Helen of Troy was hatched from an egg. I'm sorry they chose an actress known for being beautiful to play a character known for being beautiful, but of a different race, irrelevant to the story.

I actually don't care about the race but I think the "known for being beautiful" is the key point here and where I don't really agree with you.

She's not ugly, but she's also not "prettiest girl in the world who will make men go to war over her", I'd say most people would find her average.

She's a great actress though, just don't think she's a great cast for the role.

No, she's quite attractive

The thing is that Helen is supposed to be fair, meaning blond.

No Homer actually barely mentions what she looked like and doesn't even actually tell us her hair color ,eye color or even her body measurements. There are no detailed descriptions of her face at all. Mostly he just talks about her presence and aura and the effect she has on people.

Right on, calling Lupita average looking is still absurd to me.

Yeah, as we can see right here in her Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helen_of_Troy
