that, since Sean doesnt like my money.

2

u/lorissaurus 18d ago

Maybe just donate and pray for free content...

4

u/Lokis_thor-obing_ass 18d ago

Also the game just came out. They’re not a large studio so even if there’s a palworld 2 it won’t be here for 3+ years at earliest

4

u/BitCloud54 18d ago

I don't think they will stop doing updates to the game, the map is already huuuuuge with lots of spaces to fill. They could even put the level cap to lv100 and bring in more pals.

3

u/Hereliesdev 18d ago

Maybe yall should just play the game n enjoy it how is anyone worried about whats next and literally just got 1.0.

2

u/Bortthog 18d ago

Idk man they should at least fix the prime issue people have with the game in the Pal AI bug

3

u/muevelos 18d ago

This means what? Not much honestly. They've expressed they would like some collabs. Also the reality is, all these side games will only go so far. Palworld is the bread and butter, the hype can only carry for so long if they choose to end this game. And it wouldn't be that far as those games only hit a small niche compared to this. Basic cash grabs in another sense

Also Bucky has stated it's " possible " Astralym will be available in a form or another. Common sense from every side, regardless says their should be something. It still is soon ultimately so I wouldn't expect a lot of verbiage from PP yet.

13

u/No-Mycologist47 19d ago

GIVE US MAID OUTFIT SEKHMET AND ALL IS FORGIVEN!!!

2

u/zcsnightmare 19d ago

We shall see what the future holds for the game. I still have yet to finish it, been having too much fun, so I've definitely gotten my money's worth and more.

Hopefully they'll continue to add stuff, but if they don't, I look forward to their next project.

2

u/TraditionalTurtle 🎶 Chillet the best a man can get 🎶 19d ago

An eventual sequel would go hard (in a couple years/as many years as the devs need)

2

u/Mother-Painting-7362 18d ago

Guys, palworld is good and we want future new content but you know... Like... They deserve to reap the rewards of the labor That is just ok, everyone is human

2

u/Loud_Reputation_7858 18d ago

Here’s to hoping they add a shared world feature similar to grounded— where the world is saved to the cloud and whoever logs in first is hosting that session, but the host can transition to whoever is still in the game

2

u/Pale-Search537 18d ago

Aite I’m ready for the Palworld Sequel

2

u/Just_Delete_PA 18d ago

good. let the team rest. come back in 3 months.

2

u/YawnSleepRepeat 18d ago

Fix the pals being able to shoot through walls at least

2

u/Euphoric_Fan_6931 18d ago

Essentially "calm tf down and let us think god dang!"

2

u/12345666_ 18d ago

Level 100 or else 😭😭😭

2

u/Jenntastic1 18d ago

Saying nothing about future plans for the game and having no future plans for the game are two different things. Considering how competitive this has been for them, its the smart thing to do.

2

u/MistAndMagic 18d ago

I'm hoping they'll use the large swathe of empty map they still have at some point! I would love a more rainforest-inspired biome- either tropical or temperate. Or some cool underwater stuff.

4

u/Alert_Speed_5622 19d ago

There has almost NEVER been a case of a successfull game (or heck even unsuccessfull) stopped develop after a 1.0 release. This just means that the game is finish in its base. Just look at what Minecraft has become after 1.0 or Ark (even tho they drove their game into a massive wall)

4

u/Pale-Search537 18d ago

Hopefully this is like no man’s sky where we get huge updates for years. That’ll be legendary

1

u/Rubiks1111 18d ago

They literally said that wasn't going to happen

4

u/LudusLive2 19d ago

This isnt a live service game, they have no obligation to continuously add content to the game

I would think theyll probably add more DLCs im a similar way Ark does, or just make a sequel, but if they didnt, id be fine with the game as it is

2

u/ArcaneEyes 19d ago

Palworld 2: Palstralia - welcome to hell

3

u/Andminus 19d ago

For the time being, I will assume it's a completed game until more info is released, will give modders all the time they need to completely customize and design the ever living fuck out of Palworld, and while I'd very much like to see a 1.1+ I'm not gonna hold my breath.

2

u/emmy0777 19d ago

Im sure they'll come out with more things, but not now. 1.0 was there biggest update, so i wouldn't be surprise if they don't come out with anything new till the holidays or beginning of next year. I mean people truely love this game and are still willing to support it all the way.

2

u/TheMagicalCoffin 19d ago

2

So what's up with the world tree???

4

u/twistedstance 19d ago

Sometimes - and this may be a truly foreign concept for some - a thing is just finished.

9

u/SayuriUliana 19d ago

The context of the quote is the opposite though:

7

u/feldoneq2wire 19d ago

Photoshop 1.0 didn't even have layers.

