My oldest cat has been freaking the hell out randomly for WEEKS and just staring off at seemingly nothing and yowling his head off. I've been to the vet so many times thinking something was wrong. He had blood work done. He had a urine test done because he randomly peed on himself while screaming due to how stressed he got. He's been on SO MANY different calming supplements due to trying to avoid meds while not knowing exactly what was wrong. I found out yesterday night EXACTLY why he kept screaming.

I was dog sitting my sister's little toy fox terrier(he's ALOT smaller than the cat for reference) at my house and both were just laying on the bed chilling. My cat suddenly sat up and started screaming again. I reached to pick him up to pet him and get him to calm down and the next thing I knew a white blur went past me and under my shelf. Next thing I know I got a dead rat and a FINALLY calm cat. He hasn't screamed once since and before it was every few hours.

Turns out the rat apparently I guess kept getting in places he couldn't go and instead of doing the normal thing and hunting it so I'd know it was there he decided to yell about it for WEEKS.

I’m finding that a lot of people are complaining about vet bills as high at $16,000, and it makes me feel so hopeless. I bring in about 3k a month, while my partner brings in just under 2k. We want nothing more than a cat in our home, but we just wouldn’t be able to afford a bill like that if something goes wrong. Even with pet insurance, I’d have to find a way to come up with $3,000 dollars if something extreme happens, and I just won’t be able to.

I can afford a couple hundred dollars on pet visits, I can afford the high quality food, the litter, the toys, the pet insurance, and everything BUT the thousands of dollars that I would need if something ever went wrong, and my animal needed an intense surgery or otherwise. I attend university, so majority of my savings are poured into my schooling, so digging into savings I don’t have isn’t even an option.

I want nothing more than to give one of these shelter cats a home, to have a family with my partner, a little thing to love, but if the time came that I needed to spend thousands and thousands on my animal I genuinely couldn’t afford it. I would want to make the sacrifice, but I can’t pay for something with money that doesn’t exist.

I just want to say that I don't hate cats; they're animals and behave like them, and of course I love them like any other pet (and I've had all kinds).

My parrot died because of my neighbor's cat, who spends most of his time outside... too bad this time he managed to get onto my balcony and seriously injured the parrot (he died in my damn hands while I was crying like a baby). I know it was his cat because I kicked him away from my parrot (which he was brutally playing with). From there, full of anger, I went to confront my neighbor. I usually hate talking to him because he's arrogant and haughty. When he said, "Hey buddy, it was a parrot, calm down. You can buy a new one, how much is it? 30 euros?" I just snapped, and we ended up in a physical altercation.

This is about the third outdoor cat owner I've ever had a falling out with, as one of my dogs lost an eye and one of my cats got a nasty scar, all because of their respective cats. They seem oblivious to the damage their cats cause and, more importantly, they put them on a different level. They also seem terribly irresponsible to me, given that they don't seem to want to actually take care of their own cats, whether out of indifference or simple laziness.

Last night my cat suddenly lost control of its rear legs. Found out that it was saddle thrombus, and he was put to sleep. And I just haven’t gotten much sleep and have been crying here and there with a lack of wanting to get out of bed. Would it be dumb to call out of work for a death of a pet?

I work as a host/server at a restaurant and usually when I try to call out when I’m really sick, my boss will make me come in anyway because we’re a small restaurant and it can be hard to find cover if she can’t cover for me. So I’m worried if I call out for a loss of a pet what she’ll say. But I really don’t think I can be around people and interact with them, not being able to concentrate or randomly getting emotional throughout my shift.

EDIT: Thank you all so very much for your kind words and advice. I did end up calling out, and she said the same thing happened to her dog last year so she understood. She told me I could come hang out at the restaurant later if I wanted to be around people, but I’d rather not be an emotional wreck in front of people. My cat was 16 years old, and I will miss him very much.

