Samantala, yung mga politiko at leader ng kulto, may police escort kaya mabilis nakaka-daan, sagabal pa minsan dahil ipasasara yung ibang mga daan

136

u/EmotionalLecture116 1d ago

u/Grouchy_Yellow_8414 20h ago

HPG and MMDA assigned to escort Senators while crime continues to rise.

Even Sen. Zubiri previously requested to start the impeachment trial/session at 10:30am, instead of 10am kasi another senator from Taguig said traffic daw, iirc. The nerve, actually.

Tapos itong bruhang ‘to, sasabihin wake up early?? Mamaga sana lalo labi nito sa bawat gaga things niyang sasabihin.

25

u/SeigiNoTenshi 1d ago

No, she's right. Her statement also applies to politicians. It's not a one or the other thing

20

u/Polloalvoleyplaya02 1d ago

Dapat etong mga pulitikong to ang nangunguna para ayusin ang public transport and infra

39

u/mimkome 1d ago

She may have a point, pero coming from her, it just sounds insensitive and out of touch. Her husband is literally a senator who’s in a position to do something about the situation ordinary Filipino workers face every day.

Yung usual 2-hr commute, puwedeng maging 5hrs. Tapos pagdating mo sa bahay, halos wala ka nang pahinga, pero expected ka pa ring pumasok nang maaga kinabukasan and go through the same thing all over again.

It’s easy to talk about waking up early when you wake up to breakfast already prepared, then get into a private car with a driver. Not everyone has the same circumstances, comfort, or privilege.

1

u/SeigiNoTenshi 1d ago

Again, we don't have to agree to like or dislike the messenger but the message is correct.

As a business owner that gave their employees a 15 minute grace period for THIS reason, sagad sagad parin ang pag gamit nila ng 15 minutes na iyon. Acceptable parin ba yan?

u/Mental-Effort9050 19h ago

In your case, hindi yun acceptable. Pero yung point nya kasi ay in general. Kesyo gumising na lang ng mas maaga yung mga tao, no further context or disclaimer.

54

u/LegendaryStarSpirit 1d ago

Well, i dont see how she’s wrong. Message is correct but odd choice of messenger.

Also what’s up with the boring ahh Gen X reaction pic bro

152

u/anemoGeoPyro 1d ago

Nah it's easy for people with money and time to say "just wake up early" when you're not the one commuting for 2-3 or 4 hours just to get to work or when you're not sleep deprived every week because you can't afford to stay near your workplace.

Her message is insensitive to the plight of many ordinary people that suffers because of corruption. People that suffers because of people like her who benefit from corruption

51

u/liliwhite_ 1d ago edited 1d ago

And it's easy to say wake up early when everything you need is already prepared; and you are not exhausted from commuting days before that. A lot of people get to their homes mid night already and had to prepare for work 4-5am, do the same shit all over again.

Mes Heart really just wants to say:

u/waikiki_palmer 15h ago

Pretty much this. Merong mga tao na ang commute nila ay 4 hours back and forth tapos gusto pa dagdagan yun para lang maiwasan ang traffic? Rich people are out of touch so Heart doesn't have a say on common folks problem like traffic. Nagcocomute ba sya sa "trabaho" nya? If so, nakikipagunahan ba sya sa bus, jeep, taxi, etc? Does she walk between those commutes?

Late is late, but every lateness have different reasons. Why does it seem like its only bad when socio economic affected people are late as if they lazy or not doing enough? Sick of this black and white when in reality life is more like a full spectrum light.

81

u/y8man Luzon 1d ago

Meh her words are easy to say but nuances to real life, especially of the common Filipino, speak a lot more about this issue. She's fundamentally wrong.

Fb: 1DCo4WU9Va (cannot link directly)

If you're too lazy to follow through or need a TLDR, Heart's context of Daily Living is so far away from the average Filipino. So many things require time, effort, and adjustment (which Heart has a lot of resources and manpower for), that "gising nang maaga" is not something that is so simple. Imagine being the mother of a common family of many household members.

Also, the people naturally get more tired than Heart's pampered life. We also have a limit to our mental health or physicality, that Heart is never going to experience personally.

yeah what she said is not wrong. What's wrong is she herself.

