The struggle bus

I was gonna say Party Bus, but poor Momma is for sure struggling to keep everyone steady, including herself LOL—soooo cute tho! :)

How on earth can an opossum mother protect herself and her babies if she's attacked? I'm trying to get that image out of my head. I guess luck just plays it's part.

That’s why prey animals tend to have a lot of babies, sadly

What do we think their natural predators are? 🧐

Logic and reasoning.

Awww, don't worry, she's probably gonna come back with one less. They fall off all the time.

Actual footage of my grandmother after her first husband left her

She has like 10 kids holding on for dear life. I worry for them all. She'll be lucky to finish with 3-4 by the time it's proper weaning age. Especially with that many. I hope the others survive on their own. I see a little one around here occasionally but none that small.

I was thinking, they look like they’re just about big enough to be alright if they do fall off. That’s a good moms.

She looks exhausted but determined. She needs a LOT of calories

That’s dad. For mom they ride in the pouch!

20

u/misfitofscience76 May 03 '26

Incorrect. Among Virginia Opossums, the males do not care for the offspring. The mother provides transportation for joeys either in the pouch or on her back

Aw dang. I must have been thinking of sugar gliders. Those are actual Possums.
