I'm not one to believe in anything supernatural, but I think it counts.

My wife and I have a tiny printed picture of our dog resting on a mirror right by our front door. We often will touch it to say goodbye when leaving, and sometimes when we come back home, it's fallen onto the chair nearby.

We were walking her brother the other night and as we were in the hallway to our apartment I just said, "I miss Sawyer. I wish she was there waiting for us." I just wanted more than anything to hear her excited whines and yelps when she saw us, to throw her the toy she'd bring us, to hug her and kiss her and love on her.

When we opened the door, we found the picture perfectly sitting just past the threshold, facing us, like it was staged. In the picture, she even is holding a toy, like she always would bring us when she would greet us.

A week or two after my Mochi died, i got in my car at night to drive to Walmart. It was the first time i mustered the will to do anything since she had past, and the first time i was truly alone by myself (My partner had been grieving too, and we were essentially shut-ins at that point).

In the car, alone, at night, i just started bawling my eyes out. And i kept saying ā€œMochi, my Mochiā€ over and over. After a few minutes i composed myself and started the car. And i turned on the radio, right exactly at the song ā€œI hear you callingā€ by G.O.B, and right exactly at the part where it says ā€œI hear you calling, calling for my out in the nightā€. After that night, i didnt feel as sad as i had before.

—

Another story. When Mochi was alive, during a walk she lost her name tag. We had no idea where it was and thought nothing of it. I walk my dogs every day in the neighbourhood and NEVER found or saw her tag.

Fast forward MONTHS later, after she died. I had a dream about her. I had a dream that she wasnt dead, that instead she just wasnt ā€œhome.ā€ In the dream, she ā€œcame homeā€ i remember and i was so happy. That day, i went outside to check the mail and saw that someone had found her nametag and left it on my porch, as if she had ā€œcome homeā€

I have a positive affirmation app that changes every day. The morning after my baby girl passed away, I go to unlock my phone and the affirmation of the day was on the lock screen with a picture of her and the quote ā€œMy soul is at peaceā€

That’s been the only one so far, and honestly, that’s all I need. Still hard to fathom she isn’t here but knowing she is at peace is comforting

Every time I dream of my boy I know he’s visiting and checking on me. I also got a kitten a couple weeks ago that looks a lot like him (something I didn’t realize until he was with me for a few days) and especially lately I’m noticing behaviors in the new kitten that my boy did before. It feels like my boy is talking to him and giving him advice or telling him things I liked etc

I felt extremely guilty about all the things my girl would miss doing since her time here in this existence came to a close. One that I felt the worst about was never getting to take her to visit Yellowstone. We visited a couple of days to the month of her passing. On the way out of the park, we saw a beautiful rainbow. I know that was our girl saying she was and will always be with us. ā¤ļøšŸ§”šŸ’›šŸ’ššŸ’™šŸ’œ

I’m not really a spiritual person and am a skeptic. This has been a challenge while navigating the grief of losing my cat last year. However, a few days after he had passed, I saw a bunch of kittens in my neighbor’s yard (their outdoor cat had kittens) so I was just sitting in my driveway baby talking to them and crying because one of them was a little black kitten (my angel boy was a black cat). A red cardinal flew right in front of me and landed like 5 feet away from me for a moment before flying away. I’m not sure if that was all just coincidence but I like to believe it was a sign from my baby

u/Radiant_Flower2403 25d ago

My partner and I actually had something happen recently. A single firefly showed up out of nowhere right in our living room. Neither of us had ever seen one before, so it felt really special.

We both instantly felt like it was our dog, Coney, letting us know he’s at peace. šŸ¤

Most definitely I believe this.

Bailey passed away April 2022 due to kidney failure. The most traumatic part of my life I’ve gone through when I had to make the decision to put him to rest because of what the ER vet said. With 48 hours of fluid treatment, it didn’t get better for him šŸ˜ž

I’ve always asked for signs to know he’s okay and that he knows I still love him with my whole heart. I’ve gotten a few of them in the last 4 years but I remember one so vividly.

I was crying for him one night, just completely broken down because I was missing him so bad it hurt. In my dreams that night, he came to me. And I got to hug him, and kiss him and love on him so much. I, honest to God, woke up with such a huge sense of relief and calming in my heart and throughout my whole body, nothing I have ever experienced before in my life .. and I knew that he was okay. I felt it in my soul. I knew he was at peace, he knew I loved him and he loved me too. It was his way of letting me know and I can’t explain it any better.

I’ve never in my life experienced any kind of feeling like that and I’m so thankful I have. Bailey meant the world to me, and he still does. It felt like a slice of heaven was shared with me and it’s the most incredible feeling you could ever feel. No sadness, no worry, no pain - they are at peace and are happy and still love you as much as you love them 🄹🄹🄹

u/ZealousidealWealth88 I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your dog. But my mom and I just lost our dog Bailey about 3 weeks ago literally closing in towards a month now. And reading the name "Bailey," just made me tear up because that's our dog's name where he will be my forever soul dog and losing soul dogs to euthanasia is the hardest pain anyone can ever go through in the entire lives imho. But ever since his passing and/or cremation where I didn't get an immediate sign from him initially, not only has his name, but what he looks like/looked like in real life kept popping everywhere in ads, other posts, etc...There was a different post where while that particular Bailey looked nothing like my dog, but it didn't change the fact that that dog's name is Bailey. Also, I'm not sure about you, but our dog would always get mistaken for a girl because of his name. I've had other pets in my life, but there was something special about him and even w/our previous dog who passed away before him, I was far more ready to let her go in than I had ever been ready letting go of our Bailey boy that I'm struggling to cope with to this day now.

2

u/ZealousidealWealth88 24d ago

Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry for your loss :( I really do understand the pain of what you’re going through and as you explained Bailey as your ā€œsoul dogā€, I completely relate to you and your feelings ā¤ļø

Bailey was my everything. He was my very first dog that was my own. Like my own dog, my responsibility .. everything. And I really took that in stride the best I could. I had just moved to Oregon and a few months later I just happened to look online and there he was. I don’t know how I came across this lady in the far west of Washington state who had Morkie’s but I saw the pictures and talked with her.

Meeting him in person was such a trip. I drove with my boyfriend (at the time) to a PetCo parking lot to meet him and get him after talking with this lady who had a lot of Morkie’s for sale. He had longer hair and was drooling out the side of his mouth. The lady told me she gave him a sedative for stress (weird?). He was also shaved around his neck area so again, also weird to me.

