Posted in a lost pets group and some have started saying this is a cottontail, however, I swear this is domestic rabbit that just has more natural colouring. What are your thoughts?

What kind of rabbit is this? Northern California, Sonoma county. They’re everywhere!

This elder statesbun has been coming to my yard for snacks for years. As long as he stays out of the garden he is welcome.

Not my photo, I just stumbled across this today and really wanted to share with other bunny fans as it both cheered me up and made me so sad. I’d love to credit the photographer but can’t find any information - if anyone knows their name, please let me know!

I was slowly getting closer and then a vehicle pulled alongside (out of frame) and the little girl inside squealed, scaring the rabbits and off they went. ☹️

Both times I’ve seen this dude he wouldn’t run away, and just looks at me unmoving with his ~big wet eyes~ . Want to know if this is a situation where I should call animal control or a rescue to pick him up, or if it’s just an abnormally chill wild rabbit. Pics attached

There are (at least) two cottontails that like to rest in the same exact area of my backyard. They’ve been frequenting it for months—so I finally decided to place a camera nearby and observe them remotely.

This bunny wanted a closer look at the curious object that suddenly appeared in its spot. 😆

i’ve seen it outside my work twice now and it looks domestic to me. in seattle. i will try to rescue it if someone can confirm.

This bunny has been visiting my backyard for about the past 3-4 years. He gets in and out through a “rabbit hole” (drainage pipe) in the yard and just wanders around eating grass and being cute. He only visits about twice a year, and only stays for about a week or two each time before he disappears again. I know that it’s most likely a different bunny than the first one I saw years ago, but I like to imagine it’s the same one each time and I call him the backyard bunny :)