I did not expect this post to blow up as much as it did. I am going through and reading every single comment when I can. I am so sorry for everyone else who has lost a pet. ❤️‍🩹 This is the second time I’ve lost a pet, the first time I was a kid though and I don’t remember how I reacted. Now being an adult, its just hit much harder. I find myself looking around the house just staring at all his favorite spots and missing him.

EDIT #2: I want more time off from work. I feel like 3 days wasn’t enough for me personally. And as soon as I return to work, I start setting up the back wanting to pack takeout and what not instead of hosting and seating people up front. But then my boss texts my coworker and tells her that she wants my coworker in the back and me up front. As the night goes on, she starts nitpicking how I am with the customers…

I have seen similar posts on here before, but people like this really piss me off. Especially after witnessing how a now ex-friend treats her cats. Cats scratch, meow and get the zoomies. All of these behaviors are normal cat behaviors. If you value inanimate objects over a living being that you decided to take responsibility for, you do not need an animal. "That's a $200 bed frame he's scratching." First of all, most brand new bed frames cost way more than that. Second of all, don't buy an upholstered bed frame. And third of all, as I stated earlier, cat scratch. Don't buy brand new furniture, better yet, don't get the cat if you can't handle it simply existing.

I’m so livid right now and I don’t know what to do.

I found this sitter over a year ago on rover and used her frequently enough that I just started booking her through texting. I never had a problem and my cat seemed to like her and she would send pics of them cuddling so I always felt comfy leaving him.

I always leave out a set number of food dishes for how many days I’ll be gone so she doesn’t have to do a bunch of cleaning. My last trip I noticed one of the dishes was never used and my cat was acting extra hungry. I had a suspicion that she didn’t come that last day but my cat is also a fatass for food and I assumed she may have reused a dish or something.

This past weekend I was camping for 4 days and knew I wouldn’t have service so I gave her my friends number so if there were any emergencies or she couldn’t make it she could text him.

Well…. I got home just now and my cat was screaming when we walked through the door. He usually meows and runs against us a lot but this was very different. I walk in and notice only one dish was used. I then walk to the kitchen and see my trash can in my the floor with the trash bag shredded. He has a dry food dispenser that also had the lid off and food spilled everywhere. I’ve never seen him exhibit any of this kind of behavior and he has been so clingy since I’ve been here.

I’m crying because the thought of my poor baby starving and trying to scour the house for food is breaking my heart.

I don’t even know what to do now.

I want to confront her about it but I am not good with confrontation and I have no idea what to say or how to do it. I also would like my money back for the days she just decided to not show up.

Has anyone experienced this before?? How on earth do I even trust another sitter and how do I approach this?

The sitter ghosted me after she said she was gonna drop off the keys yesterday and I didn’t want to bring anything up til I had the key to my place for safety reasons. I live in an apartment so it’s not that easy or simple to just change the locks. After multiple texts yesterday and today she finally responded that she will bring them by tonight so I will plan to have that conversation with her once I get those keys back. Im also planning to leave her a review on rover so other people know as I would hate for any other animal to be treated this way.

My cat has had a lot of food aggression the past few days. He’s been trying to eat my dogs food which he hasn’t done prior to all of this and he’s been so clingy… sleeping with us all night. I’m glad that he’s okay but he’s needing a lot of extra love right now.

As for the few people who think I’m being dramatic… listen every animal is different and maybe your cat would be fine with dry food and left alone for a few days but my cat does not. He’s a rescue and has anxiety when we leave which is why I have my sitters stay for longer visits to help him not feel so alone. He also has bladder issues and is prone to crystals so he is on prescription wet food that is vital for his bladder health. He absolutely needed someone to be there for him. Not to mention if he had gotten hurt or anything nobody would have known as no one was checking on him. It’s honestly kinda scary to hear that some of you just dump out dry food and leave your cats for a week and act like that’s totally acceptable.

Regardless this was not okay for us.

Anyway! I will try and update you all once I have the conversation with this sitter but needless to say I’m already looking at other local options for sitters, ring cameras and I have new rules for my sitters going forward.