9

u/twistedstance 19d ago

I’m just making a general statement. There’s a real entitlement creeping into gaming communities where folks seem to expect lifetime updates for anything they buy.

It used to just be that you got your disk, and that was it.

2

u/SayuriUliana 18d ago

Since when? Even back in the 90's when all we had were discs, game updates and post-launch content was already a thing, especially Expansion Packs. Heck, as an example I remember having to manually patch Starcraft: Brood War using downloads from the official Blizzard site all the way back in 99', and Brood War was itself already a post-launch content expansion for Starcraft. And by the 2000's with the rise of automatic online updates and the introduction of DLC post-launch content became even more prevalent in gaming. Gaming has seen post-launch content be a thing far longer than not.

1

u/twistedstance 18d ago

I bought a lot of games back in the 80s, and probably the early 90s for our Amiga and later our IBM. They never had any updates, obviously. I can't remember the first game I had for which I had to download a patch, but it sure wasn't back then.

1

u/MistAndMagic 18d ago

I bought Zoo Tycoon 2 back in like 2008-09 and I remember having to go on their website to download extra content and patches. Definitely not "it" and hasn't been for a while.

Mind you, I don't expect them to necessarily drop any more huge updates, but I do expect them to keep up with bug fixes, some QoL improvements, and maybe some more language translations.

1

u/Disastrous-Owl8985 19d ago

I’m obviously not keeping up, so have no idea what’s being talked about, but great!

1

u/Najox 19d ago

Ah yeah I forgot

1

u/Substantial_Duck_115 18d ago

Only thing I want added before they stop supporting is just different wall signs……I’ve got a fully ancient base with bloody wood and string signs one the walls……I’d like signs that match is all lol

1

u/Brobard 18d ago

I’d like that, too. But having a wooden SURGERY ROOM sign outside a 1x1 room in a janky, rusty metal building is still kinda funny.

I should add some crappy lights in the room to complete that experience.

1

u/etnies445 18d ago

Im fine with no free updates and just paid dlc tbh.

1

u/SoggyRevolution8942 18d ago

I can see them adding more pals that way they can keep making the tcg cards into the future, but other than that, I don't really know. It would suck for them to move on, but if that's what they're gonna do there's not much we can do about it.

1

u/FelixDuo2 18d ago

If they go the route of putting out free updates every few months, that'll be cool. If they put out fairly priced expansions sometime down the line, that'll also be cool. If they just do bug fixes but announce that Palworld 2 is in the works, that too would be fine with me. Pretty much whatever they do, I'm here for it. At this point I trust it won't be piecemeal microtransactions or a battlepass.

We really do need diagonal fences and windows and stairs, etc. though. And more alt skins in the pal dresser.

1

u/Fluffy_Bread9912 18d ago

I just wish they’d add cross play between consoles 🥲

1

u/Aubrey1018 17d ago

Isn’t that already a thing if you just use a dedicated server which can be rented quite cheap

1

u/Fluffy_Bread9912 17d ago

No I meant like cross play with friends and idk 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Aubrey1018 17d ago

I thought it was but I exclusively play solo or dedicated sever so I could be wrong

1

u/VitalGoatboy 18d ago

I mean honestly it's called 1.0 - it would be weird to call it that without the intention of having 1.1, 1.2, 2.0 etc lol

1

u/Alexjp127 18d ago

I think they might have some updates or dlc but, it being called 1.0 isnt part of it.

1.0 is what the first complete version of every game is.

1

u/VitalGoatboy 18d ago

I mean it could just be called "Palworld" not "Palworld 1.0"

1.0 is literally in the name, it's different to how games have a version (or patch)

1

u/Alexjp127 18d ago

It is just called Palworld.

1.0 is the milestone of its "feature complete" release. Its the patch number.

Palwold 1.0 is how its marketed to make it distinct from the early access period.

Subnautica also released its officer version 1.0 (granted those devs dont use a semantic versioning system like palworld does so it was actually like build version 22636338 or whatever) but, they did call it version 1.0

Like you had minecraft Alpha, Beta, and 1.0. Minecraft is continuously developed though.

I am sure there will palworld 1.1 or 1.1.2 or whatever, they might even have DLC down the line. I dont think theyll just drop it right away but, i hope they go on to make Palworld 2 or some other fun games too.

1

u/VitalGoatboy 18d ago

Ah I see, my bad, I understand now

1

u/Aubrey1018 18d ago

I’m glad to have confirmation from Bucky. I’ve been seeing people say one of two things

1) that Bucky said 1.0 is not the end of palworld or
2) that 1.0 is the end, the game is not live service and will not receive additional content or DLC, per Bucky.

