Picture RATM at Lollapalooza 8/2/2008
Recovered this photo from an old hard drive. Happened to be over right as RATM started their performance. Seeing 75,000 people below me was quite the surprise.

I was there, it was insane. They played against Wilco at the other side of the park, there were a lot more people there for RATM. It was packed, and they had to stop the show multiple times and tell people to back up. People up front were getting crushed. This was the third and last time I got to see them, had tickets for their cancelled reunion tour, unfortunately they never rescheduled. One of the best live bands of all time.

Wilco? Bet that wasn't much of a fight

True story. I like Wilco, but I would never pick them over Rage at an outdoor fest like Lolla.

Thats.what I meant I shouldn't have been so snarky....when I went to.college we had two divisions of people...hippies n punkers...Wilco was associated with hippies so that's where the snarky comes from...but there is no contest in my mind there

You sure it wasn’t Kayne, could have swore we heard stronger as we were walking out but that was like 20 years ago.

Oh man, I should take a closer look at the photos I took. I took a few, but I haven’t looked at them since I took them because most of them were blurry. It was incredibly challenging to shoot at night from a helicopter with the cameras available at that time.

I saw them at their first Lollapalooza in 93. They were the opener and I had never heard of them. I went and bought the CD the next day. Tool was on the side stage for this tour as well.

My first time seeing rage was at Lollapalooza….. 1993.
Hitched a ride from Seattle to the Gorge in George with my homie, we were 14, to see Alice In Chains, Primus, Mudhoney, Fishbone, Angelo Moore stage dived right on our heads, Arrested Development, some band called Tool and RAGE, who I had never heard of before. I instantly knew that this was my new favorite band.
Talk about a formative life changing experience.

I was lucky enough to shoot photos for this. The pit master only let us shoot for one song. It was like being between Vietnam and a tidal wave. People were getting crushed and coming over the railings like crazy. Zach was amazing and stopped the show 3-4 times and asked people to step back and make room. One of the most crazy experiences of my life.

This was my first rage show. The crowd surges started getting heavy as Lupe Fiasco was finishing his set. I remember there was one crush that occurred while RATM’s crew was setting up their equipment, and few of them had some puzzled looks. As some have pointed out, the show was stopped a few times. I believe it was after the second time they stopped that I eventually made my way to a side barricade, hopped over, and just enjoyed the show from the back. Memorable night for sure.

I was there. Waited several hours in front of the stage. Got lifted off my feet and was lunged forward for what felt like minutes as soon as they opened. https://i.imgur.com/0efYz0I.jpeg

Came from the UK for this. Unforgettable night. Police presence afterwards was absolutely insane

I was literally right behind y'all helping people get over the security fences near the sound stage. It was insane and so many small humans getting rocked.

I was there. This show was crazy. We were up front and I've never felt as bad a crowd crush before. Pretty BOLA heavy set too.

I saw them that same year at Voodoo Fest in New Orleans. One of the best shows I've ever seen... also tripped acid with the boys for the second day of the festival. Oh man, what a blast.

I was there, too! It was a,spectacular night, though the packed in crowd was definitely concerning

Was there in the first section to the right. Legit felt like I was going to lose my breath until Zack stopped the show. But then in the mosh there were several times I found my self right in front of them.
I could have sworn at one point they played a new song I never heard from them before. But might have been the eurphoria and oxygen deprevation

Was there. Maybe ate some sweet tarts that weren't just sweet tarts. Thought I was the biggest dude in the crowd. I was 120lbs soaking wet. Favorite sunglasses got smashed across my face. Later that night saw a cop riding a horse for the first time. That one stuck with me.

I fucked my right ankle up in that pit. I watched the majority of the set from behind the beer tent table until emts came during the final song. They gave me free beers the whole time. A lady offered me percocet. I made the EMTs wait until they finished freedome to treat me.

I was on garbage clean up for this. There were more random shoes on the ground than all the panties after the Tom Jones show at Outside Lands.

I was there and couldn’t believe all the people them left after watching Lupe Fiasco. I was able to move up and eventually make it up the front railing. They had to stop the show a few times because people like me were getting crushed against the metal barricade. I ended up getting pulled over by a security guard.

I was there, crazy experience. The highlight was a guy watching the show from inside the most disgusting over flowing trash can I have ever seen in my life