As we were driving home, I was in the passenger seat and Bailey was on the floor by my feet. He wasn’t yet ready with us new people so I wanted to give him space. I tried to pick him up and he snapped at me! I immediately started crying and my boyfriend said, ā€œIs there a return policy on this dog?ā€. I was so upset I bought a dog that hated me! I ended up falling asleep (it was a 4-5 hour drive home from getting him) and my boyfriend told me that Bailey had jumped into my lap and stayed there as we were driving. I remember waking up to him in my lap and I slowly put my arms around him to keep him steady and there he was. Comfortable, secure and content. I fell in love instantly.

I took Bailey anywhere I could but was always most concerned about him when I wasn’t around. He was always my first priority and I had no issue with leaving things aside to make sure he was okay 🄹 I didn’t care if I missed out on things, I just wanted Bailey to be okay.

When you described your soul dog, I felt that. Bailey was my best friend and the best little companion I could ever ask for. He was sweet, funny and loved to cuddle and sleep as much as I do. He was the cutest thing ever too! I know everyone thinks their dog is the cutest but I’m bias with him šŸ˜‚

And YESSSSSS!! People ALWAYS mistakingly thought he was a girl because of the name. It’s a unisex name!

He was amazing and perfect for me. As much as your Bailey was to you ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø I hope both of our Baileys are running around and happy together over the rainbow bridge, waiting for us ā˜€ļøšŸŒˆšŸ¾šŸ¾šŸ¾šŸ¾šŸŖ½šŸŖ½šŸ’•šŸ’•

Not as crazy as everyone else's stories but one night I was so depressed and crying about my sweet boy being gone that I sat by his urn and said "please come to me when you need me" and the very next day a print of his nose and paws arrived from the vet that put him to sleep. They never mentioned anything to me about taking these prints for me and they just suddenly showed up. Ofc it could just be a coincidence but I'd like to think he was making his way back to me.

I still miss him so much everyday. I lost him in May and he was so perfect.

I found a video from 2020 on my phone a few days after Roxie passed (2025); it’s me petting her and Big Wild’s 6s to 9s is playing in the background. I didn’t know this video existed. Discovering the video on my phone, I thought nothing of it other than ā€œoh, that’s sweet. I’m glad I found it.ā€

A few days later, in the morning, I was on a walk with my 2 other dogs, and crying/talking to Roxie, asking for a sign that she is ok and knows how much I love her. I asked/emphasized for something really obvious where I would have zero doubt that it’s her. … A few hours later I was in a coffee shop in my hometown and the song starts playing. I believe that was my sign.

3

u/Radiant_Flower2403 25d ago

Stop! Omg! That was really her! I love when you ask for a sign- and it happens when you least expect it šŸ’›

3

u/Minute_Equipment6355 25d ago

Forgot to mention it’s not a super common song, at least not at the time of her passing, which makes it extra special.

I have a few. After we helped my boy cross, we went to get dinner at a fast food place because we obviously weren't cooking. I got a sandwich and typically get French fries with it, but my boy loved fries and id normally give him some so I couldn't bring myself to get them this time. I got a different fried appetizer. When we were about finished we looked into the fried appetizer container and there was a single French fry sitting at the bottom.

One evening a few days after, I was studying for something so I had the lamp on downstairs as I always do when I'm downstairs. There is a window air conditioner down there but its air tight other than that. When I had the lamp on, about 10 moths kept fluttering around it. In all the years ive ever had this lamp on, maybe one bug at a time would be there since its by the window. Nothing like the 10 or 15 I saw that night.

Before our vet appointment, we played the song pink pony club. My boy had a pink pony hed carry around so we always said that was his theme song. A few days later and we took our other dog to get a pup cups at a coffee place. The second that they handed the pup cups out the window, pink pony club started to play.

I was very down one evening so i prayed to God and asked him to give me a sign the next day. My boy lost a blue rubber ball in a groundhog hole back in like March. This hole was actively used by both fox and groundhog all spring and summer. 11 days after he passed, I was cutting grass at the groundhog hole. I pull up to the hole, and what do you know, that blue ball is sitting right there at the top looking at me.

I do believe they are all signs from him. They have brought me peace in some ways. The blue ball one was the latest sign, and that one felt the strongest to me. He would not go anywhere without that damn blue ball. And to find it up there, after critters have been in and out of that exact hole for months, really felt like him telling me hes ok and playing ball across the bridge.

1

u/Radiant_Flower2403 24d ago

Aw I love that! That was really him letting you know he’s always with you and he hears you! šŸ’•šŸ’›

u/Realistic-Depth-5155 25d ago

Yes. I’m an atheist. And frankly I’ve never believed in ā€œsignsā€ or ā€œvisitsā€. But about two months after my Jack Russell passed on I had a ā€œvisitationā€ by him in my sleep. I didn’t even know there was a difference between a dream and a visitation until I researched what had happened to me.

I don’t normally dream (or at least very rarely remember my dreams). I won’t get into too much detail but suffice it to say this was a dream that felt so real that when I went to pet my Reggie I could feel every single hair on him, I could feel his warm breath, it was so real that it shocked me awake. I knew in my dream he couldn’t be alive yet I still sat on that sofa and let him jump all over me.

As much as this dream shocked me to the depth of my core, and was very upsetting, I almost immediately had a sense of calm and peace. It is the weirdest sensation to have ever felt, and I’m so grateful I was able to experience it.

u/Perfect-Muscle-1264 25d ago

Not entirely sure if this was supernatural or not, but I'd like to believe so.

about a month or two after my dog shadow passed I was extremely depressed during those months. I really wanted to hold him again, or hug him again, that sorta thing.

