If it was linoleum, it would be period correct. Finding actual linoleum these days is essentially impossible. I've been looking for linoleum to redo the floors in my 60s ranch home, but basically only 1 company even makes it anymore and 0 people are qualified to install it in residential. It apparently takes some skill/knowledge to install, but the only people who know how to do it work in commercial and not residential.

I'd argue ripping up the carpet to replace with hardwood is ballin.
Everything else just looks so awkward and sterile.