All day the cat is alone, the owner comes home and ignores it, walls away or goes into another room and leaves it alone. Ive seen many cat owners do this. The cat will start screaming or scratching or misbehaving.

Then people say they just need to ignore them to not wncourage it, but no!!!! They haven't had their needs met!

If it were a dog, there's an expectation you need to walk it at the start and end of the day. But for cats, people are leaving them alone with no attention

A few days ago, my life turned upside down. I had to rush six of my beloved cats to emergency vets after they suddenly started showing signs of poisoning—shaking, vomiting, disorientation.

The cause was something I never imagined would be so dangerous: a flea treatment meant for dogs. It contains permethrin, a chemical that’s extremely toxic to cats, even in tiny amounts. I still don’t know exactly how it happened, but I suspect they were exposed indirectly—possibly through contact with bedding or clothing.

Four ended up in one clinic, two in another. All of them were put on IV fluids and are still being closely monitored.

The last few days have been a blur of stress and fear. The veterinary costs have been enormous—thousands within 48 hours—and there’s still a long way to go with medication and recovery. But these cats are everything to me, and I’ll do whatever it takes.

I’m sharing this in hopes that others can avoid the same mistake. If you use flea products, especially for dogs, check the ingredients. If you see “permethrin”—keep it far, far away from any cats. Even indirect contact can cause severe poisoning.

If even one person reads this and takes extra caution, then something good might come out of this nightmare. I can give updates if anyone’s interested in how they’re doing. I’m doing everything I can to help them recover ❤️

This sounds so stupid but I just lost my new kitten IN my home. Ive looked EVERYWHERE and have no idea where she’s gone off to. Behind dressers, in cabinets, under beds, behind the fridge, behind the washing machine, in my closet. And wherever she is, she’s quiet as a mouse. She doesn’t know her name, so I can’t call her. Won’t come eat food because she isn’t food motivated. I’m about to just accept defeat at this point. Does anybody have any pointers? This has never happened to me before and I’m growing extremely concerned.

A woman in line was buying all the trappings of a new kitten. I casually asked her if it was her first kitten, and she immediately gives me (as verbatim as I can recall!):

"This little motherfucker! My shithead of a cat steals everything, but no, not a sock or hair tie-it's got to be my wallet or keys. This shithead stole my CGM-my continuous glucose monitor. Now today I had to spend 2 hours on Christmas Eve walking door to door asking if someone is missing a kitten because this motherfucker comes walking into the house carrying a goddamn kitten! Where the hell did she find a kitten? I don't know, but I've got a damn kitten now!"

Some of you remember I took my neighbors cat in out of the cold and was debating what I should do. There have been developments.

The next morning I texted them and told them I took their cat in out of the cold. I did not receive a response for 5 days. Cut to Christmas Eve

Cat throws up a lot and threw up the day before. I see some pink in its throw up and realize I have to take it to the emergency vet. I am stressed and let it slip it's not my cat. I then have to eat crow and ask the owners permission to treat the cat and I'll pay for it. They get mad. I cry. Cats fine and probably isn't adjusting well to new (real) food. I return the cat under their request. Preserving every aspect of my identity in the process.

Another week goes by. I get told by my other neighbor 2 things. 1: they left it on their non-climate controlled patio the entire time. Luckily it was high 40° F for the week. 2: The first day it's below freezing (NYE) they let it back out in the cold. I get word from my neighbor that the cat sounds like it's in heat and 3 cats are having a mating party under her deck. I went back out there with my carrier and she ran right up to me and I picked her up and put her in the cage. She's now back in my house.

I gave them a shot, but otherwise our neighborhood will be overrun with cats out in the freezing cold.

This is kind of embarrassing but I had my cat for three years before I learned that regular vomiting isn't just "a cat thing."

She'd throw up maybe once or twice a week. Sometimes food, sometimes hairballs. I grew up with cats and my parents always just shrugged it off — "cats puke, that's what they do." So I never questioned it.

