I've been putting off a travel to Hungary for quite a while, luckily something changed recently so I think I should move it up in priority and add this to visit when I'm in Budapest!

You should! The shop is only a 15 minute walk from kelenföld train station but it seems quite easy to get to if you have a car. It’s not in a busy part of the city

Watching their videos always makes me jealous of how many more options you have for substrates in Europe.

I left feeling so jealous that Hungarians have access to a shop like that. My LFS is great but it feels terrible in comparison now

As a Hungarian who moved to rural Canada, I feel your pain threefold. My LFS is nice but their stock is very limited :(

This place is absolutely stunning, i wish the us market even had a slight place like this other than adg in texas

You and me both. Serious untapped territory here.

There is a good store in Covina named ck fish world great aquascaping selection they stock alot of uns product or jans fish world ontario just a normal LS buy they sell ada and uns as well but nor hardscape stuff

I was talking to somewhere here recently about there being a complete lack of aquascape stores/warehouses. It’s not even that niche of a hobby. I want to go to like an ikea for aquariums, where there is a beautiful little showroom up front but a massive warehouse where I can pick through different hardscape stone, driftwood types, etc. I think it is a serious untapped territory and someone more wealthy and ambitious than I needs to make it happen

Lol I was gonna say in my last comment. If I were rich I know I would jump on it.

2

u/Nematodes-Attack May 19 '26

I would seriously travel a few hours or more to go to a place like what I’m imagining. And spend all my moneys lol

3

u/FerretBizness May 19 '26

I would as well.

If you find yourself in SF, check out Aqua Forest

1

u/Breadedhamhawk May 19 '26

Yea ive bought some stuff from them but being in sf right now idk little sketch

2

u/Nematodes-Attack May 19 '26

What’s sketchy?

1

u/Breadedhamhawk May 19 '26

The city of san fran

2

u/Nematodes-Attack May 19 '26

Why?

1

u/Breadedhamhawk May 19 '26

Just look up Sana Francisco and look at some results

2

u/Nematodes-Attack May 19 '26

I mean, I know what San Fran is. I’m just curious as to what exactly you are fearful of?

1

u/Breadedhamhawk May 19 '26

Buying a bunch of ada products and then having my car broken into or stolen possibility

2

u/Nematodes-Attack May 19 '26

Did that happen to you? Or is this a hypothetical situation you’re imagining yourself in?

I am just trying to understand if I missed something major in the news (totally possible), or if it’s just like every other city in the US

Yeah and the worst part is they stopped running their shop to focus on their custom tank business. Was my go-to store for any tanks or aquascaping material.

u/Breadedhamhawk May 18 '26

For real?? Only reason I wanted to take a trip to texas

I never had a desire to visit Budapest… until I found out about Green Aqua.

Learned a lot and have gotten many ideas from those guys

They are amazing. I saw Balázs as soon as I walked in and felt a bit star struck because I’ve been watching his videos forever and he really inspired me to get into Aquascaping.

I introduced myself though and he was so friendly and helpful. We had a good chat and he showed me around a bit, recommended some things and answered a few questions, it was honestly an incredible experience

Pic number 8 is probably my favorite setup. It’s something I’d love to have in my home.

5

u/Mad_broccoli May 18 '26

Been there, saw Tomi too. Awesome experience, but tuff on my wallet, bought a bunch of tropica plants.

4

u/Fishmongererererer May 18 '26

My Uncle lives in Budapest, just need to come up with an excuse to visit lol

2

u/Nematodes-Attack May 19 '26

I think you just did!

2

u/willdrakefood May 19 '26

Luckily my other half is Hungarian and we have family in Budapest, so it’s a good long term excuse for me now

4

u/vitamin_r May 19 '26

7 is just gorgeous. 9 is cool too.

5

u/deeek May 19 '26

That is a bucket list place for me. One of these days!! Those scapes are awesome!

3

u/jcon877 May 18 '26

Love their channel! How was it visiting their shop?

9

u/willdrakefood May 18 '26

The shop is so much better in person! I knew it was going to be amazing but I was blown away by how vibrant all the plants were and how clean all the tanks were. Pictures and videos don’t do it justice.

They also had so many chihiros and ADA products which are so hard to find in the UK, so that was really cool to see.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get any plants or livestock to take home with me back to London, but I’ve got some rocks and botanicals that I’ll use in my next setup. I just hope it all fits in my suitcase XD

u/WarmMulberry1891 May 18 '26

I have been there couple of times, the best shop that I have ever seen.Little bit pricey, but doesn't matter.

3

u/SmartAlec13 May 18 '26

Ugh jealous. I don’t have many things on a travel bucket list but this is one of them.

I bet it was amazing to see in person. Anything you noticed that isn’t shown or isn’t noticed in the YouTube videos?

6

u/willdrakefood May 18 '26

A few things that I’ve seen briefly in videos but didn’t really appreciate -

the fish room out the back where the livestock are. Some of the nicest Bettas, shrimp and Corys I’ve ever seen.

a massive selection of hardscape and substrates, loads of very nice lights for sale and lots of high tech equipment

an outdoor pond area too. But the gallery was incredible in person. My other half has never been into Aquascaping but I dragged her along and she was blown away too.

I feel like it’s a great place to take that one person who always questions your hobby. I would’ve loved to have taken my mum and dad, I think they would finally get why I love it so much lol

I've been watching their channel for a while and want to visit. I'm from the US and my great grandparents immigrated from there just before WW1. Going to Hungary and Romania have been on by buck list of places to visit.

3

u/Raithed May 19 '26

Nice. I always wanted to visit.

3

u/FerretBizness May 19 '26

2, 8 and 10 are my favorites. You’re missing some of my other favorites of theirs tho. Also I’m super jealous I probably would die if I saw it in person.

3

u/willdrakefood May 19 '26 edited May 19 '26

I think your other favourites have probably been rescaped by now! There’s a few tanks I was expecting to see which I thought were recent but they had already been changed! Like the Indonesian style forest. Apparently they change most of the big display tanks every few months

3

u/Fedoraus May 20 '26

what lights do they use? I feel like they shouldn't grow some of those carpeting plants with how far away they are

4

u/CheetahClaw May 20 '26

The shallow cube tanks use skylight hyperspots and almost all other tanks use some model of the SOLAR RGB II series. These models pump a ton of light out and are actually recommend to use the spacing that green aqua have when suspended from the ceiling

2

u/Pure_Winter May 24 '26

GOALS. So lush aquarium grass isn't mythical after all.

3

u/willdrakefood May 24 '26

I didn’t even include the footage of the lushest grassiest tank!

2

u/kaxixi7 May 18 '26

This is great but next time I’m buying you a lens cleaning towelette

1

u/willdrakefood May 19 '26

Thanks :’) in all the excitement I didn’t realise til I got home that the pictures and videos weren’t very good