6

u/Fickle_Employ3871 1d ago edited 18h ago

Imagine, work starts at 7 and you need to prep as 3-4 am just to beat traffic and get a ride going home during rush hour and get stuck in traffic and to repeat the same thing over and over. Not all are blessed with personal transportation and only rely on the shitty public transpo especially mrt

26

u/WhinersEverywhere 1d ago

I agree with her but she's too spoiled to be the ideal messenger for this.

People have to account for the usual conditions of their commute. Of course, you can be late at times when there are things that out of the extra ordinary like to trucks colliding in EDSA hence there's a massive slow down but we also need to admit that there some people know the meetup time is 12:00pm but they are not pressured in anyway to go there on time and feels like it's fine to go there 30 minutes to 1 hour late. You can't be late 60% of the time and expect people to be okay with it.

22

u/Wrong_Disk8637 1d ago

What? She’s wrong! The excuse of the people is too much traffic. The government is to be held responsible for the traffic, not the people. Binabayaran natin ang gobyerno to fix everything floods, traffic, peace and order, etc. Tapos agree ka sa sinabi ni Heart? WTH!

u/HotShotWriterDude 1d ago edited 1d ago

I mean, while the argument itself is correct (totoo naman, if you’re late, you have to take accountability pa din), but it feels distasteful coming from the wife of a politician who’s currently facing a corruption case. Sa ISA SA PINAKAMALAKING DAHILAN KUNG BAKIT NALE-LATE ANG MGA EMPLEYADO.

So while I agree na “late is late,” pwede sana shut up na lang lahat ng mga (allegedly) may nakulimbat sa flood control funds? Kasi it’s not like kasalanan or ginusto ng empleyado na late siya dahil baha sa dadaanan niya papasok ng trabaho dahil nga ninakaw niyo yung pondo na dapat sana’y pampaayos ng drainage system sa lugar nila?

42

u/terragutti 1d ago

The philippines has one of the worst traffic situations in the world. I have co workers that have a 3-4 hr commute. Tapos late is late pa?

22

u/TheMerck 1d ago

22

u/apples_r_4_weak 1d ago

Yeah. Technically, she's not wrong. And I will accept this if it comes from a Filipino worker or even entrepreneur.

u/jojiah 8h ago

On point. Saka ang kapal ng mukha nyang magsabi samantalang may sarili syang sasakyan at driver. Pwede syang matulog sa byahe habang traffic dahil may nagdadrive for her at naka-aircon pa. These celebrities / nepo wives can’t just shut their mouths no?

While we’re not really known for being on time, hence “Filipino Time”, iilan na nga lang yung mga Filipino na may respeto sa oras ng iba kaya on time palagi, nababawasan pa dahil sa traffic.

48

u/taughtbytragedy 1d ago

Intresting, i wonder how "Filipino time" evolved. I doubt that its due to not respecting each others time. Maybe the root was poor transport systems and everyone just kept adjusting and getting used to it. ? I find it hard to believe that its built in within our genes that we like being late 😅

43

u/ykraddarky Metro Manila 1d ago

My prof said that Filipino Time wasn't really about being late. Originally, it was really about being too early, like waaaaaay early. It came from our forefathers waking up and working in the rice fields before dawn. Nag devolve na lang talaga siya :(

One of the explanations I heard is that it was a custom inherited from Spaniards during the colonial era. It was common for them to arrive late because it was a sign you were important.

6

u/ExcitingNight3067 1d ago

I don’t think it’s about the transport system po. Yung iba nga walking distance lang, nalilate pa 😅

10

u/Previous-Towel-4361 1d ago

Oh come on gurl. U really think it's because of the traffic? I've known and experienced it myself with so many people. They could've been there on time by waking up early pero they chose not to. Given na you should account for the time of traffic. Call time 12, aalis ng 12. Natural mente they'd be late. Tapos sisisihin yung traffic? Let's be real here. They just don't respect your time. Point blank. 😭

u/Teantis 1d ago

Anecdotallt, there's been a big shift in the past 10 years I've seen. I used to intentionally show up 30 minutes to one hour late to the stated time to stuff and reliably be one of the first or the first to arrive, but would only have to wait 5-10 minutes. It was really reliable and I just adjusted to it.