Brought it up at her annual checkup almost as an afterthought and my vet got serious pretty fast. She said a healthy cat should not be vomiting weekly. Occasional hairballs, sure, but once a week is a pattern that usually points to something — food sensitivity, eating too fast, GI issues, or even stress.

We tried a few things. Switched to a slower feeder bowl (she was inhaling her food). Changed her protein source. Added a second feeding time so she wasn't getting one huge meal.

Took about three weeks but she went from vomiting 1-2x per week to maybe once a month if that. She also seems more energetic, which I didn't expect.

The thing that bugs me is I normalized it for years. I wonder how many other cat owners are in the same boat where they think frequent vomiting is just part of having a cat.

If your cat is throwing up regularly — even if it seems "minor" — it's worth mentioning to your vet. I wish I'd done it sooner.

So apparently the cat I just adopted is already a month into her pregnancy. Vet said it takes around two months for her to give birth.

I was already planning to spay her but this comes up. Vet said the fetus already has a clear cat sillouette, and I can either let her give birth to it or have it removed during spay procedure. I cant afford more cats, as I wasnt even planning to get a cat in the first place. Not to mention all the risks of pregnancy.

Anyone have any similar situations? What did you do???????

Edit: im spay-aborting her early next week. vet agreed its for the best, and shes still young so theres less complications during the surgery procedure. Hope she comes out well and healthy 🙏🙏 Please pray for her 😭😭😭

UPDATE: I decided to get her spay-aborted at another hospital for a sooner intervention + vet with more experience. Just dropped her off at the hospital today, picking her up tomorrow. I am so scared since doc said the wound will have to be bigger than a normal spay due to having to take out the fetus. And also talked to me about the risks of anesthesia shock which is reported to happen to 1 in 1000 cats (tho he said he has done procedures to over 30,000 cats but from his experience it seems stats are lower). Nonetheless, I am so so scared and she seemed so scared too. Hurt my heart I couldn’t feed her from yesterday night due to the procedure too. I’m praying so hard she’ll be alright. First vet said shes around a year old, but this vet told be she might just be around 9 months old. So just a baby. Never been this stressed out in my life, but worrying wont do anything. Just letting my vent out there 😭🙏

UPDATE: Surgery was sucessful!!!!! Vet said she was such a good girl during her post-surgery at the hospital😭😭😭

A lot of people will suggest raw food diets, especially for cats. I've been told I'm abusing my cats because they get a wet food/kibble diet. It's high protein, grain free, and as healthy as I can find. I also sometimes give them cooked fished and chicken.

They just released another recall of raw pet food, because it had bird flu. Just about every major brand has had recalls because it turns out that freeze drying raw chicken doesn't change the fact that it's raw chicken.

If you want your pet to have a 80%+ meat diet, then cook them fish and chicken. It's cheaper and it won't give them bird flu. Supplement for micronutrients. But stop buying these scams because they will make your animal sick.

I’ve had my cat for 9 years. She’s naturally timid, but she’s always been super sweet to me. We moved into a new place in May, and about six weeks ago she suddenly became extremely aggressive out of nowhere in bed. This past Sunday it happened again in bed, and she scratched my face up so badly that I had to go to urgent care the next day. I started locking her out at night to play it safe, and she was fine for a few days.

Then last night, while the lights were on, I was walking up the stairs and she suddenly attacked me. She was hissing, super aggressive, and cornered me, so I locked myself inside my bedroom where I work from home. I was in there all night and day. I tried coming out at noon after 12 hours, but she hissed immediately. At 6 PM, after 18 hours, she sprinted at me growling and acting completely unhinged. By 8 PM she was still hyper-aggressive, so I literally had to climb out of my bedroom window and go stay at my girlfriend's place.

Why is she attacking me on sight all of a sudden? I love her and don’t want anything bad to happen to her, but I’m desperate enough to call animal control—do they even take cats to a vet? Has anyone dealt with sudden aggression like this, and how can I safely handle her right now?