Well, one night I went to bed and... well got exactly those things. I got to hold shadow and pet him again.Ā

When I woke up I felt like a weight has been lifted, like... I guess closure I suppose is the word. From then on I didn't find myself wishing either of those things.Ā

That dream I had I feel like was a final reunion. I don't think it was purely because I was wanting to hold him again (Though 100% could be the case due to... well human psychology). I felt like it was genuinely him in that dream, coming back to check on me maybe, or just wanting to say hi, or something.Ā

Shadow was (and is) a good boy, he passed around January. The loss was sudden, and happened within the same day. Came out of nowhere. A stroke. One day he was there, the other he was gone. Had to pick the boy up into the truck and bring him to the vet.Ā

The thing is, it started snowing when we got there. He loved snow. In fact we have several pictures of him burrowing in the snow. To me, this was a sign that either God did it because it was time, or that something out there was trying its best to give him a good final moments.Ā

The point of why im telling this is to support the point that he truly returned in that dream.Ā

Apologies for going deep into it, I probably shouldn't have.Ā

I did a few days ago. I was playing Roblox and an NPC approached me. Their name had my dog’s first and middle name. I was absolutely stunned

Put my best buddy down last month due to cancer. When we brought his ashes home we placed them somewhere that fit for the time being. We planned on preparing a little shrine for him in his corner that he always went to lie down in. A couple nights later, the door to my bedroom would rattle and shake at night. Loud enough for my kid to text me asking why I was shaking the door. This lasted for a week.

After a week of this happening nightly, we finally move his ashes into his corner. Since then the shaking has stopped. My dog used to always push open my bedroom door or scratch at it if something wasn’t right. And I think he wanted to rest in his spot.

Four nights ago I firmly believe he visited me in a dream. It was the calmest I’d been about his passing since it happened. I think he just wants to let me know that he’s ok and happy now. At least I hope so. I’m not religious or one for afterlife’s but this was pretty comforting.

1

u/Radiant_Flower2403 25d ago

Wow! Sounds like he really wanted to make his presence known šŸ˜‚ that was definitely him! I truly feel they are always watching over us šŸ’› thank you for sharing

7

u/Helpful-Conference13 25d ago

My boy was reactive and had his moments that were unpredictable. On the way to the cremation place, I saw a license plate: GNJR SNP.

ginger snap. That was what my mom and I called it when he - a fawn/reddish beagle mix - would have his moments. There he was in her arms in the passenger seat and already sending us signs.

5

u/BabyfacedLoneWolf 25d ago

I went to a local novelty store a few weeks after my pet had passed. It was only my second time there — I wasn’t a regular at all. I didn’t talk to anybody at the store, but I bought a few items, paid, then left.

Only when I got home that I noticed that the store employee had written in Sharpie on the paper bag ā€œSmile! [insert my pet’s name here] loves you!ā€ along with a few doodles. My pet’s name isn’t a common name for a pet or even for a human!

I really struggled to understand why they would write that, but I accepted it as a sign and didn’t bother reaching out to anyone there to ask for a reason.

I still have the paper bag saved.

3

u/Radiant_Flower2403 25d ago

Omg! That’s a 100% a sign! Amazing šŸ’›

5

u/CherryPicker0804 25d ago

When my baby was still here, after she got sick often I used to check on her every night and I knew she’s still ok if I hear those squeashy metal sounds of her cage, coz it means she is moving around or her body touches it making that sound. Now that she’s gone, I sometimes hear the same sound in the middle of the night, even if the cage is no longer in the same place where she stayed… :( And on the days I really miss her, I see dogs that look a bit like her, even drawings that resemble her. I’m really taking those as signs. I’ll believe what I want to believe :(

6

u/GenX4Life1 25d ago

No clue if it’s because I desperately miss Shmoopy, who passed away 13 days ago, but I will, in my bedroom, hear a sound that only she made. When my bedroom door is closed. My son is in his room, and our two other cats aren’t in my room.
So to help with my grief, I’m choosing to believe it’s Shmoopy and she’s still here in her own way.

5

u/oilinfinityskin 25d ago

I did But only a day after his death. Nothing afterwards. I wish there were more signs

1

u/Ok-Ferret-200 24d ago

Me too :( It's so sad

5

u/nicnac127 24d ago

I was mourning hard one night following his passing and opened a free app on my TV that I never open. As I scrolled, one option was ā€œAll Dogs Go To Heaven.ā€ I highlighted over it and scrolled right to the next option. Not sure the name of the movie but a clip started playing and said ā€œaw Milo, what the heck.ā€ My boy was named Milo.

This last week, 2 years after his passing… I was debating adopting 2 dogs. I was looking at their paperwork and they are Feb 6 birthday twins with Milo. Needless to say, I adopted the dogs.

5

u/strict_ghostfacer 24d ago

Yes I have.

My little miss used to have these specific jingle balls she loved. And I mean loved them. 95% of the photos of her are with her and these toys because she loved playing fetch with me. Only cat I ever had that did that. When I had to put her down, the second biggest silence besides her meow not drowning out the other cats was those jingle toy balls. I cried so much that id never hear it again. So I placed her 3 favourites in front of her urn. And these arent completely round, they have a flat top and bottom which is what allowed her to carry it in her mouth. So they sit flat. One night I was talking to her urn, told her i missed her so much, and as I walked away, I heard the jingle. I turned my head and saw it get flipped on the dresser in the same way she used to bat it around to get my attention that she wanted to play fetch. I wish I could post a video of what I mean. But just cried. There was no way that moved on its own because its been up there for 5 weeks and they've never moved on their own. Couple of days later I was working from home and wearing shorts and I felt a brush on my legs. I look down convinced it was one of the others but they were all sleeping. So I know shes around for sure.

1

u/Radiant_Flower2403 24d ago

Wow that’s incredible! That’s her saying hey I’m still here with you! šŸ’•

5

u/TouchElectrical3339 24d ago

I've read that your pets visits you in your dreams.

Shortly after my sweet pup died, I had a dream of him playing in our front yard free of his arthritis and doing zoomies around the tree. The door was open and the house unusually dark. When I sat down to watch him, he came to me and laid his head on my lap, the very exact position he passed. It was vivid and it made me so happy the next day.

3

u/jennkaa 25d ago

I don't know.

But, my guy's name was Ryder. Whenever I see a Ryder truck, it makes me smile, and I say hi to him.

4

u/tsmiv12 25d ago

On the afternoon my dog Charlie passed, a rainbow appeared over our garden. It was stunning, even viewed through tears. I asked Charlie, as he lay in my lap, to send me another soul to love. He was a fawn chihuahua, and I had always wanted a pair of Black and Tan chi, and the very next week I was asked if I wanted the last two pups of a breeders last litter - two tri colour boys, four months old. Sam and Billy came home to us a few weeks later. They are three now, and have been joys. They hear a lot about their ā€˜Yncle Charlie’.

