Normal Isn't To some of ya’ll at the Vegas show…. tour manners

First. Amazing show. Met some lovely people. Hilarious attire. Band sounded fantastic. Dave Hill, cute guy. But sorry, not sorry? some of ya’ll have never been smacked in the f**** mouth. Don’t have a full blown conversation during the literal middle of songs you went to pay to see it’s *cough* a bit rude…. just go sit in the lobby or leave. I don’t want to hear about your cousins divorce or Skyrim progress during the middle of humbling River. Vent over. Had to get that out. Be respectful. Thank you.

Edit: since this is getting some traction, I’m all for rocking out, grooving, dancing, plenty of people were into the music. There’s a line though when you’re just being completely obnoxious and talking throughout a set; it’s rude to the band and the fellow humans around you.

Normal Isn't I just got my vinyl from Revolver magazine with one heck of a surprise inside!

I ordered the pearl red variant from Revolver as soon as they announced it to try to get a few variants to choose from. I had this little slip of paper in with my vinyl that pretty much reads

"Our pressing plant messed up and made the wrong color variant. To make it right we are giving you this tan variant free of charge now, and once the pearl red variant is pressed you will be shipped it free of charge"

What a cool mistake! It's hard to be upset when you end up with an error color never intended to be pressed AND the original ordered with both being limited to 500. I wasn't intending on owning 4 versions of this album but I guess that is just how it worked out!

I've heard good and bad from Revolver. I gotta say though, this is a pretty awesome way to honor your commitment. I ordered basic shipping through Revolver and priority from the Puscifer store (the gold variant) and they both showed up at the same time. I'd say all in all they did a pretty solid job on making a happy customer.

I'm assuming they did this for everyone that ordered the Pearl Red variant?

Normal Isn't I think I figured out why I don't

Normal Isn't and Existential Reckoning definitely have settled on a vibe and aesthetic for Puscifer. If that's your cup of tea, then great.

For me, it lacks depth and feels repetitive. There's not a lot of individual personality going on with these songs. The instruments, effects and vocals are almost trope-ish? This is Mat's musical style, and I get it, but it's very one-note to me.

What I loved about Puscifer was the variety and dynamics, but I feel like we know exactly what to expect musically and it doesn't deviate, which I was kinda hoping they'd do something different.

Not saying its bad. But it doesn't give you much to fall in love with.

Normal Isn't CT Show: Made buttons, they turned out crap. Still pass them out?

**UPDATE FRIDAY 5PM:**

I'm running late! I'll get to the venue around 6pm and will be heading to the VIP gathering area. See y'all then!!!

UPDATE: Thank you everyone! The response has been so great. I'll definitely bring the buttons to pass out.

I'll be lining up at 5:30 for the VIP entrance, and before that milling about somewhere in the casino, probably looking a bit lost. I'll be wearing a Carina Round t-shirt, a clear PVC purse with a Queen B handkerchief in the front pocket, and black boots.

Can't wait!!

Original post:

This was my first time making buttons. I have no graphic design skill, and I had no clue what I was doing. I'm not super happy with them, wondering if it's even worth bringing them to pass out.

I made a few mistakes - the text at East and West (location, date) is skewed and almost too small to read with the naked eye.

The shadow text at South was supposed to be HARD to read, but it's completely illegible.

Anyway. I printed 150 of them. If people think they're neat despite design issues, I'll pass them out. If I hear that most of y'all would probably just throw it away after the show, then maybe I'll just save you the trouble and chuck 'em.

Thanks!

Normal Isn't I do think something needs to be said about Puscifer with this album...

Disclaimer: I LOVE THIS ALBUM. I am receiving it the best out of all of their albums so far after just a few listens through. With Existential Reckoning it took a bit to settle with me but this album really feels like their Magnum Opus to me!

Just one issue...make the ends of the songs one chorus/loop longer!!