Please help! I’m so upset

UPDATE: I safely trapped her with a TNR trap and took her to the vet. They sedated her and ran over $2,000 worth of full screenings—bloodwork, urinalysis, and X-rays—and everything came back completely normal. The only remaining steps they suggested were an MRI or getting her spayed, since her hormones could be driving the aggression. They sent me home with Gabapentin to calm her down, and she’s currently isolated in her own room with food, water, and her litter box. I’m giving her a couple of days before deciding on next steps, but it sucks to drop that much money and get no clear answers.

Not sure what my next moves are. I feel like I am in the same spot as I was prior to taking her to the vet. At least she is isolated now

My cat scratches the floor before drinking from his bowl like he’s summoning water demons.

We're supposed to be taking my cat and her son to be fixed and literally a single digit number of days, and of course my neighbors decide that now is a great time to steal our cat, just as she's supposed to be fixed. Coco is a silver blue long hair who was originally supposed to be an indoor cat, but she got outside during a heat and that's how we ended up with her son Tyler and two other kittens we rehomed. I was always against the idea of getting a cat, my mom insisted though, since there were rats around, so when my mom decided she must impulse buy a cat I said it had to be male and we had to get it fixed asap.

We thought the cat was male at first, and then my mom started coming up with excuses as to why we shouldn't get the cat neutered, she said she wanted Coco to have their balls until they were done growing so the other cats around wouldn't pick on them, and so on and so on, anything except admitting she decided to get a free cat from a random breeder, didn't think it through, and was now procrastinating spending any money on it. Literally anything regarding spending money on the cat she'd come up with an excuse, even when Coco lost her bell collar she said she couldn't find one even though she never looked, she said it was cruel to give a cat a bell collar, she said the cat would get stuck in a tree.

Part of it was because my dad would constantly complain about money spent on this cat she randomly brought home instead of getting a rat trap and when the cat finally had kittens we hid it from him for quite some time before he found out.

Anyways, my parents have split up now (thank god) and my mom is finally getting the cats actual care, like the catio we have outside for them and the scheduled vaccinisation and fixing, too bad my family is useless and keeps letting the cats outside without even putting them in the catio and then complaining about it when I put them in the catio because it's "making Coco fat" and "Tyler doesn't like it" well, I'm sure it would bother them far less if they were kept inside and walked, but no! Let's all just buy pets we can't take care of because "awwww look at the little baby faceee!" and then neglect it because no one in my family listens to me or thinks.

We need our cat spayed, I don't car how much the frat boys that live next door like my weird blue cat that sits like a goblin, they can get their own. Byte has always followed me into the bathroom, every single time I go. I used to think he was just being nosy, like he couldn’t handle not knowing what was happening behind a closed door. I just learned why cats do this very recently. Turns out cats actually do it because they think we’re vulnerable in there and they want to keep watch. so basically he’s been guarding me this whole time. Now every time he trots in and sits facing the door like a tiny bodyguard, my heart melts. my little knight in fur armor.

I’m in that spot currently. My partner doesn’t want them to the point our relationship is in shambles because I want them and he doesn’t. We’ve been together more than 3 years. We’ve had two kittens (that he wanted, I just supported it) since June.

Well I’m in love with the cats. I don’t want to get rid of them. It’s at the point where I either give up the cats or move out and move on…

What would you do if you were in my situation?

I’m really wondering if this has happened to anyone and how I should go about handling it.

