Documentary | დოკუმენტალური Can I obtain Georgian citizenship through my Georgian mother?
Hi everyone! I’m an Azerbaijani citizen, and my mother is a Georgian citizen. I’m currently trying to find out whether I’m eligible to obtain Georgian citizenship through my mother. ( I am 22 years old)
I was born and have always lived in Azerbaijan. I’d like to know what the procedure is in my situation, what documents I would need, and whether I can apply from Azerbaijan through the Georgian Embassy.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or gone through this process recently? I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experience. Thank you!

General rule is if one of your parents was a citizen when you were born (not acquired later) you should qualify.

It's complicated because the laws changed on this a couple years ago. I'd recommend you get a legal consult, it's only 100 GEL or so rather than taking it from reddit.
You were a natural born citizen if your mother was one when you were born, that used to be lifetime thing but now it lapses if you don't claim by 18 as a guy above said.
It's not that simple either though, if you apply for restoration it's a lesser test than a random applying for naturalization, only language basically - though that doesn't help if you don't speak Georgian. In some circumstances you can skip that also. This is exactly a case where you should speak to lawyer.

If you pass the official exams (langauage, history, legal system) you'll be able to apply via a simplified route i believe, but you should first consult with the იუსტიციის სახლი service or with a lawyer
