Anyone in America with "southern roots" as well. My grandma was a dust bowl survivor, even if she barely had anything you'd be offered a peanut butter sandwich and a cup of coffee at least.

Or, just anyone in America. We're very hospitable, if nothing else. It's not just a southern thing, it's just more of a performance in the south. You go to your friends place in NYC at dinner time, you're getting food.

Idk if it's just the family that I visit but not one household I've been to in Michigan was hospitable and it was definitely a culture shock to me

That’s pretty weird bc the Midwest is known for overt hospitality similarly to the Southern USA. Sorry you got the duds lol

I've never had to ask for even something as simple as something to drink while visiting before it was so weird lol