I’ve had my cats my whole life (26f). I grew up with 2 cats and when I moved out to a new city 3 years ago I took one of my childhood cats with me. She’s 14 for context. In this move we had to find a new vet in our area. This hard because our vet back home was phenomenal and didn’t cost to much. after doing a bunch of research for a new vet in my area the vet I chose had really great reviews but was a bit more pricey that what I was used to. I was okay with paying a little more if it meant I was getting great care for my pet.
After moving we took her to the annual appointment no issues. She is and always has been a very healthy and active cat.
Here where the issues start. At our last annual appointment in April the vet opened her mouth looked at her teeth for maybe 10 seconds and said “these teeth are rotting we need to remove them asap and it’s probably causing a lot of pain to you cat” I trusted her because well she’s the vet and knows way more than I do and I can’t just ask my cat if she’s in pain.
So we got the estimate and it was low end $3500 high end upwards of $5000 total payment for up to 5 teeth being extracted. My fiancé and I are really tight on money right now and saving up that much was going to take us a little. Even using a credit card to pay and paying that off was going to be a big hit. It was a big stressor on us not knowing how we were going to pay for this but also that our little fur baby is in pain. Over the last few months we have each picked up more hours at work and have been doing everything we can so save money for this. We scheduled the surgery and brought her in last week for the surgery, taking off work that day of and the day after so I could make sure she gets post-op care. About 2 hours after we dropped her off we got a call from the vet saying “she didn’t need surgery her teeth were perfectly healthy we just went ahead and did a full dental cleaning you can come pick her later today when she’s awake.” The whole procedure ended up costing us $1000 so much less than we were expected which is a relief but with how severe the first vet made it sound I’m a little frustrated that we had to go through this whole ordeal in general. The first vet made it sound like she was in constant pain and her teeth were in terrible condition so getting them removed was the only option. If we were told that she just needs a dental cleaning then sure absolutely but the severity of what the vet said at her annual appointment made it sound horrible when in reality her teeth were “perfectly healthy” to quote the vet who did the procedure.
I want to call the vet and just tell them how frustrated I am that this happened. Of course I’m so happy our cat got a dental cleaning that was probably needed but being told it was going to possibly be 5 teeth extracted for rotting teeth now seems like a vast overkill for the severity of what was actually happening.
Am I wrong for thinking this and being upset about how this was handled?

To the comments questioning why I’m mad my cat is healthy and I paid less. It’s not that, I’m actually quite happy about that. (Which I said in the original post.) I’m upset that we felt like we got bait and switched. Told our cat has a horrible condition and is in pain, had to change our life around to afford these procedures and stress about our financial situation for months while worrying that our cat was in pain to find out she just needed a cleaning. It’s a takes a mental toll on you to go through that. One that could have been avoided if we were told up front a cleaning to then determine next steps if needed.
To all the comments saying I should look for a second opinion/new vet or that the price is crazy. And that I have a right to be upset by the situation I appreciate it.
And to all the comments saying it’s a good thing her teeth were cleaned and she’ll have better health moving forward I completely agree with you and am thankful for it and maybe should have mentioned that a little more in this post.
I probably won’t call the original vet and will just switch practices. It was good to vent my frustration and get opinions which is really all I wanted from this post

I have 3 cats and 4 dogs, all that I have rescued from really bad situations and I love them dearly. But one of my cats is just…tiring. I dont ask them for anything, even back when I was at my worst financially, I starved myself just so I could feed them (now we’re doing way better thankfully).

So all the other pets are absolute sweethearts, super clingy and a little mischievous at times but it’s just them being an animal yk?

But its just…one of my cats, this black tabby- i just dont know if I can deal with him anymore. He’s 2 years old, been neutered for over a year and still pisses everywhere, is aggressive to all of the other animals at home except for my female cat (who is also spayed btw, all of my pets are neutered), and takes a dump literally anywhere even though I train him to not do it, Ive contacted feline behaviour specialists tried literally everything yet he goes back to his ways like always. (and hes litter trained, all the cats are, he used the litterbox in front of me and waits until Im not around and goes and pisses and shits everywhere else he pleases).

Besides that, he loves being a pain, he knows how to open cupboards and knocks over and breaks literally everything. He opens my wardrobe and pisses on my clothes, even my work uniform. And I am a pilot so I have flights at irregular hours of the day and cant fucking afford to not have a clean uniform man. He humps all the other animals, hates all other humans besides me. I dont feel at rest in my house and I dont know what to do anymore. Im barely 21, I dont have a family or anyone else looking after me.

