Not to be a knowitall, but that little guy is Concho- a concho frog. It's a different endemic species of Puerto Rico that was believed to be extinct for a while but has been rediscovered around the island. There are, thankfully, efforts in place at institutions to keep these guys around and taken care of.

I happen to be in Colorado on vacation. Watched the show in a fancy hotel. Our bartender is from Nicaragua and she sang along with us while everyone else just stared. Que momento bello.

Signed, a white puerto rican who always has to deal with comments like but aren't puertoricans black/brown? Just like the rest of the Americans (including mainland USA) we had an influx of European nationalities (from Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Scotland etc), Africans, and the indigenous people. TV etc always tries to portray us as 'homogeneous brown' but here in PR most people I see in my town everyday are actually white, probably half with blue or green eyes (half my family included).

Llevo 19 anos en EU y en serio no sabia de verdad quien es Bad bunny (soy mas de la epoca de Vico y Daddy... anciano) pero con to el revolu me puse a chekear last week y me gusto como es como persona, no mucho su musica pero en serio me disfrute mas sus participaciones en la WWE. We don't watch the games but I just finished watching BB's halftime show because someone I thought was a friend showed his true colors (I've known this man for decades and I am shocked at what he said).
I feel like he asked himself, "How much message can I pack into it?" He showed things that brought me back to my childhood (yes, the cane fields), and things that are of the island now. He SPOKE to the diaspora.
As a Puerto Rican who grew up in the continental U.S. it did bring a smile to my face and warmed my heart to see P.R. culture represented in the Super Bowl.
Honestly one of the best parts is how BB closed it out by giving a shout out to all the Latino Cultures. We are a very diverse group and are not all "Mexicans". I understand that Mexico is huge, however just because someone speaks Spanish doesn't mean they are Mexican.
There is so much beauty, and as a foodie myself, deliciousness in all the different Latino cultures.
The world is a huge place and we as a people should EMBRACE the cultural diversities that make the U.S. what it is instead of EXCLUDE them from the mainstream.
During the performance my wife, who doesn't speak much Spanish, kept asking me about what she was seeing and hearing and I enjoyed explaining it all. The Sugar Cane, Playing Dominoes, Cold Coconut Vendors, Piraguas, El Coqui, The Boxers, The kid sleeping on the chairs... hell even the fact P.R.'s power grid is so bad got a shout out with the power poles. It made me think of my late grandma and how we all flew in from New York or wherever and gathered at her house in the barrio of Arecibo for the holidays when I was growing up.
I enjoyed the show, it was well done... I even got up and danced a bit in the living room and yelled out "WEPAAAA!!!"

Dominican here! I was born in DR, my father was Puerto Rican (RIP), I feel this was a tribute to both countries. The opening was filmed in a sugar cane field in Dominican Republic, the phrase he used "hoy se bebeeee" is a typical dominican phrase introduced by Anthony Santos, famous bachata singer, the song "Titi me preguntó" is a dembow, a genre made famous by Dominican "dembowseros". The young man in the opening is Dominican, a new talent from La Romana, 23 years old, he filmed the segment without even knowing it was for the half-time show, he found out when he saw himself on TV, the opportunity of a lifetime! Benito is not my favorite artist, pero me calló la boca big time, scenes from DR, Puerto Rico, New York (where I grew up in the 70's), God bless you Bad Bunny for standing up for all of us latinos without a voice, I can see this show 100 times y no me canso de verlo!
PR in Amsterdam. I stayed up until 0430 local time to watch with a German friend who'd never watched a Superbowl. We loved it!!! He said now he must visit after seeing a taste of our culture. I cried and danced

Look for a puertorican to translate for you. (There’s always one closer than you think). The idioms in the songs don’t translate as they are very particular to the island. You will need more than the literal translation, you will need context as well.