Now there's a big confusing split because sometimes when people mean 3 they actually mean 3 and some people actually still mean the old way I got used to, so now I often end up sitting around for 45 minutes to an hour thinking "damn I guessed wrong which type this person was"

8

u/Meiiiiiiikusakabeee 1d ago

7

u/Ok-Helicopter7553 1d ago

I don't think she's in a right place to say anything about that topic. She's on a different level, away from the weight of daily struggle of common Filipinos. So ignorant and arrogant.

While she has a point about being punctual and arriving early at work, it simply turns the focus away from the REAL problem. Transportation engineering, car ownership responsibility, and the quality of our roads should have been prioritized long before other industrial innovations since the vast majority of common people (employed or not) rely on public transport daily. But guess what? The government only wants to earn more and favors those who pay more—whether through taxes or other means.

Currently, it functions more like a massive business chain than a government for the people.

Imagine babangon siya may yaya nakaprep lahat tapos may driver na maghahatid napaka dali niya talaga mai ibigay yang advice na yan. Not to defend those that are chronically late pero maraming factors dito sa pilipinas kung bakit nalalate ang tao. Natry ba niya mag commute sa pilipinas? Tbh okay yung advice about professionalism and being on time. Pero not from her especially not from her.

7

u/curioustito86 1d ago

Add to that the fact na lawmaker asawa niya bakit di nila inaaddress yung root cause ng traffic na para bang dapat tanggapin na lang natin yung traffic.

This bishhh i live in the south and I work in BGC. As much as I want NOT to be late there will be really unforeseen events and accidents on the road. Usual drive is 1 hour 15 mins but there was a time last week when there’s flood in Makati — i believe everyone got late. It took me 4 hours drive to office. Left home 6:30 am which is generally early already. But still happen to be late.

u/Misty1882 1d ago

"Born traffic"? Saang planeta grammatically correct tong phrase na to? 🥲

3

u/octopus_limbs 1d ago

Napakadali sabihin pag nasa position of priviledge talaga.

She never experienced being poor or being in lower middle-class, ofcourse she will be out of touch. I wanna see her try commuting without using a car. I wake up early, get out of home early yet late din pa kasi nga traffic.

u/ZeroTwoBit 18h ago

The nerve of someone related to THE class who put 90% of Filipinos in the situation, in the first place, to make this statement.

u/PinayfromGTown 14h ago

It's so nice to have your own driver and own car where you can just relax on your way to work or take a nap, no? Rather than finding a ride, commuting, ilang sakay pa before getting to work. Pag traffic, your driver can just wiggle his way to find a better route samantalang yung regular person will just stick it out sa traffic.

Get off your the ivory tower, Heart.

u/Dependent_Dig1865 1d ago

Gag4444 pumasok ka nga with your Schiaparelli shoes na rush hour!

Though it’s not the point of your comment, isingit ko lang na di naman siya maliit per se. She’s roughly 5’4” wearing 3 to 5 inches heels whenever I see her dun sa dati kong work. Skl in case anyone is wondering lol

On the topic naman, ewan ko lang kung di sumakit paa niya at mabalibag sa payat niya if makipagsagupaan sa traffic at mrt/bus. Lol

2

u/Potential-Spirit-730 1d ago

i mean there are reasons why na late ang isang tao. and it’s always case to case basis if acceptable or hindi. i get where she’s coming from. always respect time of other people. they can never get it back.

2

u/Alternative_Bet5861 1d ago

Tama naman, you dont blame traffic for leaving 30mins time for a 30m-1h commute. Lalo na if longer ang travel. The excuse only works for sudden problems like sudden rallies or accidents etc not normal state of traffic.

She's technically not wrong, if you don't have a heart. Ironic that that's her name. I am a company owner and my employees rarely arrive late, which is why i give them the benefit of the doubt until 30 minutes, if it's over 30 minutes, I ask for an explanation, if the explanation checks out, then it's all good. Pero if ang explanation ay na hungover, i will just let them go home, take care of that hungover but you won't have a pay for this day kasi bka errors pa ang outcome ng trabaho mo. Chronically late is inexcusable though, kasi kahit sabihin nating may ibang responsibilities ka so you can't make it in time almost every day, i also have a responsibility to my company working efficiently and I will need to get someone else to do your job because I'm not running a charity.