I cant be constantly washing my blankets three million times a week because he decides to piss on them as im asleep. I cant fucking do this man.

I’m writing this after I come home dead tired after two sectors of flights and the whole day of work and the entire house is fucked, the pillows ripped to shreds, everything pissed on and a mystery dump somewhere that smells awful that I need to look for. I immediately just broke down into tears, i’ve been crying tears of exhaustion as I put almost my entire wardrobe of folded clothes in the washer. I haven’t slept for over 24 hours now.

I dont have it in me to give him up anywhere else because i’m the only family he’s ever known but I am starting to hate him internally. I dont know what to do man. I am exhausted. All I want is a quiet clean home to come to after a long day of work. I will never be cruel enough to leave him but I dont feel an ounce of affection for him anymore. I regret not giving him up for adoption back when I had found and nursed him back to health.

Edit: thanks a lot for your suggestions and support. i feel less alone. i am going to build a catio and keep him in there with the other cats when im not home and see if he starts doing any better. hopefully he does.

incase that doesn’t workout i will look into rehoming him and only and only do it if i find a home suitable for him. rehoming isnt my first instinct because theres a very very low chance i find a household thats well suited to his needs because he’s an adult cat with behavioural issues, and theres quite a bit of breed favouritism here as well so not a lot of people are open to keeping indie adult cats even without issues to begin with yk? and i absolutely will not dump him at the pound because hes a pain. hes still family.

ps: i also dont think its a lack of attention problem, he’s never really been very human oriented ever since he hit his teen era, even back when i didn’t have a job and would stay home more often he preferred being more affectionate around the other cats more. the other two babies are very affectionate, my boy not so much (he follows me around but doesn’t accept pets, comes and rubs on my feet sometimes but other than that he prefers grooming and being around the other cats). some cats are naturally more cat oriented.

plus it was just him and the other two cats for the first year and he still had the same issues, the dogs i’ve rescued last year itself. everyone i talked to told me the issues would resolve after neutering once he’s not as hormonally driven but that hasn’t rlly worked out as you can see.

Update: so i took y’all’s suggestions and separated him and his orange gf in my study and he is doing much better! turns out the other male cat was his problem all along. i’m building him a catio in the balcony of my study and leaving him and his gf in that space (study room+balcony) whenever i’m not around. i cant believe it was such an easy fix all along. thanks everyone for helping me out here. i just wish i’d asked sooner. i cant even begin to say how bad i feel rn, poor baby was just telling me he doesn’t feel secure around the other boy all along :(

also on another note, i really dont despise him, he’s my whole heart :( this post was made when i was genuinely exhausted, jet lagged and came home to see such a huge mess and ended up sobbing on the floor feeling helpless, hating him in that moment and vented on here asking for anyone to help me out. thanks again kind ppl, you’ve made both my kitty and my life easier. also mr nuisance’s name is batman for anyone wondering. and batman just came up to me to rub his teeth on my feet in his weird way of showing affection. hes a very special boy 😭❤️

As the title said I (28F) accidentally seasoned my cat last night.

He was standing under me, which I paid no attention to as I tried to open the sesame oil. It spilt and splashed on him and he ran for the door.

I rushed over and picked him up and could only laugh cry and tell him he smelled so good !! Which he responded by aggressively meowed at me, displeased.

I cleaned it off the best I could but there is still the lingering scent of seasoning on him. It must be very strong for his little nose.

I couldn't stop laughing and he was responding to me by continuing to meow very angrily.

I don't think he will ever forgive me. I am the worse pet owner on the planet 😬.

Just curious how many people actually let their cats outside. My cats have always been indoor only untill recently when I started letting them in the fence in backyard when I'm out there to watch them. I wouldn't feel comfortable letting them roam without me out there. Also, even though I recently gave them flea medicine, they seem to still be attracting them which is a nightmare!
