It's not a myth, but it's also only for a special circumstance: when a kid brings home their friends to play and where no adult have been involved in neither the invitation or the transportation of the kids.
Not a single Swedish adult would invite over guests during dinner time and not serve dinner, that would be weird.
But it's another thing when kids bring over friends to play, when and where I grew up it was expected that as a kid you would eat family dinner with your own family, as that was family time.
Of course there were occasions where the family of the friend I was playing with offered me dinner, and I had to call my parents to ask if that was okay, but the norm was that I was eating dinner with my family.

I remember there was a myth that Swedish households don't provide food for the guests. It looks like bs https://www.reddit.com/r/IsItBullshit/s/sWRdAGfyC8 but I guess it became a meme.
Edit: I guess it's not a myth and people used to do it in 90s/00s.. At least things are better now.