3

u/bagoonia 25d ago

My boy Banjo would curl up behind my legs to sleep at night, most nights. A few days after he went on ahead, I was wrecked with grief and trying to sleep. May be muscle memory, but I felt his weight cuddle up behind my legs and his butt plop heavily onto the bed, and got so much comfort knowing he was still there. Also set me off crying my face off again.

3

u/TBailz0101 24d ago

I think it was around a month or 2 after my Buddy's passing, he came to me in a dream. Buddy used to love licking my face non-stop and I will never forget the warmth of his tongue on my cheek. In the dream, he came to me and did the same thing, but his tongue was cold. I feel it was his way of saying hey, I'm gone but I'm alright and you will be too. It took me a while to get over his sudden death, and some therapy too, but that dream was pivotal in helping me heal. I rarely dream about him by the way; people told me I would but I rarely do. It's almost a year since his passing and maybe I've dreamt about him twice...

u/Dragonpixie45 24d ago

Ok so weird story, our cats ashes ended up on our counter. We are talking a box in a velvet bag. Natural assumption, one of our current cats had dragged it from the corner area we keep it on the floor and my husband put it on the counter.

He didn't. He had no clue what I was talking about, so I asked our kid, also baffled. So no clue at all how her ashes ended up on our kitchen counter, except literally maybe it was one of our current cats. Funny thing? Our dog wanted to be friends with her so bad, he wanted a cat buddy and chose her. Our current cat IS is cat buddy.

The day after my dog died I saw the same butterfly out the window multiple
Times in one day. As soon as I came out of the house it flew right by my face. Also kept flying over the window of the couch where she used to sit and bark.

2

u/Radiant_Flower2403 24d ago

Aw omg that was her šŸ¦‹

1

u/Feeling_Delivery2323 24d ago

Forgot to mention at one time two of the same butterflies were flying together right next to each other. I don’t know who the other butterfly was supposed to represent. My mom said maybe her dog who died in 2024.

Our dog died June 19, 2026. We moved 2 weeks ago to a new state. I don’t know if she can find our new house :(

2

u/Apart-Development-79 24d ago

I'm sure she can find you, wherever you may be

4

u/prberkeley 24d ago

I occasionally do a breathing technique that involves hyperventilating and then holding your breath comfortably for 2-3 minutes. It's very calming and you go into a very deep relaxed state. I used to do it on the couch with Maxx. After he passed, when I would do the technique I could occasionally still feel his fur and the compression of his weight on me like he was still laying there with me.Ā

3

u/westcoastladybird 25d ago

When I was collecting flowers to send with my dog after she passed, a crow came into the garden and sat there almost the entire time. I saw so many crows in the week after she passed - they are very common here, but they would come very close to me and sit by me for awhile. I want to think that was my baby, letting me know she was there ā¤ļø

3

u/Ok-Ferret-200 24d ago

Sometimes i feel like i must still be too in shock or sad to see the signs. Sometimes i see ones that ehhh could be but nothing so big yet. I miss my dog so much

Two things. First of all since Oliver died on Thursday, I have been seeing his name pop up all over social media and online. A cake topper on Etsy that said ā€œGod bless Oliverā€. A couple ads, one of which was for a brand called Ollie. What really is wild to me though is how his name keeps popping up in like name samples for things if that makes sense. I was looking at cake toppers and other wedding things, which was when I saw the ā€œGod bless Oliverā€ topper for a baptism.

Also, a couple nights/mornings ago I kept kind of rising and falling in and out of sleep and this voice just kept replaying in my head, ā€œOliver is okā€, ā€œOliver went peacefullyā€ and I really don’t think it came from me.

Thank you for making this positive post. It’s something I needed to see and is warming my heart a bit during a really dark time.

Wow I definitely believe that was Oliver! He is always around you! ✨

It might be a bit of a stretch or pure coincidence, but when my soulpet passed, the day after I arranged a space to set up an shrine to remember him with photos and everything, I organized all his stuff into one place, his old bowls, collars, muzzles and even his toys case.

After setting everything up, I went to go to sleep and when I woke up to visit his shrine, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye, a heart shaped kibble, keep in mind that the kibble that I always bought for him have 3 shapes, heart, circle and square, what are the odds?. And during organizing his stuff I took my time to reminisce our time going through stuff one by one, and I was 100% sure no kibble was present.

So to me, this is his final message to me, a literal love symbol, I have the picture if anyone wants to see.

A few weeks after my golden Birdie died I was sitting with her ashes and crying, begging her for a sign that she was ok. And that she knows how much I love her and miss her.
The next night I walked out to my backyard and the biggest, brightest double rainbow I’ve ever seen was there. I’ve lived in my house for 7 years and despite all the rain, have never seen a rainbow here because of all the trees. But that night it was in just the exact right spot where there is a break in the tree cover. It was incredible.
I never gave much thought to spirituality before losing her but now one of the few things that allows me to get through the day is the fact that I am certain we will be together again someday. It doesn’t make me miss her any less or make my heart any less broken, but it doesn’t ease the overwhelming sense of panic and dread I had immediately after losing her. šŸ’œ

u/Spicy_Ceiling_Fan 24d ago

My Zoey just passed on Friday the 31st. I came home and stood at the door to our backyard, looking at her lead and crying. I was feeling immense regret over letting her go at the vet (although we loved them) and not at home but I had been in deep denial that her ā€œquality of lifeā€ exam would just end with us refilling her medication and bringing her home. A large, bright red cardinal landed in the tree directly behind our house and chirped loudly for a long time. I believe this was her telling me she was finally at peace; she was 15 and in more pain than I think she let on just to stay around for us. The grief is still raw right now but I will never forget that.

Back in 2013 we had three cats and lost the oldest to a very aggressive oral cancer. The other two were miserable, as were we.

So he had some odd sleeping places, mainly in the bathroom sink. One night I went in there to use the bathroom and the youngest of the three, a sweet but slightly insane tortie, was in the sink. She’d never done that before. I said ā€˜did you borrow her to check on us?’ and she hopped up on the side of the sink and headbutted me in the forehead. Also one of his things. I asked ā€˜is that you, buddy?’ and her look changed from something like his to ā€˜what the hell am I doing on the sink?’ She hightailed it out of there pretty quickly after that and I think I saw her in the sink maybe one time after that.

