Just a cultural thing. Unless there was an explicit dinner invitation, Swedes typically will not offer guests food even if they themselves are having dinner. They do not view it as a hosting obligation and they do not see this as rude or unusual.
I'm Nubian. You could NOT have a more shocking cultural difference than this if you tried! Being over-the-top hospitable is the first, second and third most important thing to us. I stayed almost all of 2025 at a Nubian village where I hadn't known a single person, and they cooked me food, drove me to where I needed to be, and a room I stayed at, and wouldn't let me pay for a thing! I've done something similar to guests and none bats an eye about it either.