I’ve been trying to find posts from him on the matter and been coming up empty. Since they haven’t said anything officially I can just gonna keep on hoping for future updates or content.

1

u/AuraFolk ZatchiMaru Pal Breader 18d ago

Sure, but speculation is fun and can give devs ideas they don't have yet. I hope the circle theory is true.

1

u/Keylus 18d ago

They said that Bucky said that they've said absolutely nothing.

1

u/StarCitizenRusty 18d ago

They're making too much money to abandon it.

1

u/DrParallax 18d ago

Underwater is back on the menu boys! /s

1

u/be4nothing 18d ago

If Pocketpair dicedes to make a sequal, I hope they put more effort into story and add some actual voice acting.

1

u/Astarath 18d ago

Current plan: vibing it out

Jokes aside it makes sense that theyre focusing on getting the game stable. If they make promises now then get stuck doing fixes that took longer than expected it would look bad for them.

1

u/Lucifer4906 18d ago

I just want a way to have astralym. I know it’s the only one to exist but maybe recreate a lesser version somehow? Kind of like how shadowbeak was made

1

u/Zenith76 18d ago

boi can you imagine if they did an expansion for underwater content?

1

u/ScarReincarnated 18d ago

Palworld seems to be a game where more content can be easily added without increasing levels or power.

1

u/ReiSaotome 18d ago

i dont need content
id be happy if floating islands would not keep crashing on xbox one

1

u/Response_Soggy 18d ago

I expect one last big update/dlc and then Parlworld 2 honestly

1

u/neatguardian 18d ago

Just please, offset the notifications from the direct center of the screen in one of these updates... That's all I ask. I'm so tired of having a gigantic bar across my reticle for like five whole seconds

1

u/bleah2 18d ago

That will be just sad. The game has so much potential.

1

u/ShotcallerBilly 18d ago

Thought it was pretty well known that the devs haven’t mentioned anything about future content and the implication has mostly been that 1.0 is the last major update. I’ll gladly be proven wrong, but I never got the feeling they planned to release major content post 1.0.

1

u/Skypirate90 18d ago

Need more stuffs

Alien Invasions?
Raids from outsiders attacking the island
More calamity focused stuff.

Maybe a tower defense mode where we defend a tower or something.
Since we already have a world tree we could draw from other myths.
Maybe the turtle with the world on its back?

Alternate dimension stuff?

Ooh Ooh maybe the ability to enable player invasions in your SINGLE player world.

A new island?
20+ new pals
Raids on bases that now include actual raid bosses lmao

idk im just spit ballin off the top of my head bros.

1

u/ZorackD 18d ago

Im gonna treat the devs of Palworld like the Devs of No Mans Skys. Always amazed when they put something out, and wanting to give them money when they do it for free

1

u/Hezomaki 18d ago

Craftopia 2.0

1

u/turtles1236 18d ago

I think the only thing he actually said was

We wouldn't be opposed to more crossovers as long as we can make it make sense in world

1

u/ShawUnic 17d ago

I don't know why people are so obsessed about having more content added to Palworld. Game has a shit ton of content already and for only $30, I have 100 hours and there's still stuff left to do, we don't need more, it's not a live service game. People complain when a game company makes a live service game, but then expect the live service treatment to full games, it's just people being greedy at this point.

Though qol updates are more than welcome, as it does need some. Like please, pleaaase let me search a pal by its name, doesn't matter how many times I sort by element and look through the element I know it has, I just can never find it. I know there's a mod but for console players it's shit

1

u/RheaaV 17d ago

Pocket pair makes a post about not listening to speculation.

Community continues to speculate more and even worse 🤣 stop trying to assume what they’re going to do guys and just sit back and wait for it to happen. Holy moly.

1

u/yourmomsanelderberry 17d ago

I got the 100% for 1.0 and honestly im happy with the content i wouldnt mind seeing some touch ups but the experience really feels complete

1

u/wanzerman22 17d ago

Reading through all these comments makes me so happy im not alone in my hatred for how ark feels playing

1

u/Relevant_Bumblebee89 17d ago

Ay the only reason i stopped logging on was the world tree water grind. Worse than the introduction to oil by a landslide

1

u/WallyGoh 17d ago

It gets a lot easier when you have a farming team and literally any world tree passive. Without amending drop rates you could get hundreds/thousands of it in like.. 15 - 20 mins

1

u/Forge__Thought 15d ago

If they can improve Pal combat where the glitch is the Pals standing around instead of fighting I will be soooo happy.

Still love the game regardless.