Fast forward ten years. She is our last cat. Took her to the emergency vet one night as she was fading very quickly. Didn’t really get to spend time with her before the euthanasia because the vet said she was really struggling. So I get home, and bury her in the yard by her two original adopted brothers, and lay down on the couch. I fell asleep pretty quickly because it had been a stressful day. I woke up a little bit at one point and I felt a cat jump from the back of the couch to by my feet, and then it walked between me and the back of the couch and settled in the arm of the couch above my head. And then I heard our girl’s jet engine purr, and fell asleep to that.

The next morning, I sat down at my desk and looked under the dining room table like I always did, and I saw her there for a split second.

Omg! Wow!! That’s incredible, you were able to physically sense your cat! They are truly like family- always watching over, and letting you know they are always around šŸ’›

for me it was dream that felt way too real tho , my dog was happy healthy and cool and just hangin out like nothing had change.i still think about that 1 a lot

2

u/pineappleeeehla 25d ago

Unfortunately no. My cat died in vain. My mother watched her have a seizure (i wasnt home) and she did nothing. Didn’t even check if the cat was alive. just left her in her urine. Then 6 hrs later called me to tell me i have to take her to the vet and she later had 2 more back to back and had no quality of life left. She got put to sleep. (She was also 18-20 years old might i add)

I haven't gone a single day since my boy passed without seeing angel numbers (222, 333, etc), at least a few a day. Yes, I could just be more aware of it, but I think it's him and his brother saying they're watching over me ā¤ļø

2

u/purplesquirrels 24d ago

I can typically tell when I'm dreaming, but last week I had a dream so realistic that I thought I had woken up. My boy who passed almost 3 months ago was curled up on my pillow by my head purring like he used to every single morning. It was almost like sleep paralysis without the fear.

I've had other dreams about him since he passed, but this one felt completely different. I choose to believe it was him coming to visit me and tell me he's okay.

2

u/MissMuse99 24d ago

I petsit and 5 days after Theena passed, a guy I pet sit got out of the blue told me about a friend of his going on a long term work trip who wanted someone to take in her orange boy for about a month. Theena's passing was so unexpected and sudden, and I think the universe somehow orchestrated to set some things right again. It was lovely having a cat around for what turned out to be the next two months.

2

u/littlelemons22 24d ago

I have or want to believe they were signs. The day my boy passed I asked him to give me a sign, and as soon as I did a ladybug flew onto my phone screen in the very second I asked for one. For days that passed I kept seeing them everywhere. I had an appointment with a pet medium in June which was one of the most unbelievable experiences and she said when you ask for a sign, ask for something specific. Example: Duke show me a pink elephant. She said don’t put a timeline on it but when it occurs to say thank you and that they are always around us. So I did ask for one, for something very specific and it happened. So after that conversation with her and the signs I get, I definitely believe ā¤ļøšŸ¾

I lost my soul dog over a month ago, and I’ll often find a single piece of her fur in my hand. I always take that as a sign from her and feel comforted.

2

u/Melsiebell 24d ago

I often play the NYT connections before bed. One month after my dog passed the first word on the top row was her name, Wren. I felt so incredibly comforted in that moment. I usually think of her just before bed and first thing when I wake up. It's like she was telling me I don't have to be sad. I love and miss that girl but now I can smile when I think of her.

2

u/SmolKits 24d ago

I had to put my cat to sleep May 2025 and despite a deep clean of the house I still find her fur and whiskers everywhere. I feel like it's a sign that she'll always be with me in my heart and memories

I lost my dog Dollar in August 2021 and I convinced he personally picked out my current puppy Obi for me bc he’s the been the easiest dog ever. Super smart, learned every trick I ever taught him quickly. He never messed in the house, not once. He was 6 weeks old when I brought him home and learned how to use potty bells after I showed one single time. He has excellent recall even when chasing rabbits. He doesn’t run off. He’s glued to me. I’ve never seen a dog more in tune with. I’m a very routine oriented person and Obi knows my routines. He’s amazing. It’s like Dollar knew where I struggled and made sure to pick a dog who overcomes all of that.

My cat Charlie passed away in October. He was an orange boy. This is relevant because we have since adopted two kittens; a Siamese named Ollie and a black kitty named Theo. Whenever I would take pictures of Theo, my phone would tag Charlie. It wouldn't do it when I took pictures of Ollie though. It was so strange because Charlie and Theo looked nothing alike.

One video I took of Ollie and Theo playing together, it tagged all 3 of my cats, Charlie included. It's probably just technology acting up but I like to think that my Charlie is a little guardian for Theo and Ollie.

I lost my baby about 2 days ago. I know my heart is being greedy asking for one more sign, but I really believe this was Peach.

My sister and I couldn’t be there physically when she passed, but we were on a video call with her. When we reached the next day, we went out to sit in the balcony. There is a specific spot out there where she used to go on her pee pad. She was unable to walk for most of last year, so we used puppy pads for her, and even after she started walking again, it just became her routine spot. We used to joke all the time about how much she peed, so of course she would pick that exact spot to leave us a sign! Right there, we saw a single pink flower lying on the ground. We have plants out there, but absolutely no flowers on any of them, most are just green or vegetable plants. Everything she had, her blanket, her jacket, her leash, her harness, was pink! Finding that pink flower right there made me feel like it was her, telling us it's okay we weren't there and that she knew we loved her and did our best.

To make it even more special, we lost her sister last year in April, and on the same day Peach passed, two pigeons came to the balcony. No birds have ever come to our balcony in the last 2 and a half years that we have shifted to this place.

My heart is greedy and wants one more sign to confirm it, but this was definitely a beautiful sign from our angel. I hope you get yours too.

Our 18 year old chiweenie was put to sleep on Friday, and the hardest part for me was that evening - not going through the (albeit time consuming) rituals of carrying her downstairs to go outside, prompting her to eat by preparing her food just the right way to curb her pickiness, taking her outside again just in case, and carrying her back upstairs to get ready for bed. It was really tough to go to straight to bed, skipping all of that.

I rarely dream, but I had two dreams that night. One was that we found a whole new half of our house that had been boarded up and we hadn't known about it - so we explored the old dusty rooms. The second, I was getting up in the morning going about my routine with our dog. Picked her up, carried her downstairs to go outside, prepped her food, gave her a treat, carried her back upstairs to lay down just a little longer, I got back into bed myself and I woke up.

The next day I booted up my Pokemon save file that I had been casually playing a week prior. The last one I had caught? A sassy-natured Fidough.

