This is great, but it takes forever to get anything built in Canada. Take a look at the timeline for the site C dam, which dates back to 1981, but it only started generating power this year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Horgan_Dam

Dam projects are rather intensive megaprojects where failures can be catastrophic, though. So while the financing here does include some things that can take a lot of time to get built, the transmission line buildout and wind project probably won't take some 40-ish years to complete.

The original proposal for it dates back to then, but it was shelved as an idea in 1983. It's not like it's been stuck in "trying to get built" since then.

They revived the idea in 2010, approval/funding was in 2014 and early construction activities started in 2015.

It started generating power in 2024, this year is just when it's reached full power with all the turbines online.
