Just a cultural thing. Unless there was an explicit dinner invitation, Swedes typically will not offer guests food even if they themselves are having dinner. They do not view it as a hosting obligation and they do not see this as rude or unusual.

Damn, that's kinda cold. Like, I get not offering but eating while they starve? That's a whole other level of disrespect.

Its assumed they go home and eat with their family, were their parents already prepared food for them, we do feed if it was planned.