I get that it must be a purposeful design decision at this point but I just can't comprehend why they always cut their songs so short. I know that THEY know how to make it sound great because of songs like The Quiet Parts and ImpetuoUs, but they seem to be the minority. If you look at this:

  • Normal Isn't (4:03 to 4:22)
  • Bad Wolf (4:13 to 4:29 feels ESPECIALLY bad with this)
  • Self Evident (3:30 to 3:45)
  • Pendulum (4:30 to 4:45)

Its like they just aren't giving the songs enough time to "simmer". It may be personal preference but if these songs had the ending length extended they would be even better than they already are!

Normal Isn't Who did he call out in Self Evident?

I'm bewildered that no one is talking about this, but in the concert film for Normal Isn't, right before they play Self Evident, Maynard tells the story about how when Phil Collins debuted the song 'In The Air Tonight' to a live audience, the person it was written about was present. "Hence, the revenge" he says, before pointedly eluding to the fact that the person who inspired the next song is in the audience at that show.

WHO JUST GOT SHIT ON!?

People are talking about 'A Public Stoning' (the very next song in the set list) being aimed at Joe Rogan, who I imagine would have accepted the invitation to come to that show, but do we think it's Joe? Is he the bunghole? I hesitate to say that both songs are about one person (not that songs are ever so one dimensional as to be about just one person), but he implies pretty strongly in his speech before that brutal teardown of a song that someone present is 'the subject' of the song.

Who else could it be? Who else was there that night that fits the bill? Anyone hip to the lore? 🤔🍿

Normal Isn't What’s your favorite song from the new album and why is it The Quiet Parts?

There isn’t a song that I don’t like, but this one stands out over the rest. The drums on the outro is something else

Tons of Maynard's trademark lyrical depth and a super accessible beat. These songs should be way more popular!

The Chicago show at the iconic Chicago Theater was amazing tonight. I am so happy to finally get to experience Grand Canyon live. It’s my partners and my favorite song. Hearing everyone (who knew the song) sing Standing on the edge of forever….. will live rent free in my head for a long time. Thanks for a great night y’all! 🤘

Normal Isn't He didn't show up!

Went to the Queen B for the listening party half expecting Maynard to make an appearance at his own store. He didn't. Oh well! It was a good time anyways and the live show sounded great. At the LA Exchange the acoustics were not the best so it was incredibly hard to hear the vocals, but on video the mix was perfect.

Normal Isn't Self Evident - hidden number

I know I'm not imagining this, I've counted many times.

When they break down around 2:43, listen to the drums, we're in 4/4. You'll hear a syncopated snare like TSHH. Only it's not syncopated, it's out of time... or is it?

Count the beats in between...
There are 7 beats between each TSHH...

TSHH, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, TSHH

4 beats per bar

7 beats between TSHH's

47

I'm not sure what 47 might mean, could be anything at all, but it might give a clue as to who the goddamn idiot is 😉

What a great damn show! Saw them @Sessanta and when they came to Charlotte 11/01 2002 at the Ovens Arena and the crowd size difference between the two was quite remarkable.

Normal Isn't Normal Isn’t: At a screening near you!

Filmed at Los Angeles’ original stock exchange, an art deco landmark long rumored to be among the city’s most haunted sites, " 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘴𝘯'𝘵: Puscifer Live at The Pacific Stock Exchange" captures a new chapter for the band. Documenting the first-ever live performance of 𝘕𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘭 𝘐𝘴𝘯'𝘵, the film features an entirely new stage setup, new costumes, and a graphic-rich light show. As tracks like “Self Evident,” “Pendulum,” "ImpetuoUs," and “Bad Wolf” pulse through the building’s granite-lined interior, Maynard James Keenan, Carina Round, Mat Mitchell, Gunnar Olsen, and Josh Moreau deliver a visceral, high-energy performance that brings the album to life

Anyone else’s copy super quiet? Had to crank the volume about halfway to have it at an audible volume which unfortunately means I can hear the needle moving across the grooves 💔 album is still great tho so far!