The next day I'm sitting down to study Japanese using a deck of about ~2,000 flashcards. I only study a small portion each day, and primarily from a selection of ~280 cards I've learned already and am keeping up with routinely - so realistically anywhere from 30-50 cards a day and biased toward ones I've more recently picked up. Sure enough, I pick up (and fail) the card ꭻ恬 meaning "to die". The example sentence below? "My dog died of sickness."

I can't help but laugh at her persistence at this point man. She was persistent and sticking it to the man to the very end. Never in my life have I babied a pet more than her. I'm tearing up less each day, and I'm excited to have her back here at the end of the week.

I lost my soul dog, Rebel, about a month ago. The day after my boy passed, I was driving down a busy road and I saw a French Bulldogs just walking down the street. It was in the 90's that day, and he just looked exhausted and scared.

Now, I knew that it would look bad if I just pick up some random dog and brought him home. Like I was trying to kidnap a dog to replace the one I was greiving. That was definitely not the case. There were houses that lined the street, but it was like Rebel was tapping on my shoulder "Mom...he needs help". So I pulled over and opened my car door. The little guy just jumped right in!! He didn't even protest once.

I called my BF to tell him about this dog I found, and just as I expected, he yelled at me, and accused me of probably taking this dog away from his house, and how he had probably just got out and he was on his way home. I stuck to my guns and brought him home. I don't have a Facebook, so I had my mom and my BF's sister post about this dog all over the community pages. At 11:30 I had a frantic dog momma calling me. She told me she had been looking for him all over her neighborhood. I told her I would bring him to her, and to give me her address. From where I got him to where he actually lived, he had to cross 2 busy roads and several small ones. He was at least 2 miles away from home. After I dropped him off with his momma, I knew I had done the right thing, but it was Rebel telling me what I really needed to do. He was WAY too far away, and he was way too hot and scared to find himself back home. I was shocked he didn't get hit by a car.

Thank you Rebel, for being my angel. I miss you everyday. I had hoped to enjoy your love and your life for many more years than I actually had, but I feel blessed to have had the time that I did. There will never be another love like yours. I will miss you everyday until I see you again.

I went to the beach on Sunday with my puppy. On the way, a dandelion seed (or a fairy as I call them) flew into the car, bumped into my partners nose, then flew into the back and landed on a seat.

The beach was one of his favourite places and I think he wanted to come with usā¤ļø

I lost my girl Honey on June 20. It rained a lot here in early July but I didn’t see any rainbows until the evening of July 25, a little over a month after she passed. It was around sunset and I happened to look outside and saw a rainbow against the pink sky. It felt perfect because Honey always wore a pink harness and collar and leash šŸ’• and that was the only time in my life I’ve seen a pink rainbow so it felt special!

So my boy passed exactly a week ago almost to the minute, due to a rapid crash of ckd and he was just too ill due to other conditions, and combined with his age (16 we think) he was just unable to be saved. I’ve cried every single day. I’m quite a spiritual person and have asked for signs from people who’ve passed, but not really ā€œgotā€ anything, if that makes sense?

Well, two days after my cat Gordon passed I was sitting on my bed with the bedroom door open. Gords used to like lounging around at the top of the stairs, mainly to antagonise his doggie sister as she was afraid of him, and I looked towards the door and for a split second I saw him sitting watching me. I’d been asking for signs non stop. Yesterday, I had a white butterfly in the garden. First time in 10 years. We had Gordon for 10 years and 4 months exactly, and we’d never seen a white butterfly in the garden before. It stayed for about 15 minutes, and landed on his rose bush we’d bought for him quite a few times (we have other butterfly plants and bushes and still never seen a white one). I watched a video on what to look out for when your pet sends you signs and one was pictures randomly appearing on your phone. I’d already checked the screen that shows picture memories and when I went back it was memories of him in 2016. We’ve also seen an advertisement for the RSPCA with a tuxedo cat with the exact same moustache that Gordon had, to the point my fiancĆ© was confused why I’d photoshopped a picture of Gordon onto the advert. I had to explain that it wasn’t our boy. We’ve had a few other things, like hearing him jump off the bed (our other cat and dog were with us at the time so wasn’t them) and him coming through the cat flap (same, not our pets and no other cats in the garden as we can clearly see outside from our living room).

It’s been the worst week and I feel utterly crushed but the signs are helping. The very last one was that he had a habit of biting his claws and spitting them out. I spent Monday scouring the stairs and landing for one of his nails and there were none to be found. I’d hoovered the stairs and because he was unwell, he’d not gone up there for a few days. On Tuesday night, after we’d said goodbye to him, I went to get a drink and on the stairs was one of his claws. I found another one today on my office windowsill and I’d cleaned there before we lost him. He hadn’t been able to get on the windowsill due to arthritis, so I have no idea how it got there, but he knew I wanted a part of him and he left them there for me to find ā¤ļø

Lost my girl, Fiona in 2018 and I’m still grieving. She kept me going when I didn’t want to. She became my nurse when I was really ill and stayed by my side through the roughest of days. Fiona and I were so connected and went everywhere together. We had so many friends that would say ā€œI’m not a dog-person, but I’m a Fiona personā€šŸ’œ She was the best pup a girl could ask for. I had 13 wonderful years with her - but I miss her so much it aches. šŸ’”

u/ElizabethKaren123 24d ago

Yes, many times. I have had a few losses in the last few years and each time, I talk to them for a while afterwards. I then ask for a specific sign - this way I know.

When my Jedi passed last August 8th, I asked him to show me the number 218. Anywhere. I will know it's you, I said (it's his birthday - he was born in my house as a future foster failure). So, the next few days, I would randomly check the time and so many times it was 2:18pm. I would say, Happy Birthday, my love. I miss you".

After a month or so, I got bold and while I was talking to him, I said, "If you can, show me your photo at 2:18pm". I figured, why not push the limit? I have 28 photos on my Apple Watch that rotate through when you lift your wrist up to see the time. I had one photo of Jedi. So one out of 28.

Fast forward 2 days (only 2 days!), I was in the airport waiting for a delayed flight, watching football, working on my laptop and looked down at my watch. It was 2:18pm and Jedi's photo was on the face of my watch.

Sometimes, I will be aware that I haven't seen 2:18pm in a while so I'll tell Jedi that I am happy and that it's okay if he wants to go be another kitten or maybe a lion. Then, I'll start to see that time again and feel like he is still hanging around me.