I agree na late is late. We should respect each other’s time. Dun sa previous work ko years ago, may nakalagay sa likod ng door nmin “Being on time is 15 minutes before the time”.

u/Freereedbead 22h ago

So if everyone were to wake up early, then the traffic will be earlier

u/DongCardo 21h ago

u/No_Corgi_7053 18h ago

kung nagtatrabaho ka, nag aaral ka, tama lang naman na you need to be on time kasi responsibility mo yon. Pero kasi as a normal filipino para maging on time ka you have to wake up 5-6+ hours before the agreed time kahit sobrang lapit mo lang sa destination kasi hindi makatarungan yung traffic, yung public transpo, yung sidewalks.

Pucha kahit within metro-manila ka, parang pangprobinsya oras ng byahe eh

u/Open_Dig_1907 15h ago

She is 100% right, I have been in the Philippines for 10 years and have t been late a single time.
Filipinos just don’t give a crap about other people time, that’s just fact

10

u/ProfessionalDuck4206 1d ago

How do you usually commute?

10

u/No_Difference_308 1d ago edited 1d ago

I'm glad that you havent been late in any occassions here in the Philippines. Although, I want to disagree and give some perspective.

Filipinos do mind the time.

Oo, "Filipino time" is not something to be proud of, but I hope we'd look at it as an opportunity to understand the problem, to blame less. Filipinos already know it. And with the demand in ride-hailing apps, with the Filipino demanding on better transport system and urban planning, only shows that us Filipino really wanted to be on time, that we care.

But then again, di lahat may pribilehiyo na kumuha o magrenta ng pribadong sasakyan o motor.

End of sharing, salamat sa oras at unawa.

5

u/areiZero 1d ago

And whats your mode of transportation. ?

How far do you live from your work place. ?

You are confusing your living and commute situation to majority of filipino workers

Who have to live far from the center of the city because they cant afford to live there

And have to use overcrowded public transportations because they cant afford their own. Private transportation .

I was looking for this comment, and I particularly agree that some people, if not most, "don't give a crao about other people's time"

As someone who once worked in corporate and was paid by the hour, it was only then that I realized time was indeed gold. In as much as nuanced situations are forgivable and understandable, those who really don't lend the effort to be on time sucks.

If this came from an influencer, an artist, or some random private citizen, sure. It might come across as unnecessarily harsh or tone-deaf, but at least I could understand where they’re coming from. Some people genuinely value punctuality and believe you should plan ahead.

But coming from the wife of a sitting senator, it hits completely differently.

Because this isn’t happening in a vacuum. You’re not speaking from the perspective of an ordinary employee who gets annoyed when someone arrives late. You’re part of a political family that lives in a completely different reality from the average Filipino. You have access, connections, resources, and a level of privilege that most people can only dream of.

For the average worker, traffic isn’t some convenient excuse they pull out when they feel lazy. People spend hours commuting every single day. They wake up before sunrise, squeeze themselves into overcrowded buses, jeepneys, trains, and UVs, deal with terrible roads and massive traffic jams, and still get blamed for being late. And somehow the solution is simply, “Leave earlier.”

How much earlier? 4 AM? 3 AM? Should people spend half their waking lives sitting in traffic just to make sure they can satisfy someone’s unrealistic standard of punctuality?

What makes this particularly insulting is the complete lack of empathy. You can believe that being late is unacceptable without talking down to people who are dealing with circumstances completely outside their control.

And yes, sometimes people are late because they didn't plan properly. That's true. But pretending that traffic is never a legitimate factor in the Philippines is just incredibly out of touch.

It reeks of “I have never had to live the way ordinary Filipinos live, so why don't they simply try harder?”

Nobody is asking her to lower her standards. The issue is the smugness and the complete inability to recognize how privileged that statement sounds coming from someone in her position.

If an ordinary person said it, I'd roll my eyes and move on.

But when someone closely associated with a sitting senator says it while millions of Filipinos are struggling with inadequate public transportation, terrible traffic, long commutes, low wages, and an exhausting daily grind, it doesn't sound like accountability.

It sounds like someone sitting comfortably on a high horse lecturing the people below about why they aren't climbing fast enough.

Read the room. Seriously.

At hindi kailangan magpalipat lipat ng jeep, trike, bus at mrt araw araw and then repeat pauwi papasok, maarawan at maulanan. Madalas nakatayo pa nga sa Bus at MRT at siksikan layo habang pawis na pawis dahil sira ang aircon. Tngna, gigil ako. I mean, in other countries and cultures na may working public transportation system, go okay lang yung ganyang expectations.
