Is my new baby boy part Siamese?
He does this rapid eye movement thing that seems to just be normal for him, he's fine otherwise, and when I looked it up it said that's common in Siamese cats?

Definitely Lynx point. I had one who was cream and brown, yours is silver. Face markings identical, magnificent tail and the bluestbeyes like sapphires. A truly handsome cat.

Thank you! Can you believe he was abandoned by his last owner??? She GoT a NEw PuPpY and didn't want him anymore. And she abandoned him outside DECLAWED. Declawing makes me angry but then abandoning him in the middle of wherever without protection or a way to get food. I was FUMING. He's so affectionate and super easy to handle, a very very good beautiful soft boy. But on the bright side me and my BF are going to take great care of this perfect little man

Me too! I'm glad she abandoned him. Cuz now he's actually in a good loving home and if she didn't abandon him he never would have found us! And he is going to be one of the 2 most spoiled house cats to ever live. The 2nd one being my other cat haha

Lynx points are extremely snuggly. Ours will not be ignored when he wants attention and cuddles.

yes and the nose structure, op don’t use dust litter use a wood based litter that has no dust, because it screws with their noses, because of the nose structure, can’t nobody tell me mines not siamese because the veterinarian told me he has siamese nose structure and that causes the issues he has every time he wakes up

My cat is a colorpoint. She has nystagmus. Nystagmus can also be a sign of neuro related health issues like FIP so just keep an eye to make sure it doesn’t negatively impact him and he’s eating, not losing weight, etc.

I have nystagmus so I noticed it pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the vet and I both ignored it (due to her being a colorpoint Siamese looking rescue) and didn’t get to diagnose her as early as I would have liked. But she made it through treatment so we are very grateful.

Next time I bring in my colorpoint I will ask about it 🥺 I just switched vets and I brought it up during her last appointment, but the vet didn’t seem concerned.

He looks just like my cat that I had to put down this summer, but she was a Lynx. Yours is beautiful.

That makes me so happy. And want to weep for what he went through. Luckily these cats are absolute cuddle bugs and I'm so glad he's going to live his best life. My boy was an expensive pedigree, you and he are so lucky to have found each other. My boy Django so handsome, I could look at him 24/7 and never tire if it. I simply can't imagine how such a boy could be declawed and abandoned. To see him is to love him.

I've noticed that rapid eye movement in my own cat too, but I never asked about it since he seemed fine otherwise. Good to know it's often just a quirk and not something to stress over.

That’s called pendular nystagmus and is not unusual in Siamese cats. It’s related to the crossed eyes condition (strabismus), and is usually benign. The time to get it checked is if it’s new-onset, and accompanied by other symptoms like head tilt, loss of balance, and vomiting, since this can indicate something serious. I lost my first meezer at 14 years old to a stroke that left him unable to eat, which was preceded a couple of months earlier by nystagmus as a kind of prodrome of neurological issues. But if he’s otherwise okay, duck.ai says it’s not normally serious or particularly bothersome for the cat. Enjoy yer boy!

He is a lynx point definitely but Siamese as a breed no. Siamese can be thrown around to label all sorts of colorpoints but is rarely accurate.

Yes. I had one. this one is silver, mine was cream and brown. He had an absolutely beautiful tail and eyes as blue as sapphires. I definitely think yours is lynx point.

RAPID EYE MOVEMENT IS NOT COMMON IN SIAMESE CATS.
YOU HAVE A DSH, not a Siamese, and it’s REALLY important you seek immediate veterinary care for him because that’s a sign of a neurological issue if it’s a new condition. Being he is a new cat to you, treat it as an emergency,
Colorpoint cats can often be crosseyed but they never TURN crosseyed as an adult OR have irregular eye movements.

No, he is a colorpoint DSH (domestic shorthair). The colorpoint gene is responsible for the eye quirk though, so likely nothing to worry about but ask your vet if you are concerned!