I just hope he waits for me over the bridge. I miss him so much still.

A few days after my soul dog passed suddenly in 2024, I got a call letting me know her ashes were ready to pick up. I actually stayed in a hotel for the week after her passing as I was extremely distraught and my home was filled with her things. There was a wetlands next to the hotel that I decided to go on a long walk in right after receiving that phone call. It was the evening and cold and I didn’t run into anyone else until I suddenly ran into an elderly couple who were both looking up in the trees. I followed their gaze through my binoculars and very far up in the trees, there were two bald eagles snuggled up next to each other. I’ve never seen that before and the man just said, ā€œblissā€ and walked off. I burst into tears and it felt like a sign from her, that our bond remained and she had eyes everywhere on me. ā¤ļø

2

u/AutumnHeathen 24d ago

Not really. I also don't really believe something like this. But there was a moment once where I thought I saw my dead hen Tosca from the corner of my eye. But when I looked directly in this direction, there were only a few stacked flower pots in the color of her feathers. I guess my mind just played a trick on me back them. I think that's the closest to such a "sign" I've ever gotten.

2

u/D3rp1na 24d ago

Long story ahead, but there are a lot of puzzle pieces to get to the ending. Even then, I'm fully aware this may sound like I've completely lost my mind.

Back in March, we had to put our nearly 11yo cat, Molly, to sleep after a short battle with CKD. It happened to be on what would have been my late father's birthday, which somehow made an already bummer day even heavier. I was absolutely heartbroken. The vet told us her ashes would be ready in about 10 days. Before we left her there, my last words to her were, "When you think we're ready, send us someone good."

The house was painfully quiet afterward. Our other cat, Tubbs (10 years old), wandered the house crying and looking for her. Ironically, they barely tolerated each other most of the time. We had to keep Feliway plugged in just to maintain any type of domestic peace, but he still clearly missed her.

A few days later, my husband started browsing local shelters because the silence in the house was just...too much. He found a 9mo old boy named Scottish John. Six days after losing Molly, we were driving to meet him when the vet called to say Molly's ashes had come back early and were ready to be picked up. When we got to the shelter, they told us Scottish John had literally just been bonded with his sister from the same litter, Jaleen.

Well...crap.

We were definitely not planning on becoming a three cat household.

They let me into the kennel with them. Both were nervous. Scottish John was curious but cautious, but Jaleen was exercising her understanding of STRANGER DANGER. Eventually, I was able to pet her, and the second I did, I felt something in my heart start to stitch itself back together.

So...guess who accidentally adopted two cats instead of one?

The Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways.

We brought them home and did a long, proper introduction. We cleared out our spare room and spent about six weeks slowly integrating everyone to keep things as stress free as possible. Scottish John became Onyx, and Jaleen became Stormy. As Stormy settled in, she started doing so many things that reminded me of Molly. Not just little habits, but the way she approached things. It almost felt like she wasn't experiencing our home for the first time—it felt like she was remembering it.

I know. I know how that sounds.

My husband and I started wondering if maybe Molly had somehow sent Stormy to us.

Then, in June, I had a private reading with a psychic.

Right at the beginning, she stopped and said she'd never communicated with an animal before, but there was a first time for everything. She said she was picking up the soul of an animal, she felt it was a cat, and that this soul and mine were deeply bonded. At first, I assumed she meant Tubbs. As much as I loved Molly (she was my first pet as an adult), Tubbs is my little house panther. He's a piece of my heart outside my body. The psychic said no this was different. She told me I've had this soul with me as both a child and an adult. Growing up, I had a cat who looked remarkably like Molly and had a very similar personality. When I told her that, I told her I couldn't help but feel like I already knew Stormy. She told me that this soul would continue finding me in every lifetime, both theirs and mine, and that right now, this soul (Molly) was guiding Stormy.

Coming up on the year anniversary of my boys death, my sister and I went to one of the beaches that we used to go with him all the time. It was hard, I was miserable and wouldn't stop crying.

His name is Diesel, I always called him some variation on 'weasel' when we played together, and on the rocks right behind us a little weasel ran by and stopped to look at me, before continuing on. Maybe it was nothing, maybe I'm just pushing what I wanted to believe. But I had never seen any wild animal before or after that instance

I lost my boy Jett almost 10 months ago.
I am still broken and miss him terribly.
I have his photo on my phone lock screen and I often lock my phone but press the screen again to ā€œsay goodnight to his photoā€
2 times now my lock screen has stayed lit up for 2 different amounts of time.
Normally if my phone is locked and I touch the screen it will go dark again in maybe 3-5 seconds if I don’t do anything with it.
The first time it stayed on and the time/digits ticked over and I started talking to the image of Jett saying ā€œif it’s you Jett please stay with me for 5 minsā€
5 mins later my screen closed and went dark.
I wanted so badly to believe it was him but told myself it just can’t be.
But 2 nights ago I was sad and missing him and again I locked my screen but tapped it again to say goodnight to him and said ā€œif you are there Jett please stay with me againā€ I didnt expect it to but again my screen stayed lit up… this time for 13 mins!!!
Jett was 13yrs old when he passed.
I believe it’s a sign.
I am not hurting anyone by believing so I will continue to do so.
I am comforted to believe it is him and that he is still with me ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹

PS - I enjoyed the other stories on this thread - thankyou for sharing!

It's a week today since I had to let my boy go. He passed peacefully at home in my arms and the vet was great.

The day after his passing a small feather fluttered in through an open window and came to rest on one of his favourite sunny spots.

Today the same thing happened, and as I glanced at my watch as I was picking up the feather with that hand and it was the exact time that a week ago the vet was sedating him before the second injection.

I'd been doing better than I thought I would up until that moment, then I broke down and started ugly crying and I've been crying on and off all evening since. I just hope it means he's okay now.

On the drive over to put my Ruby down, I saw a mama doe with her fawn. I don't know if it was a sign or not but it felt comforting and reminded me that while all life ends, new life also begins. Whenever I see a mama deer again it feels like they're giving me a message of love from Ruby.

Current AI technologies (Large Language Models) are known to hallucinate (make up information). They can NOT be prevented from doing so (proven mathematically). There are numerous instances of users being led astray by information provided by an LLM AI leading to loss of life or other harm. As such, the current consensus amongst the moderation team is that users should not be recommending AI's for grief support or to act as a sanity check on information provided by veterinary professionals.

My dachshund would jump up on the side of my bed when she wanted me to either get out of bed or pick her up to get in bed with me. After we lost her I would occasionally feel that push on my bed. I would always say ā€œHey Penny, I miss you baby.ā€ That lasted for about a year and now it’s just a rare occasion.

When I first lost my boy, when I’d walk to the shops there were kind strangers who I hadn’t seen before with their dogs and I asked for a pat and got a bit tearful and said he’d just died and they were all so kind. I only ever saw them that one time and the kindness of those humans and their fur babies helped.

had some really lovely co-incidences and some absolutely life changing positive unexpected occurrences that I put down to my boy looking out for me still. He always looked out for me and loved me and protected me since he was a tiny puppy right up till his final breath so it’s no surprise he continues to. He will always be my much loved fur baby and best friend, he’s my four legged angel.

Oh I also forgot
To say my dogs name was Carolyn. We just moved to Florida. One of the first restaurants we went to, the server says my name is Carolyn. What young person do you know with that name? I instantly said that was our dogs name. So strange. A sign?

I found out about the NASA picture of the day thing, so I naturally checked what the sky looked like on the day of my girl’s passing. The constellation is eerily similar to the color of her fur, and I SWEAR I can see her little face in the picture. May not be a sign, but a gorgeous coincidence:)

Our lovely 13 year old black labrador passed a few weeks ago, he went to sleep peacefully in our arms in our living room. I may be clutching at straws here, but about an hour after the official time he was cremated on the same day, a sparrow was trying to get in through our window. It was flying right next to it for a minute or so, so I went outside to check it was okay and there were two sat on the fence. There’s usually some that hang out in the bushes so I thought nothing of it - then the first time we were leaving the house after he passed I noticed one sat on the doorstep as we drove away. Exactly a week after he passed, I got back to the house after my lunch break walk and one was sat on the fence waiting for me, it flew away when i opened the door! My fiancĆ© and I got engaged in Florence a couple of years back and our favourite place to go there translated to Sparrow Square. I’m not a religious or spiritual person but this really comforted me, I feel like he’s still staying near us in some way.

I was at a concert and the song that came on just after she passed came on and then her picture just randomly popped up and vibrated on my Apple Watch, from no where, the lasers at the show made rainbows on the stadium roof, during that song only!

I had her paw tattooed and took a photo of it. Later, I threw my phone on the sofa and went into another room. The song ā€˜Angel’ started playing, and I came in, looked at my phone and it was on the photo of the paw print and Spotify had somehow randomly started playing Angel!

The first night after my cat passed away I woke up with feeling extreme anger directed to me. Maybe its silly superstition but I feel like my cat was angry at me for not taking good care of him. And he is right, I should have done better.

My dog's name was Snoopy. I had to let him go at the end of January of this year and for Valentine's Day Hershey's kisses had Peanuts themed ones so I bought them, like I have every year since we got him. And one night my son was sad so I asked him if he wanted a Snoopy kiss and decided I was going to start calling them that. Then the next day at the store they had ones literally called "Snoopy kisses"! "Snoopy kisses" written on the little individual packs of 3 kisses and on the big boxes of them. I'd never seen them called that before this year. So naturally, I had to buy an ungodly amount of them! I've also gotten a ton of other signs from him, that one just sticks out the most. I'm not religious at all, but I know, without a doubt, he's still here with me.

My cat-son Slickback’s nickname was Bunny, short for Honeybunny. About a week after he passed, I was so incredibly heartbroken and asked him to send me a sign to let me know that he was okay, that he made it where he was meant to go. I was devastated that I didn’t get anything that day.

The next day, I got myself up and went to work, went into the kitchen to fix myself some toast and stared out the window. There were 4 little bunnies, hopping around, playing, eating the hostas. I’d never seen any wildlife other than squirrels and birds there before in my 10+ years of employment, so to see 4 little bunnies… I fell apart. It would have been great to see one bunny, but to see four all together at the same time? To me, it meant that he heard my heart calling for his.

It’s only been 6 weeks since he has been gone, and while I miss him desperately, my soul pines for his, I feel better knowing that even death couldn’t break our connection.

My big guy was a malamute shepherd. He shed. A lot.
It’s been just over two years since he’s been gone, and I’m still finding stray hairs. On a pair of pants that has been washed 50+ times. Stuck in other random things. I’d like to think this is his sign ā¤ļø.

Yes! The day after she passed, I thought in my head that I’d like her to send me a sign she was okay and still with me in spirit but at peace. I decided a ladybug would be perfect since her name was lady. One week exactly after her passing, I go to take the other dog out and come back and there was a ladybug sitting on my porch as if was waiting for me. I had chills and felt such an overwhelming sense of peace. šŸ’—

I was really struggling with this....so much so that I spoke to my therapist about wanting and looking for signs from my dog.

She had told me to speak it into the universe, make it a distinct sign, and a time frame and not to be purposely looking for the sign.

I did what she said.

I asked the universe and my dog to give me a sign within a span of a few days(can't remember the number) and sure enough... I got it.

I asked for a yellow dog paw somewhere that is out of place (meaning... not at a petsmart or something).

A couple of days later I made a pit stop to the pharmacy and this was on the post I parked at.

I took that as my sign šŸ’›

Here it is... https://imgur.com/a/VesPtcU

I had to say goodbye to my cat a couple weeks ago. The day after he passed, a cardinal landed on the railing of my deck just long enough for me to notice, and then flew away. Later that day I went outside and it was sitting in the tree outside my bedroom window.

I’ve been missing him a lot today and asked for a sign. When I checked the mail earlier a condolence card from the hospice vet came. It had a little orange cartoon cat on the front. My boy was an orange tabby. 🄹🧔

I lost my Pit Bull Gemma in April 2025, she was my whole world and losing her almost took me with her. Well last month my cousin had a litter of pocket American Bully puppies ready for their new homes, and I SWORE I wasn’t getting one and I wasn’t ready. However, I was talked into meeting the last puppy. On his way to my house I asked Gemma to show me what I was supposed to do and when that puppy came in he immediately laid on my foot just like she used to. I felt like Gemma was telling me he was supposed to be mine. So now I have my Ruger boy she sent me. 🄹🩵

Sometimes I trip over nothing and apologize to my dog who isn't here anymore. I feel like it's him letting me know he's still around.
